I didn't realize there was a crisis in Italy in the mid forties. I guess due to the warring, but still don't remember anything being mentioned in history about it, but I could have totally missed it, I'm sure. Just sounded odd to hear.
I didn’t know either. Here’s a snippet I looked up “What happened to Italy after WW2 was devastating. Italy experienced the destruction of industries and agriculture. The rate of unemployment rose, and the country's currency collapsed. The cost of living increased by 20 times, and the cost of goods doubled compared to 1938.”
