Whoever came up with this and approved it are straight up mad lmao. This is pure gold. The curb rash test alone made me feel the pain. What a content. Good shit.
I didn’t find out about TE37s until I bought my AVID 01s… but then when I saw that TE37 price lol. My AVIDs have been a pretty solid wheel, had em for 5 years and only have one scratch.
Well I'm ecstatic! Did the giveaway on Facebook for the avid wheel and I won! Sent the email address over and just waiting for the confirmation now 😁 Thanks guys! Now hopefully someday I can get a set for my GTI!
You guys should so do it just driving with a cheap car too (if you try this again with another wheel comparison), and just hit MASSIVE potholes and bad roads and see what happens
I have the gloss black Av6 for winter in my 22wrx. I literally ran over an island curb to avoid some road work. I thought I poped the tire and bent the wheel. Nothing wronge. No dent still balanced drive strait as an arrow. Weird coincidence you guys did this. I was super surprised how freaking strong these are for a cast wheel! Waiting for more options come back in stock to purchase summer wheels. That's was painful to watch but pretty hilarious 😂
I’ve had AV06 in white for about a year now and they hold up well. Couldnt get TE37s due to back orders so I cancelled. I need to use my stock FG4 wheels during fall and winter cause the roads are terrible here in NY, especially curb rash at an all time high which i need to buy some rim guards.
They’re both pretty much the same but the TE37s are lighter and better for racing, the Avid 1s are good for a show car build/ daily driven car. If you don’t have a fast car and want wheels with a sleek look then Avid 1s are perfect and affordable. All in all this is my favorite style of wheel ever
I'll take a set of either.i mean a 5k set of wheels on a s13.. let's be real, it isn't realistic. Well for me. Two kids, a wife, building a decent street car, and making less than 50k a year. But man I love the 37s. I may never be able to afford them but they are amazing looking. But people bag on reps, but I would never be able to get the look otherwise. So when it's time I'll be having to buy the reps. And I'm just fine with that. Thank for content, even how bad it was watching you guys curb those wheels 😬
I have these same avid wheels and recently I curb checked my wheel while doing a shuffle. I almost broke the lip off, somehow it held air and it didn't go off balance. I drove the car for a week like that while I had the replacement wheel shipped.
I had my avids for 3 weeks and went to a shop and they said 1 was bent never hit a curb or any major potholes wish I I got something different but the look is very nice
Looks like THOSE AVID 1's held up pretty well!!! Yes, the Volks we're stronger in a sense, they SHOULD, especially for the Price you pay for them, but BOTH wheels did really well due to the ABUSE they sustained from the Abusers!😂
@@palerider4629 ended up selling them at almost 9 years of ownership. To the day I sold them they never had a single bend or crack. I never curbed them once. I had them on 2 different cars and drove them both reasonably hard. Well worth their cost. I think the problem arises when the wheels take a hard shock like curbs or huge potholes or when you put them on cars that make big power.
@@carbondrapes ah I see. I've seen them get a lot of hate because they're reps but tbh they look so damn sick especially in matte black. I want to put em on my G37 sedan and then lower it. Someone recommended me the enkei t6s which are a bit similar but aren't reps but the avids look nicer, its a tough choice.
@@palerider4629 funny enough my wheels were matte black but I wanted gloss black. I ended up powder coating them gloss black and then right after I did that they started selling them in- you guessed it- gloss black. In all my years of having it I never got shit for having reps. It has a lot to do with the people you hang out with. Nice expensive parts can be appreciated but in the end it's your car and I don't really care much for what other people have to say about my car.
@@carbondrapes ya I don't give a fk about other people's opinions but I was just worried about the hate they got for being cheap reps that could potentially break but after what u told me and also had other people say they had em for years with no problems, I might go with them then, thanks a lot.
The te37s not going into pieces in the explosion says a lot about the safety of that wheel in the event of a crash. Cast wheels require a lot of material to reach that level of safety.
had my advid av06 for 5 years only had to replace one due to damage my fault, but overall good everyday wheel since i live in the city with high curb scraping is unavoidable also good size tire will also play a big role too with the wheel.
*Damn good question! So, if not Walmart then somebody M/B'd those tires. Why the hell does a firm named Fitment Industries not have best-of-type, absolutely SOTA, road force mounting and balancing machines? If they do, then why not employ them? Yeah, I'm new to this channel but regardless, this gives off a poseur vibe they do not need. Cheers!*
*Well, ask the Fitment guys! Looks like a propane weed-burner on AR-15 frame. Kinda resembles ones Elon was selling awhile back at SpaceX's Hawthorne Airport site store. Or ask Jeremy the McLaren driving god-king. He used one in the greatest razor commercial ever* ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-s92UMJNjPIA.html *Play it loud in 4K. Cheers!*
This is ridiculous, wasteful, and painful to watch... MORE! Between this and "Driver to Driver", the guys in this video have quickly become my favorite car youtubers.
