Whiskey in the Jar is a song about a notorious Irish highwayman Patrick Fleming who was hanged in 1650, has become one of Ireland’s most beloved songs, a true rebel air that stirs the passions. This song has been covered by Thin Lizzi and Metallica and many others. This is so beautiful. When it came out on Patreon, I had to some research on it, but I love how they made it their own.
The song's roots date back to the 1600's. A printed copy of the song lyrics in 1870 is very similar to The Dubliners version that many folk lovers would be familiar with. And some people only know the Metallica cover.
That was DeeJay Young in their Butter cover, I think. Omar was in"Dream On" last time. It's been a minute, lol. Always love to have him with the group. His voice is so smooth! Great reaction! ❤
Not a happy song but then many Irish ( and Scottish) traditional folk songs aren't. Took me a couple of listens to find that i really liked it it's so different form the versions I'd heard before.
