Wow, I never expected to see Maria show up here. I discovered her music around 2006, always loved her interesting tone and honest writing. As for my preference, I usually connect more with subtle and authentic performance like this but I definitely get into theater moods and crave the drama as well. lol

Maria Mena's version of "Mitt Lille Land" (My little country) after the attacks of 22. Juli 2011 is heartwrenching. I can only describe her voice as hauntingly beautiful. I'd love to hear your reaction to LEE SUHYUN, ONEW & YOON JONGSHIN's version of Uphill Road from the show Sea of Hope. They have three very distinct singing styles.

She's like a Broadway performer in her songs: the emotion of her voice and confessional nature of her lyrics is really powerful

oh dear. i entirely forgot that maria mena exists outside of my reality. whoops. but yes, absolutely, she barely ever sounds "performative" or theatrical. and as a theatre kid myself, her music has always connected to me in a really honest and direct way. as if the showy part of a theatre performance has been stripped away and only the core emotion and feelin is being communicated oh, and as someone who has spent A LOT of time singing along to her music: i am always astounded how easy the c/csharp/d region is coming to her. theres no perceivable break in her voice and just do not relate

Sam my man, I have a song request for you. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EcOYERq96hk.html its called Flow, from Final Fantasy 14, the MMO, it does have some vocal effects in it, but you can tell the vocalist is amazing, if you do a review on this, could you maybe give some advice on how to sing songs like these in a male style? im working on high notes but as a guy with no training, I dont know if I could mimic this, as any note around these heights is very strenuous for me, if I can even hit them, Id love to know how to translate female vocals to male vocals, have a great day!

For me, if you listen to her music it's the same sound in every song. If you heard one, you heard everyone. She is Norwegian and I am too. Proud of her, but at the same time, its hard when everything has the same sound
