VoicePlay has 2 main arrangers, Geoff (bass) and Layne (beatboxer), and Eli (the bald guy) also arranges on occasion. What they do is have one person arranging the song, and when he's done he'll send it to the others to hear if they're happy with the result, if there are parts they think might need to be changed or if they have suggestions for changes. The arranger will go through their notes and either make his own changes or follow the suggestions from the others. Then all people rehearse their own parts, and record their own parts. They often will send the arranger a few different variations of "solo moments", like various riffs or belts, or if they have some new ideas during recording, and then the arranger will pick and choose what he thinks works best. The arranger has the final say in what gets put in the song, as he is the one in charge of that project.

Geoff was in charge of this one. He had done an acapella voice for the guitar solo in the original. At the last minute he had Layne do the guitar solo with the violin, which garnered him the nickname of VioLayne. About 3 yrs ago, VoicePlay did a video called Warriors (Imagine Dragons) where Layne played violin all the way through and J. None played a few lines on his violin before he went back to singing. It is spectacular. VPs apocalyptic trilogy began there, next is Dream On (Aerosmith) and the 3rd is Seven Nation Army (White Stripes). Queen in 5 Minutes is a medley of Queen songs but put together to tell a story of a fellow in the hospital dying. In a coma, he meets 4 gods of the underworld who will take him to the other side. The story itself is fascinating but Queen songs sound so darn good!

They actually do an absolutely astounding arrangement of Queen in Five Minutes that I think you guys would love, it is mind-blowing the amount of talent they show in all respects; the voices, the production of the songs and the videos themselves, and they do it all without the backing of a label. Loved this reaction, can't wait for more Voiceplay from you guys!

Voiceplay always pays homage to the original, it doesn't get lost, but they always put their touch on it. They recently did In the Air Tonight, I'm sure you will enjoy it. And they did a medley of Queen, it is wonderful!!

This is an amazing cover. Geoff really had to work hard to get this on out to the world. They had a few setbacks in getting the guest singer lined up, J was originally going to do it, but then wasn't able to get the time off to to come film it, eventually Geoff just made the decision to wait until J could make it. Well worth the wait! I'm still hoping J is able to come back after his service in the Navy. Fingers crossed!!

To answer your question - they have a terrific medley called Queen In 5 Minutes. They also recently did covers of Creep, In The Air Tonight, Dream On to name just a few. These guys are crazy talented. ❤❤

VoicePlay arrangements are always amazing. Geoof or Layne do most of their arrangements, about half each, though Eli had done some as well. I don't know that we have to prefer one version over another, Why not just like both, each in their own way? :) Also note the nod to the fact that this song was off the Black Album, hence the all black appearance of this. They have done a very theatrical video Queen in Five Minutes, which tells a story using lines from Queen songs, and it's brilliant.

Every one of them has a beautiful, individual voice. The interweaving between them, the harmony, takes such talent. How many people can harmonize with a blasted violin? I am always in awe of their talent.

Based on your other reactions, you'll also like Hoist the Colours, Dream On, Warriors, 21 Pilots Mashup, Creep, Seven Nation Army, Hall of the Mountain King, If I were a Rich Man/Girl. And going back to the Pandemic, they did something similar to USA for Africa called Just Sing. You'll love all of it!!

Thank you both for a great reaction to Voice Play. They are known as The Theater Kids of Acapella. Please do a reaction video to Voice Plays cover " Queen In 5 Minutes " it is a medley of Queen songs & Voice Play puts on a whole theatrical performance with this one. They love to tell a story with their music. Also Voice Plays cover of " Dream On " originally by Aerosmith. Voice Play does it better. Geoff Castallucci ( low bass singer in Voice Play ) does an amazing cover of " Folsom Prison Blues " originally by Johnny Cash. Geoff rented out an entire prison for this video. It was just him & his wife Kathy ( who was the entire production crew ) alone in the decommissioned prison... Sorry Johnny but I think Geoff out did you in this one.

Great reaction! And, you nailed it....they do the insane each and every time. Most amazingly, they keep the listener interested throughout the entire song. They always manage to respect the original and then put their Voiceplay twist to it...doing what you don't expect right at that pivotal moment.
