What was Yogi's famous saying about mentality in baseball... these guys are completely psyched out. Many people play great until it (opponent, bad at bats, etc.) gets in their head and they simply cannot overcome it. These giant group slumps make the whole team play terrible, because it's like a giant negative feedback loop. Infusing new and confident players is a possible solution for mentally weak players, because it takes weeks for them to find a spark again to start bringing their confidecne back.

Jorge posada would be a good choice as manager even without experience. Obviously an Alex Cora type of manager would be good. Buuuuuuuuut!!!!!! Higher management would not let any instinctive manager do his job.

Lately, the Yankees have won 26% (6 of 23). With 69 games left, at that rate they are on pace to win 18 more games. 55 + 18 = 73 total. My hope is that somehow, with a lot more work and focus they could win 9 plus extra games. This would ensure another winning season for the boys and something to build on going forward? But they have to find a way to win 27 out of 69 of the remains games. That's approximately 40% of the 69 games left. I know it sounds obviously impossible to ask but.... Go Yankees!!!

I believe the players are paid way too damn much and they know they got their bag of cash so everything else doesn’t matter. They already won…. In the beginning of someone’s young career they work their tail off to prove themselves and to get paid more. Once that person gets what they wanted their talent never matches their beginning except for a handful of individuals.

It's hard to hate on Rodon that much when he pitches like he actually gives a crap. He obviously wants to succeed. And we want him to succeed as well. I actually hope he survives any fire sale the team goes through. If he won a ring in pinstripes, now that would be a fine moment.

The only optimism is that if the Yankees can start winning and make the Playoffs that's what matters. The regular season is only seating in the Playoffs. The Yanks can't limp into the Playoffs and be eliminated in the 1st round be it the Wild Card round and the ALDS. The problem is the Red Sox are playing great baseball. If the Yanks and Orioles don't play better, the Red Sox probably win the division. When you have only two players in your lineup who hit the ball, you need to play "small ball". The Yanks don't do that. You have to find ways to manufacture runs. That's how the '60s Dodgers did it with Koufax and Drysdale pitching and the '60 Cardinals who both consequently beat the Yankees in the World Series in 1963 and 1964, respectively. There is still time to turn it around, but the Yanks are going to have to make a couple of trades. Since Derek mentioned Mike Francesa, Francesa recommended getting McNeil from the Mets. He's miserable with the Mets and his left-handed bat would be a nice addition to the Yanks. I don't know if that's one of the options or not, but changes have to be made. If the Yanks don't make the Playoffs this year, Boone and Cashman need to go.

Hal will have lost his mind to sign a player from outside the organization and pay a luxury tax penalty. The team is already overpaid and that is all they want, paid, don't care about winning a Championship! Bring up some more kids, Neely, Gomez, Vivas, Spencer (yes. now) and when they are ready, Effross, Schmidt, Berti, The Martian- September callup

Yanks have big problem they need to many options a catcher, 2nd base, 3rd base, 2 relievers and a starting pitcher and do not have the resources to accomplish this

I would never pick Rodon up, he has not help Yankee a bit, he is trouble, IDK why Cashman got him? that is so stupid, he keep picking up so-so players that can't produce, i would trade everyone beside Judge and Soto. and I would trade every pitcher beside Cole. that include the coach, we need some life in this team, everyone looks like I got the money now and I don't need to hustle.

Can we all just agree that Boone's "rah-rah" BS doesn't fit every player. Rodon is practically screaming to be held accountable. Shows up the manager(multiple times), terrible attitude and body language and just a malcontent. It doesn't look like he needs someone with Pom-Poms, but maybe someone to be a leader and hold him accountable and talk to him like a man who needs to get his head on straight.

The reason our offense can't develop players is because they worry too much about the smaller analytical stats. There are so many meatballs that the hitters miss because they keep pulling their heads which causes swing and miss, foul balls, or weak roll overs

Joe Torrey’s record was less than stellar prior to joining as manager. I thought “ George is at it again”. Happy I was dead wrong but Torrey benefited from the Core Four thanks to Gene Michael. Don Mattingly may fail but with the Martian, Spenser Jones, Aaron Judge, Juan Soto ( hopefully) he may be the best choice at this time. Don Mattingly always generated respect. In Texas during his consecutive game home run streak the Ranger fans cheered him. If there is to be a new manager Donny Baseball may be the best choice.

Rodon has been awful in the first inning (9.00 ERA), bad in the second (5.68) but pretty fantastic third through sixth (1.42, 2.89, 3.14, 1.69) so before you cut him loose, why not at least try to unlock the obvious potential he demonstrates through the middle innings. If his issues are mental, take the first two innings away from him by using an opener for his starts, if they're physical adjust his pregame warmup routine. Maybe try both?

It's really a shame that fantasy sports became something really sad that people did in offices to actually being the way that professional coaches and managers actually coach. It's almost like this fantasy become reality gave justification to all the armchair quarterbacks who obsessed over their fantasy leagues. I mean next thing you know guitar hero is going to be the way people actually perform music on stage

Carlos Rodon is an overpaid ball player. He should be sent to the minor. Bring Warren to replace Rolon. Negotiate wifh the Pirates to bring back Domingo German. By far he was a better pitcher for us.

The first guy was such a stereotypical boomer. Thinks advanced metrics are predictive "fantasy" stats. A fundamental and probably deliberate misunderstanding of anything new. HOWEVER, I do think the Yankees need less reliance on metrics, this situational agnostic baseball can go to hell. They do need a change in leadership.

We need hitters that spray the ball around the field.The executives have been watching all year.Torres,DJ, Grisham and Rizzo are all dead weight.Volpe needs to lay off the high pitch and hit like he was early in the season,like Jeter.Verdugo is totally pull.

I’m very concerned on Yankees morale due to the poor team performance. During this 2024 the two worst pitcher are Rondón and Cortez. On the reliever Holmes should be considered a mediocre regular relief pitcher, never a closer. The Yankees should not sign J. Soto again. He will cost a fortune but he has shown to be solution of all the Yankees problems. He is a very good outfielder, that’s true, even though he is not the solution. With his salary we can sign two good player (.286 ave.,.18/20 Hrs, 74/86 RBI) and players that put the ball on play. But the most important things is to bring up Spencer Jones and Dominguez as replace A. Boone and return to the minor V. Wells.

The answer is a new “manager” but any former mlb. The answer is Eduardo Perez. He has professional baseball managerial experience with two different teams. And in both season his equipment were champions. Just take a chance to talk to him about his experience with the Ponce and Santurce championship in the PR professional baseball winter league. Just take a chance for a friendly conversation on baseball. Eduardo is currently working with ESPN.
