Amazing performance by Jacob showing all his arsenal in presented this song . These artist know how difficult it was to do this song from beginning to end. American Idol just be dropping off the great singers but they end up being successful because producers recognized their talents . And Amen to the Voice Coach simply outstanding.

Like Elton,, Jacob sings ‘Benny and the Jets in a hip, funky, rocking R&B style’. Elton also threw in hints of (burlesque) ragtime. But Jacob throws in a dash ragtime (heavier than Elton on the burlesque) & gospel. Elton is amazing. Jacob did a great tribute to that greatness.

To be honest with you jaron for a long time I didn't understand what Elton John was singing all I knew was Bennie and the Jets. I didn't know one of the lines was I read it in a magazine I did not know that for a long time😂😂😂

This makes me want to hear you analyse Biz Markie’s version of Bennie and the Jets 😂 I’d also love to hear your analysis of Joni Mitchell’s rendition of I’m Still Standing from the same tribute showcase. She had permission from Bernie Taupin to change the lyrics, and she sang it in a lower register. I’m fascinated by how Joni has adapted her arrangements of songs (including her own) to fit the limitations of her voice. She had to teach herself how to sing again following her aneurysm, and she doesn’t have the range she used to due to age, but I still think she sounds incredible and I love how the tone of her voice has matured.
