00:48 - Part I, The Bike
02:27 - My Six Criteria
11:40 - Part II, Sunny 16 Photography Rule
Choosing a bike from the plethora of options available came down to six criteria specific to me and my needs and wants for whatever bike I would end up purchasing. Price, daily use, reliability, repairability, capability, and size were what I identified as my priorities.
Part II @ 00:11:40 is for the Foto part of me, a brief overview of the Sunny 16 Rule of photography for exposure metering in bright sunlight. Check it out if you are interested in regaining some control from all the automation now available in cameras, to improve your photography.
Cheers and thanks for watching!

You made the right choice of bike. A good choice. Interesting photo technique too. I’ll give it a try, once we get some sunshine (here in the UK). Keep up the good videos 🙂

This video was a long time ago and I’m past 17k miles now… It is still a great choice of bike :D Let me know when you can try the photo technique, it’s one of my favourites and I’ll be interested to hear how you make out with it

I'm happy to hear that! I wasn't planning on this being a review, just the reasons I picked this bike, but I'm glad to hear you found it useful! Thanks for checking out the video

Great Vid Kfoto, This randomly popped up on my feed but I'm really glad I watched ( love the sunny 16 tip! ) I have recently down sized from a Triumph street triple to a CB500x and I actually get so much more use out of it! if your ever in the UK give me a shout, I'd love to show you some great riding in Wales. I can highly recommend changing the front sprocket to 16 tooth.

We have holes like that on Main street, one of the reasons for going with the CB500X, lol.

Exactly! It’s not just for off-road but rough city driving as well. The roads around Miami are trash and I appreciate the bike’s capability every day

Greetings from the UK in lockdown! Agree with everything you say about the bike. I got a CB500X last July and love it to bits. It's a no nonsense motorcycle that can do a bit of everything. I haven't taken it touring but have done 300 mile round trips with no problems whatsoever. Check out ItchyBoots who took a 500X all around Europe.

I loved itchy when she was out cruising the world, hoping to she can get something rolling again now that she is in S.Africa. I would love to ride my bike in the UK or Ireland- maybe the Lake District! Ooooooo! Have you added any accessories to yours or are you riding pretty much stock?

Nice video! For the first time I am surprised about the price. Usually for about anything prices are cheaper in the USA compared to here in Europe. I've bought a brand new 2020 cb500x with heated grips, central stand, 12v socket and grip protectors, taxes, fees,... included for 6900 euro. Anyway, I like the bike, the only thing I don't like it's the fact that it is very good at almost anything which makes it a bit boring 😊
@kfotomoto
@kfotomoto 3 года назад
Yeah I get you on the price. I guess the lower petrol costs balance things out, slightly but yeah, purchasing a bike here, and in Florida, is a bit pricey. You got a damned fine deal on yours! And I agree on the bike getting to be a bit boring since it’s an everything bike. But still, I have fun riding every day on this wee pony :D

Hello from a fellow 500x rider. Consider dropping two teeth on the rear as I did. For the amount of off road your doing it will hardly make a difference. But on the street it changes everything. You won’t even have to change the chain.
@kfotomoto
@kfotomoto 3 года назад
Rear sprocket drop?? I hadn't heard anyone doing that, just swapping out the front up to a 16-tooth. Can you explain why you chose to drop two on the back vs adding to the front? Did you have a specific scenario that made you make the change?
@johnbentley6835
@johnbentley6835 3 года назад
@@kfotomoto I bought a used rear wheel on eBay for $160 which included original sprocket and rotor. Plan to put aggressive rear tire for dirt on that one. It’s very easy to swap rear wheels for whatever the type of riding I’m going to do. No chain change required.
@johnbentley6835

@@kfotomoto also, I did put the 16 tooth on the front also. At 65 on the freeway I’m no longer looking for another gear.

Nice! I just had some new rubber put on my bike, the Dunlop Trailmax Missions with a 170 on the rear. They are pretty great, if you are looking for a more aggressive tire.

congrats on your purchase car mechanic here and also a returning rider as you... 1. 7200 euros walking out the dealer door (greece) 2. yes 3.YES !!! 4.spark plugs only are a pain in the ass but ok doable 5. yes!! 6. 1.80 cm height i had to buy 1171 givi windshield for full coverage honda started with super cab 50cc not 125cc yes it needs to be just a bit longer ive installed a 16teeth front sprocket ( no other mods needed) its perfect now tip for better rearview with your mirrors. allign your mirrorbars just beyond your grips. almost in half the distance between grips and levers. secure the mirrorbars. adjust your mirrors. enjoy... thumbs up nice video subscribed

Greece! Nice, I have a feeling the roads are better for riding in Greece than here in Miami... Everything is straight and flat here! Agree on the windshield- should definitely have been taller from the factory. I've been thinking about adding the 16-tooth front sprocket... Did you feel a large loss of torque after the change? And thanks for the suggestions! My bike is still all but stock so I'm looking to make some adjustments :)
@ae70gts
@ae70gts 3 года назад
@@kfotomotodriving in greek roads is a continuous adventure 🤣🤣 There is no such thing as a straight road with no bumps.... 16 teeth sprocket causes a little bit o torque loss but no big deal Full luggage 2 persons full equipment 10% uphill Bike starts and accelerates with no struggle Less sreaming when traveling 100/130 km/h Lost about 10km of top speed though...
@kfotomoto
@kfotomoto 3 года назад
Nearly every road in south Florida is straight as an arrow, a grid... It gets monotonous unless I can find some curvy roads :D Still on the fence about the sprocket. Average highway speeds around here are about 75mph and the 500X hangs around 6500 rpm at that speed. It feels wrong even though it's not up near redline yet.

Too funny. I've always wondered what CB means. Now I know. Mine is a Country Bike tho. I live in Florida out in agricultural areas. You make a very excellent video. Thanks for sharing.

I did too! I’m a bit jealous of living in agro areas- the streets of Miami are all just straight grids with lots of stop lights 😩

@@kfotomoto Dude, I've been to Miami pulling a horse trailer. That was like 15 years ago and I still remember the insane traffic 😱. You are a very brave soul kicking it around on your CB in that. I just get to the outskirts of civilization and a car cuts me off and I'm done. Time to head back to the sod, cabbage, and tater field roads. You expertly explain this bike and all its ins and outs. Well done. I put a bling custom Corbin seat on mine. Zero ass pain every since. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Zd549nfw9K8.html

May I know your riding style/ preference? I'm thinking of this bike.. I like to ride at low rpm ( 4000rpm) n still get enough power/torque. N at this rpm n speed how is the vibration?
@kfotomoto
@kfotomoto 3 года назад
Hello! Absolutely, happy to chime in! I mainly commute on this bike, riding around town at no more than, say, 55 mph. In this, I L O V E this bike and it is fantastic. 1st gear is very short so I usually stay out of that gear, using 2nd to pull away from stops. Vibration is a non-issue as Honda did a great job damping vibes with plenty of rubber mounts and handlebar end weights in the grips. Keep in mind, however, that this bike revs higher than you would expect- 45mph in 5th gear will get you at or around 4k rpm.
@TomalBhattacharjee
@TomalBhattacharjee 3 года назад
@@kfotomoto thanks.. but some you tubers has mentioned about vibration issue past 4000rpm.. presently riding a 250cc bike from Yamaha.. which vibration on the handle bar n Foot pegs between 4000 n 5000 rpm..
@kfotomoto
@kfotomoto 3 года назад
I can see it as something to note but this is a nicely balanced twin. I hardly notice vibration whatsoever. I used to have a ‘78 Kawasaki 400 and that thing best me up pretty good. The CBX is great though after a few hours riding and I start to feel a bit numb in the throttle hand.

49 horsepower? I thought they all left the factory with 47 (46.936) bhp or to be exact, 35 kw? Is there something I am missing?
@kfotomoto
@kfotomoto 3 года назад
You may be correct! I put that " ~ " in front of the hp as I keep reading / hearing diff figures from various people so kept it to "about" 49hp. I am entirely un-expert in these things so didn't mind the approximation :) It doesn't feel like 49hp, it feels more like 35, now that I'm used to the power delivery and fueling. This was not a review, by the by, just the reasons I bought this bike. I'll make sure to do real figures for the upcoming review volume. Thanks for the comment!
