Voiceplay's ability to do extreme syncopation -- all while maintaining a cohesive beat -- I believe this is key to many of their productions dragging you in.

Their song arrangement skills are superior in all meanings of that word. I'm always impressed with their ability to imagine new and interesting ways of arranging music to make it their own.

I call VoicePlay my Theatre Kids. Santa Claus is Geoff's brother-in-law. They utilize friends and family members when needed. Geoff, Layne, and Earl have known each other since middle school, high school, and collage.

I did the whole drama and show choir thing a lifetime ago. It was really fun, so I can seriously appreciate what they are doing in their productions. Beats the heck outta what I have to wear to work lol.

@@JDubReacts Two of my granddaughters had Zac Effron's drama teacher in high school. Robyn Metchik, that's when I got hooked into the theatre. She always went to excess with her productions. She loves musicals. They did more shows on the main stage at the performing arts center than on the high schools' stage. They could sell out the 620 seats in a heartbeat. I miss going to see those shows. VoicePlay is filling the void.

@@Broomrider1492 Okay, I've read it in comments and assumed that it was people who have been patrons longer than I have. So I have thought that they've learnt it in a live chat with VoicePlay. Of course I can be wrong, I have not heard it first hand from VP.

Disney and Universal. Geoff was Frankenstein, Tony was Dracula, J None was Dracula and I think Deejay Young (a frequent collaborator) was Wolfie in the Beetlejuice Graveyard Revue at Universal. Also Jose Rosario Jr (another collaborator who is in Rockapella) was Dracula. Also Geoff's wife was Bride of Frankenstein. J None and Deejay were Nakawa in Festival of the Lion King at Disneys Animal Kingdom. Earl was (possibly still) was Crush in the Finding Nemo show at Animal Kingdom. EJ Cardona (collaborator) was in Voices of Liberty at Epcot.

Frankenstein. 1) I actually knew a guy with that last name a while back. And he lived up to it in that he was a massive dude. 2) That would be a fitting role for Geoff. Kinda a larger than life sort of character to play.

Check out Hoist the Colours for sheer theatricality- it's from Pirates of the Caribbean 3. For the season, Geoff did a great version of Monster Mash, harmonizing with himself. The group did I've Got Friends on the Other Side from Disney's Princess and the Frog, featuring J who was on leave from his recent enlistment in the Navy. Cesar plays Prince Naveen.

I really like that Santa Claus, too. He did a great job, (and it hurts me when they say he's ugly. I know it's just part of the song, but he's not ugly. He has very nice eyes 😥)

Layne Stein, vocal percussion, Eli (pronounced elly) Jacobson , tenor with runs and riffs, J,None the baritone, Earl Elkins, with beard, high tenor. and of course Geoff Castellucci, bass, Earl and J.None have both since left for different reasons, and Cesar de la Rosa has joned, having appeared as a guest a few times. They are all very talnted with wide vocal ranges. Some older videos, before J.None joined featured Tony Wakim, another great singer who now works with Layne at Pattycake Productions.

Voiceplay has done a few songs from nightmare before Christmas Geoff (Jeff) castalucci oogie boogie Layne Stein- zero and beatboxes Lock,shock and barrel Eil Jacobson is the blad guy Earl Elkinson is guy with the high voice J.none Santa Claus is Geoff's brother in law not a member of the group
