Was the most beautiful and daunting sound I ever heard as drifting off to sleep. It kind of woke me up and was so beautiful as I layer there listening as my heart was pounding in my chest ♡ somehow I knew it was a loon though I never heard before. ... it almost resembles a coyote but then I knew it was different. Has whopping looping sound to it. So beautiful. ♡

for whatever reason, this sound was used as the death-sound of a particular mushroom like enemy in the videogame Dark Souls. Not to be misunderstood, it worked perfectly as whenever you hear the sound you hear something you would associate with a peaceful environment, and you question the action you took. This sound is used in a perfect scenario in that game, and it is beautiful in itself. so I guess I now know the reason why this particular sound was chosen...

As a kid I fell in love with the sound as soon as I heard it. They were demoing recordings of them at some curiosity store in Niagara Falls and I begged my parents to buy me a copy of it. The echo gives it such an exaggerated feel! It’s amazing what this world holds as far as this beautiful bird.

I'll never forget my first time ever hearing a loons wail. It was at a cabin on Lake Brandy in Northern Minnesota. The sun had just set, and there was a storm brewing in the distance. Then came the loons beautiful yet sad sounding call. Absolutely chilling.

This bird and the lyrebird. Those are my favourites (Btw the narrator has a really relaxing voice)

Always head up to the adirondacks near old forge every year. I always love the spirited call loons make as it echoes across the lake.

I love waking up at the cabin in northern minnesota and sitting outside by the lake listening to the loons. On a sunny, 60 degree morning in July it is the most relaxing noise and there is no where I’d rather be in the world

Love them! When I was a child we had a cottage in northern Ontario and every morning we would hear loons it was so peaceful! We even got a landline phone that had a loon ringer... until it broke and kept changing to a ducks voice lol.

I was fortunate enough on one occasion to have a pair of loons come within 30 ft of my canoe. The sound of conversation among themselves was truly unforgettable.

Thank you for this. The song of the loon is one of my favourite sounds in the world. I heard it all the time when camping as a child. Sadly, where I now live I rarely get to hear them. This was wonderful to hear. 💕💕

The call of the Great Northern Loon is eerie, evocative, uncanny. I remember the first time I heard one it sent a slight chill down my spine. It is hauntingly beautiful and unlike anything else you are ever likely to hear.
