My favorite part of this video is Jeremy glancing at Kate and shaking his head whenever she hits one of those C-sharps. I have to admit that I've never been a fan of the soprano voice until I heard Kate. I cry every time.

The final sopran tone is not C# but F#

Love your reviews Lauren! Most of the Voctave members perform at Disney World in the Voices of Liberty. Up until the pandemic, they did their numbers in the Rotunda surrounded by the audience, and it was up close and personal. I remember facing Kate Lott (the soprano) and JC Fullerton (the bass) and they were just glorious. Sadly JC has left the group but Kate. Tiffany and the rest are going strong! I personally love their Showstoppers Medley and Poor Unfortunate Souls featuring Rachel Potter, but you can't go wrong with *any* Voctave song!

Lauren, Voctave has 5 women and 6 men. At the time of this recording Kristin and Jeremy were together but they are not still together. 🎶👱‍♀️👗👠👠💓

Great reaction. I saw that you did a reaction to Home Free's Mary Did You Know. Voctave has a great arrangement of this song as well. It's worth checking out. I also love You Will Be Found video from Voctave. All their Christmas music is amazing too. Lauren, that last chord being held was dissonant until it was resolved at the very end. It demonstrates the arranger's (i.e. Jamey Ray) use of dissonant chord resolution to give the listener satisfaction.

I’ve been to see them in concert nine times and had the pleasure of going to their Christmas concert in November…. Nothing has touched me like this cover. Blow s Hallelujah out of the water Kirstin’s belting in The Prayer is so strong and powerful- she’s finally come into her own

In late 2015, when "Disney Love Medley" was recorded (it was released in early 2016), there were only 8 members of the Voctave ensemble present. In May of 2017, Voctave had expanded to 11 members. They added an alto, a baritone/bass and a bass. They have settled on 11 members and have just completed a U.S. tour in early April of 2023.

Voctave is normally 11 members, but at times they have 9 , but in this instance, they had 8.A great song for your students to listen to for a showing unique sounds voices can make, is The Great Movie Medley ( an ode to the great John Williams) It has 9 members and only one of the movie theme songs has lyrics.Also a virtual video they did Nov 2020, of You Will Be Found and features people from 55 countries joining in.

Ok, let’s stir the pot here. First off, Voctave, I’ve heard, is named that for V(for 5) and Octave. (5 octave) secondly, this video is the one that pretty much brought Voctave into the forefront, because of the PTX connection. That being said, there’s plenty of examples one can take from this video, to learn or teach vocal techniques. Unfortunately, Kirstin can be used as the examples of what NOT to do. Her being the most famous of the crowd, has the worse singing posture, tension, closed mouth, annunciation and chin forward singing. All the others, even Jeremy, can be highlighted as proper techniques.
