Yes as far as I understand the vocal effect was on Geoff's voice (for the guitar). In his youth Geoff wanted to sing like Chris Cornell but hey... he is a bass - doesn't stop him from trying though 😄. Great arrangement by Eli/Layne. Thank you for the reaction! 🌹🕊
The karaoke track they used in the outro (produced for Patreon) is so cool. Without the melody, you can hear the intricacies of the harmonies and beatboxing so well. Great reaction!!
I am a huge fan of Voiceplay and Chris Cornell. I have to admit that I was a little concerned when I saw that they were covering this song, but as always, they never disappoint me. I just subscribed to your channel, and looking at the Voiceplay songs that you have reacted to, I can't believe that you haven't done Valhalla Calling yet. You should definitely watch that video soon! I really enjoyed watching this reaction, and I am going to go back and watch the other ones you have done! Great reaction to a great song!
Glad you enjoyed this. It has become my favorite Voiceplay song and video. Thank you also for the shout out. Geoff Castellucci released his new video on his Patreon April 30th. It should be on RU-vid May 10th. It is absolutely amazing.
From what I understand they added effect on Geoff for the guitar but that he probably already sounded close to that or it wouldn’t have worked very well. I didn’t see In the Air Tonight in your playlist. I think that is a must watch 😅
This cover sounds better and better every time I listen to it. The boys go all out, and I know I have said it before, but they just keep getting better and better with each cover they do. I am familiar with the original, and it really does nothing for me, but this is amazing and complicated and just wow. Eli/Layne did amazing with the arrangement of this one. Absolutely amazing! Great reaction!
Great reaction. I am not sure sometimes when/if there are 'electrical' vocal effects or purely VP only, and I don't mind, so to speak. Their productions are always wonderful. This one was great! Looking forward to your next VP and Geoff reactions.
They have done the guitar sound at least two other times that I’m aware of: in Queen in five minutes, and Cesar had a little bit in their cover of Hellfire. Even with distortion applied I have no idea how they pull that off. But I also wonder that about all those noises that Layne makes in addition to the typical drums.😂
The Cyberpunk thing came from the fact it was used in the most recent Cyberpunk video game. As to not knowing what to expect…that’s simple. 1) Expect there will be things changed from the original. 2) Expect they will throw you a twist you don’t see coming and couldn’t predict if your life depended on it. Hope that helps. 😁 And saw someone else recommend Valhalla Calling….I 2nd that.
Yeah, I'm fine with autotune being used for effect, just not as a blanket way to make every voice "perfect" (and in the process make it sound worse by stripping away all the character). I guessed this was an Eli arrangement - didn't think it would be two of them!
This was Eli’s baby with help from Layne on the arrangement. But as usual he went all out. The digital background he created in Unreal Engine and it is displayed on the LED screens behind them. He also built the wall with everybody else was on break he built the friggin wall so it looked like they were up on the top of the building. Considering he’s also a brand new dad, I have no idea where he finds all the energy and tenacity to do all that. I’m really old and must live under a rock because this was a new thing to me, but they killed it.
