Volcán Chimborazo 

Volcán Chimborazo is the highest peak in Ecuador and the “highest” peak on Earth, if measured from the Earth’s center (instead sea level). This massive ice-capped stratovolcano has over 4000 m of prominence. It last erupting in 550AD. We ascended the regular route and rested at High Camp (5,300 m), before our 1:00 AM start. The route was snow free so scrambling was easy, although very loose in some areas. Crevasses were visible and the few snow bridges we crossed were solid. 4 hours to Pico Veintimilla, and another 30 minutes to Pico Whymper (Chimborazo summit). I asked Chelsea to marry me at sunrise, with Sangay erupting on the horizon! The views were majestic, and this mountain will live forever in our memories and our hearts.
