old title: "Voices of the Void: [SUPER THREAT](?)" I was just doing my daily task man... also the 7 things on the radar aren't related to this event sorry if this is weirdly recorded I was manually clipping everything with shadow replay
I like that whatever happened to the sun is equally confusing to the aliens as well, they go so far as to abandon their mission and destroy the sun for their own reasons
Not just destroy the sun, they want to capture whatever light it emitted too. Does that mean the light still has it's effects no matter how far it's traveled? Terrifying.
@@theastrollama777 I mean, even though it is most likely an altered version of the story, it might've taken inspiration from "When Day Breaks" For example, the strange compulsion for Dr. Kel to look at it when in his line of sight (0:28) or the flesh chunks falling off when in DIRECT sunlight, also the alarms start blaring as if some supervisor witnessed what happened to someone in direct sunlight and turned them on themselves. Not entirely sure why the sun is censored unless if it's some sort of memetic protection for the player themselves in a 4th wall breaking sense. And also, the developer already took some inspiration / references to other creepy moments in media, like "The Freezer" from Saints Row 2, Rufus from Gooseworx's dream, or some of the fears Joel might've had (Duende anyone?)
"CAPTURE THE REMAINING LIGHT" in the death sequence is actually a bit scary to think about, because it implies that this anomalous sun is so unimaginably dangerous that even if you observed it from another entire solar system, the relatively TINY amount of photons that would reach you would still be bad
This is definitely another SCP reference. One of the SCP-001 proposals is called "When Day Breaks" and it's basically the sun becoming anomalous and turning people into fleshy abominations when they're caught in the light.
001 doesn’t kill them, it melts their flesh and makes them think the sun is beautiful and makes them want other people to experience the “beauty” of the sun, even moonlight isn’t safe because it’s reflected light
@@kathiecraig2803 yup. I believe the ig foundation motto is: We die in the dark, so you may live in the light SCP-001 (this version anyways) literally flies that around so perfectly, I love it
Thats a cognitohazard. Cognitohazards are things that are dangerous if looked at... so there is a reason why its a black box, its stopping you from seeing it
I almost had a hearth attack, i was going to get Echo's hash and as soon as i left the sat the sirens went off and i started taking damage, i ran back as fast as i could and then i noticed how strong the sunlight was compared to a normal day lol
just now got that exact event on day 22. the only thing that i find slightly annoying about it is that it seems like the only two options you have are 1-you either reset events (idk if it works as i never tested it ever but i assume it works lol), or 2-sit in a corner of your base all day. i mean hearing sirens and seeing everything flickering for no reason while i was minding my own business almost gave me a fookin heart attack ngl lmao. also the "you have seen everything" achievement with description being "enjoy the light" is pretty ominous ngl. also not too sure but i assume it is a reference to When Day Breaks or whatever its called idk. anyways yea scary shite, love it.
i got lucky because it happened in the second day just before i sent the first box full of drives to complete the tasks, so after that i had 9 signals to process after i upgraded the thing that lets you process the signals
got the event on day 5, and it was the first time i was playing the game myself and not just watching someone. scared the ever loving hell out of me 11/10 game of the year
Got it on my first day XD Went outside, sirens started blaring and I was like "Is Dr Kel getting arrested" before getting attacked by the sun. A week later I'm still picking up bits of goregibs. I love this event but I wish you could pause. I needed to go away from my pc but was basically held hostage lmao
For me is one of the most creepiest events in the game. With this, also i wanted know more about the BAD SUN, it's a inspirations of something? A conspiracy theory?
It’s a very direct reference to SCP-001 “When Day Breaks” where the sun becomes an anomaly and puts off enough light to break Earth’s Ozone Layer and pretty much melt all life on Earth into nothing.
Learning new shit about this game every day that makes my jaw drop every time is an experience. There are so many things to find in this game and it's terrifying!
Some information about the "BAD SUN" event Basic info: 1. It will happen every 24TH in every month (it can happened anytime but it's extremely rare for it to happened outside 24TH) 2. This is an "Game Over" event, means that you can DIE in this event. (When you die, the save file is deleted) 3. This event happened from 6:00 until 18:00 (basically the whole day) 4. Definitely inspired from SCP-001 "When day breaks". The sun went anomalous for some reason and it will melt any organic materials, humans included, fusing them and turned into one hell of a biological abomination
How to survive it? 1. Take as much food as you can 2. DO NOT GO OUTSIDE. PLEASE. 3. The safest place is either the pool or the basement 4. good luck If you still wanted to look at the sun then... 1. The sun is censored by a black rectangle. Your vision will be forced to stare at the sun and you can't shake it off. It will slowly kills you.
For some really weird reason, the event lasted 2 days for me before it fully ended and gave me the bad sun achievement (edit: I forgot to mention that it lasted through day #2 and 3)
funny thing i have a bugged save where its eternally a bad sun but i can sleep just fine. yes the sun goes down but the event happens again the next day
why does everyone think this is an scp reference? if it was a reference to when day breaks, the sky would be red, youd instantly die, and it would be permanent. i think they just had the idea of the sun being so fucking bright they had to censor it.
It’s in the same vain isn’t it? If they just copied 001 that would be lame. And as far as I know. Their isn’t another popular fictional story where the sun turns extremely deadly. So the only thing people can relate this too is scp 001.
the bad sun event changes the hue of everything, kills the plant life too and melts you alive upon any contact with it and the death screen reveals the aliens are gonna solve the dilemma by terminating the sun, which in when day breaks is literally impossible for the foundation but not for the aliens ig.
I've been thinking, and I think I know how to go outside during this event. To sum it up, I just imagined how it would be if I was personally there myself, and I eventually got to the conclusion that having some form of skin covering would be beneficial while running to the nearest shelter (Main base, satellite, transformer shed), like a hoodie with your arms pulled into the sleeves and the hood up, or in the game's case, a hazmat suit that seemingly has no other purpose as far as I know.
With it being a reference to scp-001 when day breaks, just a hoodie isn’t safe, you need to cover every square millimeter of your skin and eyes in stuff that won’t let light through or else you are in immense danger
@@lejogamer6274 Yeah, I've since reread the article on the SCP wiki after I sent the comment, and how it mentioned that the effect is on *visible* light, instead of ultraviolet light that usually gets blocked by glass and sunscreen. They also mentioned that wearing several layers is preferable. But at least in theory, having at least one layer should be good for the temporary "Run for cover" panic in the game, especially with how slow it effects Dr. Kel instead of how the article described as instantaneous.
@@shibainu2528 On top of that, this is theoretically ultra violet light that got through the magnetosphere, or if the magnetic field is gone then its the full power of the sun beating down on you. Skin coverings or sunscreen would help but you would die anyways because of the physical power of the radiation breaking you down atom by atom.
Aspiring astrophysicst here What youre observing is, most probably, not the sun. Photons cannot actually do any harm to all parts of the body excluding the eyes. If it were related to the sun, it would probably render any human blind, and the sun doesn't (or rather can't) flicker. However, this is most probably a weak gamma ray emission. Not a world-ending one, but a "diluted" one that could've been travelling for millena, and just happened to line up with the sun. For a game where space is the main focus, this mistake is disappointing.
not a mistake per-se, the intention is for it to be anomalous, and potentially a soft SCP reference. the sun being censored is an implication that it isn't harming you in a conventional way, which is supported by the fact that every time you take "damage" from looking at the sun in this event, you lose a chunk of skin and meat that falls onto the ground. The sun being censored is a gentle implication that if this were footage that could be reviewed, looking at the recording of the sun would produce the same violent damage to one's body it's an exceedingly rare event with a specific real-time based trigger, so it's supposed to feel extremely strange, anomalous, and unexplainable-- which is the exact kind of horror the rest of the game tends to employ the gamma ray emission thing is really interesting and cool to hear about though
I remember seeing on the VotV wiki around a day after the 0.6.0 update came out, and there was just a threat listed called "Censored Sun" with no pictures nor any information. I was so curious to see what it meant and... yeah, this is about what I expected. It's so creepy, and I love it. I wonder if this would have been permanent? I wish we got to see what happened if you tried waiting through it.
i waited through it and it seems to last the entire day. it wasn't as bad as i expected you just need to avoid the sun light. scared the fuck out of me though
@@flviir aw i wish i had seen this before hand lol, my friend sent me this video today and then i had it happen just like an hour ago. Spent the entire day decoding and scanning, then did sundown by doing hashes, less than 15 sleep the whole time. After midnight passed and i couldnt pause my game or sleep still i just closed out
i found out that if you solve the "puzzle" he puts you in you get 100 energy when you wake up, so far i only managed to complete the corridor one, just run like crazy and dont look back haha
@@lforlost131 Those weird places he takes you when you pass out, i dont think all of them have a solution (at least i couldnt figure out most of them) but some have, for example the hamburger plataforms you need to find all of the shiny hamburgers around, the corridor one you just run on the opposite way of that weird light that keeps growing until you reach a door at the end, if you manage to complete it you will wake up with full energy
this event is a pain in the ass if u dont have the coffee machine yet ( like I did lol) basically the entire day wasted and getting caught over and over by the sleep demon cuz u cant sleep and cant really get stamina back any other way
@@flviir Yeah, I mean with the sun being so bright in this event I can kinda see it making sense but like after 18:00 its already getting dark and still. Or like if the day would go by a bit quicker or so
I went through 7 chocolate coffee bars in order to keep me away from the sleep demon, after running out of sleep multiple times. It didn't help that not only did the obelisk event occur along the bad sun on that day, but also got the wendigo hauntings and trippy looking trees. I was so confused because I couldn't sleep for almost 2 whole days
I just got this. As far as events go, this is a rough one. It's really, really damn cool, but man if this happens it's just a wasted day. Can't sleep, can't go outside, and if you're caught without coffee or anyway to gain stamina, you can't even work on anything and just spend the day collapsing. I guess it's two wasted days, since my transformers were at 40% the day before, and I guarantee they'll blow before it ends. I'll have to spend tomorrow sleeping and fixing every server/transformer before I can do anything else, lol.
@@flviir It turns out I was being a little dramatic. Around noon I finally passed out and had a nightmare. Managed to find a door and woke up with full stats. Around 20:00 the sun started going behind the mountains and I was able to do stuff on the east side of the map without taking damage.
You can avoid this by going into the saferoom that's inside your bedroom, which was originally boarded up. Grab your clock, some food and watch some videos until the sun calms down. Oh and the sun doesn't seem to do any damage to you while you are operating your ATV. That'll probably get fixed soon.
@@ashtonblake2001 the sun event happens randomly. but the monster part I think he's talking about the alien creature at romeo he spawns every day and walks around romeo at night
I loaded my save again and got the bad sun a second time and checked out what happens if you make it through the entire day, once the sun sets it won't hurt you but you still can't pause or sleep
The fact that there is a siren to the event shows us that it has happened multiple times so it is probably a worldwide event [Not my information got from another video]
