CAPE SECRETS
Stellenbosch is situated about 50km east of Cape Town, it’s the second oldest European settlement in the province after Cape Town. It might not be much of a secret to most. from its beautiful streets, it’s very well-known university to its duck parade and of course wine, but there are some pretty cool places you might not have been.
Like hidden valley wines, one of my favourite wine farms by far. It offers beautiful wine, art sculptures, unparoled views of Stellenbosch, picnic baskets and a breath-taking wilderness lodge ideal for those looking to escape the city for a few days.
Eagle encounters was the next stop on our trip, an active rescue and rehabilitation centre for birds of prey in and around the Western Cape. It’s a great place to learn all about these stunning predators, as well as a few other animals. The daily visitors entrance fees contribute greatly to the bird of prey rescue; rehab; conservation and education programmes. It’s great for adults and kids alike. There are a variety of daily interactive flying shows to join and personal encounter opportunities to experience.
And you can’t come to Stellenbosch without seeing Jonkershoek, a beautiful mountainous nature reserve with breath-taking views.
