This video is showing how I was able to fix my reboot looping issue in my 2014 Volkswagen Passat TDI SEL with the RNS 510 with navigation radio. I have owned this car for 3 years. The Fender startup screen has always been jumbled up since I owned it. The radio would usually start up after about 30 seconds. Recently the radio started to stay in the boot screen for longer periods of time. Sometimes taking as long as 30 minutes to boot up. I started researching online for a fix and saw that this was a common problem with the RNS 510. I saw that some people online said that they were able to fix the reboot loop problem by updating the RNS firmware. I googled RNS 510 Firmware update and was taken to Ebay. There are people selling copies of the firmware update disk on there. There are a few different VW firmware updates available so you need to make sure you are getting the correct version for your radio unit. Make sure you read the description in the ad to get the correct version. This video will show you how to check your current software version to see which update version you will need. I paid $10 for my disk so figured it was worth a try to see if it would fix my radio before buying an aftermarket radio. The video shows me doing the software update. It did fix my startup Fender Logo screen and the reboot loop issues. The Radio now starts up after about 15 seconds every time. I am very happy with the results.
