Technically, Melting Siren is more of a Forcefield busting tool than a robot busting tool... Also, that basic Volfogg is almost an insult. He was the most mobile robot on the show - hell, he was a ninja and he ACTED LIKE ONE. So him being a block is... yeah. Also, the gunmachines didn't only have one leg.
Considering that the unicron trilogy borrowed a LOT from the braves(Which is hilarious, as the first Brave[Exkaiser]'s toys were originally meant to be Transformers, but got changed due to it's flagging popularity in Japan.) I wouldn't be at all surprised.
Kinda belated, but the weapons? The Silver Moons are supposed to be boomerangs. The combined weapon is Silver Cross and is a boomerang-shuriken. The handcuffs are the 'Jet Wapper'...yes, that is the actual name.
Actually, the Melting Siren disables an enemy Zonder's force field in the show. As for Volfogg's character, I thought he was a pretty effective fighter. However, when it came to personality, I thought he paled in comparison to the conflicting personalities of the Symmetrical Docking robots, who just felt more interesting than VF. Volfogg was kind of just the awesome ninja robot who almost always was able to hold his own in battles. That's about it. Well, that and the big damn hero moment of him defeating Pinchernone by ramming one of the GGG's ships into the guy.
Man. The animators took a LOT of liberty with making Volfogg. I'm kinda impressed the cartoon stays as close to the toy as it does while being a well-proportioned and articulated robot.
First it's Prime 92, then it's TJOmega, now it's you... All reviewing GaoGaiGar toys of some sort... I need to wait till I finish watching Outlaw Star before going back to GGG! Stop making me want to watch it again! My next GaoGaiGar viewing will be my 3rd... Damn I love GaoGaiGar...
Gun Dober gets his name from Doberman as in the breed of dog, dogs are used by the police, why people like to think he's a cat or fox is beyond ?! Perhaps Volfogg could have done without the light and sound gimmick to make him more slimmer, but one key attack he had would have been sacrificed as a result, but then kids could use their imaginations. So Spada, you're carrying out Vangelus' oath of Bravery too now huh? :D
Oh yes. The transformation is virtually identical, is it not? It's even possible Cybertron Hotshot was designed as an Homage to Volfogg. Come to think of it...didn't Cybertron Hotshot get a police car-esque repaint at some point (probably would have been 1st Movie line)?
Would you ever submit your volfogg accessories to the 3d print process? I'm trying to 3d print the accessories and the helicopter blade box but cannot find any files for them. It would help a lot of us out.
I love Volfogg the character itself, but this toy kinda...sucks the super robot chogokin set cant transform...D: wish they can remold/rework the figure..
they should make a figure were it is perfectly fine with no problems because all you figure reviews always has a problem and its getting annoying to have a problem with a figure.
Bandai makes new version of big volfogg, the look and articulation is much better, but the transform and combine just not exists, with lots of swap parts
I find this figure to be somewhat of an homage to Shadow Dagwon. The Gunmachines transform almost the same as the wolf and the tiger,and the proportions are also similar to Shadow Dagwon's,with decent robot body but big,beefy arms.
