From the background vocals to the limelight, back to the background as a lead, we have always been rewarded with her presence. Not to mention how gifted her pen is...whew! She is a LEGEND, although vastly unappreciated by the masses.

That drawl/squall you highlighted is also something I like from Faith Evans, which is weird considering I find it ugly in Aretha’s (warbled) voice. Maybe it’s due to both having a sort of smoky (brokenness) to their tones (the barroom haze I call it) which I actually love.

Tweet is an OUTSTANDING VOCALIST!!!!!!! You can hear it on every song, in every genre. Just one of the most beautiful voices. One of the artists who makes me hate her backgrd singers. I just saw your video on Alicia Keyes. It's hard for me to give Keyes any points for singing b/c her NASAL-noise is all I hear. I've never heard a singer so stuck/enmeshed in a geographic accent (New York City) as Keyes is. For example, when Adele sings you can't hear her strong accent.
