This is really beautiful and sad, The history of the past of Abuela, is actually real in our country, the violence since 20th Century in Colombia is just crazy, and there are millions of people who had to leave their home, mostly those who live outside the cities, and it's something that still happen today, maybe not as much as before, but violence is still there made by armed groups

That makes me sad to hear but I understand it's part of the reality for so many regions around the world. I pray for those people that they will someday be able to return to their homes or make a better life elsewhere. Those hopes are all portrayed and experienced through the arts and culture of all peoples but especially those of beautiful Columbia! This song is a wonderful celebration of that.

They picked the right song to be nominated. I cannot listen to it without crying. It invokes the deepest memories of tragedy the every day life has buried, but surfaces sometimes and brings on a tsunami of emotions. Some may think why would you want to ride that wave? But the reality is that wave brings all the memories, the good and the sad and that moment of saying goodbye, that day, not knowing it would be the last. I found myself in my chrysalis with two babies to raise and I know I made so many mistakes along the way. Maybe I will find my wings, so I can soar above the tsunami and have the memories without the waves crashing on me.

I can't heard this song without crying, that was the really that many Colombians grow up with. Abuela had to be strong, single mother, who lost her husband, and saw how he was kill,💔 Raised 3 children trying to be sure that they are good people, help their community and not destroyed. Unfortunatelly this is the really of many families no just in Colombia , but all around de world 😢

Excellent call by the filmmakers not to pull an 'Up' and put the tearjerker sequence at the opening of the movie. It made sense for the characters in 'Up,' but learning all this about Alma after an hour of buildup, and set to such a gorgeous yet tragic-sounding song...good lord, it just shreds your heart like it's a block of aged Wisconsin cheddar. I love every moment of it.

I agree! In my opinion, it was also really moving to be told the “sanitized” version of this story along with a five-year-old Mirabel at the beginning, and then later, when she’s older, to learn the true story along with her, with all the trauma and the loss and the violence included. Much like the experience of watching a film as a child and then again as an adult, themes and messages come to light that weren’t apparent before, and it deepens your appreciation of the material. She has grown up and is ready to know the awful truth, and we have fallen in love with this family at this point and are ready to know why Abuela acts the way she does. Beautiful.

Such a beautiful song, and such a heartbreaking sequence in the film. I have suddenly figured out that the candle of The Miracle is the Unity candle from their wedding, the only thing Abuela Alma took with her with the children when they had to flee. I keep finding so many little things I missed first time through, and its just amazing

One thing that keeps bothering me about the translations that I keep seeing: "Ay, oruguitas, no se aguanten mas" is usually translated as, "don't hold each other", but a better translation is "Don't holding yourselves back". "No" means "no", but here it is used more as a negation: "Don't. Stop doing this". And "aguanten" means hold, but can also mean "stop" or "be careful". And "mas" here means "anymore". A lot is lost in any translation but, in this case, a transliteration significantly changes the meaning. "Don't hold each other" is closer to the actual literal words, but the meaning is closer to "Don't hold yourselves back". Stop holding yourselves back so that you can become who you are truly meant to be. That's the real message of this song.

Such a beautiful song and movie. I loved watching your reaction to Dos Oruguitas. This song makes me cry too; it has so much meaning and Sebastian Yatras’ voice is so lovely. I’ve always looked at butterflies as beautiful messengers from heaven. I lost my dad when I was fifteen and whenever I see a butterfly I think of him. My parents are Colombian. I was born in the United States, but I’ve traveled to Colombia many times throughout my life and it’s such a beautiful and magical country.🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋

Oh, that is such an amazing reaction to the song AND the movie/scene shown here. First of all, I love Sebastian. I’ve been following him on Instagram for a while now and it’s wonderful seeing him giving so much life and sweetness to that song. I love every detail of it, and as I singer myself, of course I noticed the greatness of his voice, how it sounds so soft and then so intense in the second half of the song. In my opinion, it’s the best movie ever that Disney has created. Also, it deserves a second one (maybe to tell something about Bruno’s kid's gifts?). Oh, such an amazing movie, and I love the way you describe it so passionately. It's so good to see someone else thinking the same as me. Ever considered doing classic musicals but in different languages? The translations and choices international theatre stars make are so amazing. They often take different takes on characters we thought we knew really well. And translations take songs to new levels I recommend Lydia Fairen singing "Solo Para Mi" which is the Spain version of "On My Own" from Les Mis! She is stunning. Her vocals are BREATHTAKING

Thank you for the excellent explanation. Also, the video shows true stories of families that were affected by violence. My grandparents were living in a beautiful farm near a river ,mountains with many animals. We used to spend time there for Christmas. Unfortunately, the guerrilla one day burnt part of the farm and my grandparents had to flee and move with us to the city. The movie reminded me of that situation so I cried a lot. The guerrilla stole our joy in that place but Thank God, they never stole the family we still are

I’m so proud of how far Yatra has come. I’ve been following him since Ya No Hay Nadie Que Nos Pare ft. his ex TINI. His voice has improved a lot. His strength is singing low notes, almost whispering like he did here. He’s known for his ballads and reggeaton songs. He has many ballads like Como Mirarte, No Hay Nadie Mas, Devuelveme El Corazon, Tarde, Adios, and many more. Last year he released an album full of ballads and it’s featured with artists like Ricky Martin for example. His first album was a mix of reggeaton and ballads. The second one is full ballads and the last one that he just released is a mix between ballads, Cumbia, rock punk, pop, reggeaton. He’s such a great songwriter. Once he tried to make an explicit song like Delincuente but it flopped because that’s not him. He’s known for his romantic lyrics even it’s reggeaton or stuff like that. You should check his own songs written mostly by him

The animation in that movie is absolutely insane! Very few people will understand the story of this movie because they don't know the history of the displacement of the Colombian peasants by the drug wars, it is very sad and spectacular (the movie) at the same time.

Sebastian has such a wonderful voice and interpretation of this song , the music from the guitar reminds of the Ballards of Agustín Lara when he used to write his songs. What an amazing technique that was done with the guitar strings being the opening of this song and following beautifully with the rest of the instruments. It's such a beautiful song and part in the movie even though we are seeing a great sadness. But it's the healing of a family that brings me to tears along with Abuela's past. I always cry when I see this video. Not surprised that it was nominated.

You have given such a beautifully personal interpretation of Dos Oruguitas. I've seen the movie. I love the eight songs Lin created. Dos Oruguitas is a beautiful song that each of us has lived in one form or another. Sebastian created a very very personal interpretation of this story. This is truly a gift to the world. As Ukrainia is facing the challenge of their destiny, Dos Oruguitas is being experienced over and over and over in their families. Thank you, Andy for your truly touching moments of your heartfelt expression. I will watch this again and again. To know people who feel, who care, who share and who are given a platform for all of us to stop and realize our lives are so intertwined. The butterflies all over the screen with Mirabel and Abuela holding each other is a visual we must all hold deep within our souls. Beautiful, Disney.

Thank you so much for reacting to this song along with the animation. I like We Don't Talk About Bruno but this song has so much emotion that it's hard to listen without shedding a tear
