Join us for a day trip to Volcan,. Panama in the province of Chiriqui. We included some drone footage of the fantastic scenery in this area. Please comment below and let us know what you think. Thank you for watching!
We love Volcan and have lived here for six years. This is the driest and warmest that we've seen it (record high according to our weather station we've had for three years of 86 yesterday). There are many families with children of all ages here and we have a thriving homeschool community. You almost made it to our property in your video (with the white tower). Much of the property around here is larger than property in Boquete and you will see many fincas with cows as a lot of the dairy for the country comes from this area. Thanks for posting a video of our town!
Thank you for your comment. We enjoyed Volcan very much and since have been visiting often. Great food and great people, not to mention the temperature and scenery.
Hi, as a possibly future retiree moving to the Volcan area. Do you mind if I were to ask you some questions about living there? I thank you in advance for it.
The video gives you some idea about what it is like in Volcan but you need to visit here to have a better idea about our town. I've been living in Volcan for over 23 years. I have never seen the temperature get into the 40's The temperatures range from the upper 50's to the lower 80's on my property.
Robert, thanks for that great info on Volcan. I'm from the US and retiring this year. I plan to retire to Panana, Pensionado Visa. Most likely to the Volcan area. Do you mind if I post some questions on that area to you here? I would so appreciate the help very much.
Hello, great informative video. I was there January 30th 2023 and loved it enough , considering moving there sometime near future. Is there a lot of empty business buildings for rent on the main stretch? If you happen to know average house price within 15 minute drive. Thank you
Hi, I suggest to check some of the on line realestate companies like encuentra24, inside panama real estate, Craigslist or Casa Solutions, to get an idea. There are always places available. Thank you for watching our videos
For the potential and landscape volcan offers, the new street design and arrangement has been the worst decision ever I say it responsibly. The trees ,the reductions on the lanes it's just a bad idea
Boquete and Volcan are marvelous places ...so what's wrong with that They are " out of place" Most of all Boquete ( and very soon Volcan ) is north americain city in Panama ( with few panamanians , very expensive to live according to panamanian wages) Some years ago I spent there the 4 of July .it was ( almost ) like USA
@Freedom 55 Adventure of course there's nothing wrong It's just a matter of speaking ( well portuguese speaking) I spent there good times and I hope you too as well.... I" m just sharing the point of view of some of my Panamanian friends For me Panamá is the best Latin American country to live most of all for it's people
Volcan is not the next Boguete. Volcan will be much bigger than Boquete because the area is much larger and there are multiple ways in and out of Volcan. There is enough room in the central Volcan area that a city could easily be built. The roads continue on to Serrano on the Costa Rica border, Cerro Punta, and also Caison through Barriles. Boquete is in a small grotto at the end of the road although very nice also. Many of us chose Volcan on purpose to avoid Boquete because of the large expat influence in Boquete.
@@swtexan6502 it is also more than a bit rainier as well as having a lot of farming chemicals. Also Cerro Punta might be a bit further off the beaten track than you want ... Not many restaurants, bars, supermarkets or hardware stores. Wild Bill chose to live above Guadalupe because it would be easier to dispose of inconvenient.... Uh.... Things.
This was a bit difficult to listen to. Some advice: If you come to Volcan [pronounced vol-CON] due to the changes in the Friendly Nations Visa, you will be required to purchase property. It a terrible change in the law. It increases the price of everything as more and more Ex-pats move here. And the locals know it. There's going to be some things you don't like. Keep in mind that you are a guest. People call themselves "Ex-pats" but they are immigrants. That's okay. Panamanians run things the way they do. For example, if you go to a fonda [pronounced PHONE-da] you will likely be served in a styrofoam container with plastic utensils. Less than ideal but that's they way it is. Darn tasty, very inexpensive. You know who isn't concerned with "plenty of parking"? Panamanians. Most get around by bus and taxi and it's fun and VERY inexpensive. A great way to practice your Espanol. You don't need a car. If you have ever found yourself complaining about fuel prices in North America, just wait. Want to get to a trailhead? Get a taxi. How do you get back? They will wait for you. Much more expensive but over a year, not having a vehicle will save you a ton. If you must have a vehicle, you don't need a giant SUV. Those monstrosities are pompous and out of place. You are likely going to have a housekeeper. Get to know her, practice your Espanol with her and understand she likely has an hour or more commute just to help you. Thank you for your consideration. Edit: Don't surprised if your housekeeper call in sick. She deals with nasty cleaning products all week, all year. Give her a break. Avoid solvents and bleach and such. It's mean. Ask her use use your benign products.
Lovely video, thanks. Love the changing weather. Just like home! Didn't get a sense of an actual "town centre" though. Is there one? We are considering trying for a month and would like to do so without renting a car. Also, might you point us to a good and up-to-date website. Interested in opportunities for music, art, etc. Many thanks.
Love your content, thank you! We visited Volcan in September 2022...would have loved to see more than what we were able, but time was not on our side. Considering Panama as a possible residence part of the year.
Like where am I? What am I doing here? Where am I going? There was some of that but a lot more that sort intro would have been really nice, get my feet planted better. Thanks!
Hi, thank you for your comment. Boquete is getting very pricey and busy , but many like the cooler temperatures that Boquete is known for. Volcan offers a very similar experience at a lower cost.
Great video. Thank you. I'll be retiring in the US in 2 months. I'm planning an exploratory 2 month long first trip to Panama in Dec. 2024. I plan to get the Pensionado Visa to Panama in 2025. Volcan is currently at the top of my list for my future retirement home.
@@mikecaprock9684 hi, I am sure that someone will answer your question who lives here. We live in David. There are FB groups that will be able to give current info as well. We like going there for a day trip, sort of like a mini vacation. We do know they have some great restaurants and the wide roads and parking is awesome. Great for walking and cooker temperature
@@mikecaprock9684 Volcan has more culture, cool climate, few gringos that makes it nice, new streets, sidewalks, traffic circle.....boquete is an Americanized resort town with bat sht crazy liberals, crap infrastructure...maybe go there for a day or 2, then run away...
@@justinjay9501 I loved your comment. Boquete, as a resort town. With so many expats there, that's how I imagine Boquete. That's why I'm investigating Volcan for my retirement. I'm conservative, love farms, the outdoors and peace and quiet life.
Bugs are an issue, but not as bad as they were for us in Kentucky. Our first house had newer windows with tight-fitting screens, so bugs didn’t really get inside. They do now with our antiquated jealousy windows and torn up, bent screens. 😂
@@freedom55adventure I'm coming to Panama next month for two weeks and plan on visiting Panama City and Boquete. Someone on line mentioned Volcan and am thinking of also visiting there. Are there places to rent that's near the stores are is Volcan more like a country city. Are there things to do for an old, single, female. Not partying but don't want to just be sitting in the house. lol
Hi, it's more difficult to get things done, period. Don't let people tell you it's no problem, because it is. You have to use Google translate or another translation app or have someone who speaks Spanish help with things.
Hey bro, is as simple as if you want to live in another country, you need to learn the language and the culture, and that's it, please dont be a Karen in another country, remember that you are an inmigrant.
One thing that is important to me is bicycling, and from what I can see from your video, when driving through town, the sidewalks look very nice for bicycling and walking. You can't say that about a lot of x pat towns. Can you tell me how much a liter or gallon of gas is? I'm an avid reader, Is there a library in town and would any of the books be in english? Thanks Bill
Yes they have a library in Volcan. We see some people riding road bikes around different parts of Panama. The roads are not wide and the cyclists share the road with the vehicles. If you come to visit you will get an idea if cycling will work for you here.
I appreciate your input and responses here. Thank you I need to swim for health, are there any pools open to the public??? I don’t wish to go to Boquete
