Chief, I was a 15 year old kid who wanted to be a fireman more than anything else when 9/11 happened. Seeing you, your men, and the entire FDNY’s courage that day is still something I draw upon to this day, almost 23 years later, as a fireman myself. We will never forget you. And we don’t let our probies forget, many of whom weren’t even born yet. Take care and God Bless.

My high school girlfriend watched all the flashing lights trying to get across the bridges from New Jersey. She saw everything after the planes hit from a pier in Staten Island. All the responders are heroes not even a second was wasted.

It is encouraging to know we have great Americans like Fire Chief Grabher, and those that wear the uniforms of heroes. The uniforms that run toward danger, not away from it. God bless you Chief.

Great interview, almost 23 years later people should watch these guys talk. In the UK, I remember that day so clear, my husband calling me at work and seeing those first tv images 💔

I’m so glad that he was able to share his story and that you aired it so the rest of us could hear it. When he said that he wishes he could just go to the firehouse kitchen and talk to the guys there it just tugged at my heart. I hope that he is doing well now and has found another purpose for his days.

As a retired NYPD detective I try to avoid anything related to 9-11 story or any article pertaining to that date .I have been to the site only once with the Mt sinai group therapy officers and we fully medicated ourselves with extra XanaX and Klonopin and I could never go back there again I spent months at the Fresh kills landfill watching conveyer belts and picking up bones and anything relevant to the that day.till this day I cannot see a supermarket conveyer belt..baggage claim area in an airport due to the 9 months of and off 2 to 3 times a week 12 hours tours of being assigned there I Thank u sir for your service as an American citizen and as an FDNY responder..FIDELIS AD MORTEM...Amen!

PTSD is such an ugly beast. You ALREADY lived through it, though. The memories are horrifying and painful. They also cannot hurt you. You have survived the thing that you want to forget. I hope you can one day feel safe again. ❤

This was a great story and one of many untold stories of FF's who survived that day but have 911 related illnesses. Just recently the number of FF deaths from 911 illnesses has pass the 343 that die that day. There are most likely many more stories out there. God bless Chief Grabher, the men and women of the FDNY and FF's across this nation that answer the call everyday. Ret. Lt. Danbury CT FD Never Forget!!

Some guy I worked with years ago said that same thing about our government made those buildings come down. Anyone who understands that steel,structural steel that is subject to extreme heat, like these buildings were,the heat takes the structural integrity right out of the steel,it loses its temper. And when the steel that holds up those buildings hears up like it did,all that weight, hundreds of thousands if pounds,can no longer be supported by the steel that was heated well beyond the point. There's no way that it can continue to hold up all that weight. And then explained to him,what about the plane that hit the pentagon,ir the one that crashed in Pennsylvania, did the government do that too? Some people just get their mind set on something and there's just no changing it. Any way,this man I must say is a true hero,just l8ke all of his fellow fire fighters who perished that day. I think that there are no fire fighters like there are in New York. New York people in general are the toughest Americans that exist today. But I guess any big city fireman are pretty damn brave in my book. I just saw tremendous character in New York when these things happened. God bless you all,thank you for keeping us safe. You really are a special kind of breed.

Thank you for your service Steve! I heard you say it didn't feel productive because you were running for your lives. Believe me brother, it was productive! I remember days on deployment when I felt the same way, until I looked around at the guys there with me. Everyone being there with me made it productive! You, and every fire fighter, and first responder, every person that lost their life, or survived made it productive. I thank you brother, your life story makes me feel great about serving until retirement in the Army. I hope we got justice for you, and everyone lost or effected by 9/11. I love you guys brother. Take care! ✌🏾❤️

My mom took me down to the trade center the 2 weeks before they were destroyed, she had to get a new birth certificate and they kept all records downtown. Make a long story short, I decided I wanted to be an accountant and work there one day, but I had a nightmare that night about having to jump off the building and my parachute wouldn’t work. My nightmare became true, but for all those people down there. I hopped in my car and drove to the water just in time to see the North Tower collapse. I’ll never forget those people who were killed there that day. I have taken the time to look at their pictures and names, to remind that life is precious.

What a wonderful firefighter this man is . Such knowledge when he’s speaking about what to do as he was traveling down to WTC2 . His brain going through everything he’d leant and how helpless he felt that he felt so naive thinking he could put out the fires . Listening to him say that I wanted to shout out to him that he wasn’t stupid or naïve, none of them had ever faced anything like this before he did his job and he should be so proud of him and his team . RIP to the 343.

Thank you sir for everything you did on 9/11. If I would have been stuck in the World Trade Center and I had to choose between flames and jumping I would jump. I was at a accident scene one time and we couldn’t get the woman out of the car and she burned alive in that car. I will never forget the screaming and the smell of the burning flesh. It still haunts me in my dreams at night. I hope that if I am in this position where I can’t get out that I can get to my tactical Tupperware to end the situation. God bless you sir.

I was on leave from the military when 9/11 happened I was in Florida when a friend woke me up and told me the first time I've been hit when I walked into his living room I watch the plane hit the second tower I was standing there in shock when the report came in that the Pentagon had been hit 10 minutes after that my pager started beeping my was paging me when I when I called to check in with him he inform me my leave was canceled to report back to base shortly after that I remember hearing that the plane went down in Pennsylvania in a field and all air traffic was restricted and I had to drive from fort Pierce Florida all the way back to camp lejeune which was a long trip but anyways I remember talking to a structural engineer that was later on couple years later told me he was in New York that day that day and he told me that the intense heat and jet fuel in the impact or the reasons the towers fell that when the planes hit the towers it knocked the fire proofing off of the walls in the building around the impact zone which caused super heated jet fuel be exposed to the steel structure which attributed to the collapse

Interested to hear his thoughts on what another Fireman saw and said "the steel was molten like a Foundry for weeks after collapse" How does steel become Molten like that in i fire that was not hot enough to Melt steel ?
@QDADOG
@QDADOG 3 месяца назад
It didn’t melt. It softened, bent, and twisted.
@kareywall820
@kareywall820 3 месяца назад
It could have been melted since jet fuel burns at 2000 degrees.
@mytmousemalibu
@mytmousemalibu 12 дней назад
There is footage of molten, liquefied steel running out of the building. Jet fuel could burn hot enough but not in open air. The biggest question is why nano-thermite was discovered in the dust. There is no reason for it to exist in that environment/wreckage. No doubt the jets and fire did significant damage and softened steel. Lot of things out of place. That said, innocent people were murdered and still dying via 9/11 illnesses. Upmost respect to the heros that day and those that died. Ive been to the memorial and its a somber experience.
