I'm in Sydney Australia and bought my 2016 VW Scirocco R Wolfsburgh Edition brand new! Only 150 of these came to Australia which were available in White or Blue (I bought the Blue) and within the 150 Cars only 30 of them were manual (which I also went for). These were also badged and mine is 11/150! I do love the car and am more than likely going to keep it once my loan is finished as it will be a collectors item.

Just bought a 2010 Scirocco 2.0 TSI DSG Exclusive, which supposedly is extremely rare. Has also every optional extra except for sunroof, and I am loving it so much. Going from a 90bhp diesel economy car to a 210bhp light hatchback feels amazing, just the fuel economy isn't great anymore D: Has a backbox delete as well and it just sounds perfect. When the engine dies in the future, maybe I will go crazy and slap a V5 in there, just to be a bit different. Hopefully it stays with me
I owned a 1989 Gen2 Scirocco way back in 1992. I loved that car so much I decided the new Gen3 Scirocco 2.0 TSi will be my midlife crisis car. I picked it up last week and I love it.

You guys definitely missing out, we don't get the 3dr mk5/6/7 here in South Africa. so the scirroco is definitely seen as more of a sports car. They respond very well to mods, and are quicker than the golfs, i believe they are lighter and more aerodynamic. I'm running intake downpipe and software on my forged 2.0 TSI DSG and am very impressed so far, K04 next.

Hi, I live in Scotland and own a 2009 2.0 ltr Scirocco tsi . The DSG gearbox is smooth as silk and the car is fantastic to drive( my more sedate drive is a 1996 Jaguar xk8, 4.0 auto). Neither car has any modifications and are a joy to own. Great video, well done.
New owner of a 2017 Scirocco R, the Scirocco was my dream car growing up and hasnt dissapointed. I have a milltek exhaust, bigger intake systerm, wheel spacers, and a lowered suspension. So dissapointed to hear you cant get these in the US, If you are ever in the UK you are more than welcome to come and use. Great video man!
I watched your video. I had a 82 scirocco with a 1.7 that made 76 horsepower (in the USA) my neighbor had an 83 that had the GTi engine that had 1.8 with 90 horsepower. It was also geared much lower in 5th gear than mine, I liked my lower rpm’s on the highway. My room mate had a 78 and that was styled nicer than mine I felt
@@ThreePedalGarage it's strange you can't import them 🤔 can't see emissions being the problem as all engines are used in other VAG products over there, whats the deal ? Must be away around the 25 year rule b.s. Waiting until 2033 is a ball ache for sure...
@@neoquest2012 ya the weird part is if a car was not sold in the US from the factory we can not import them because they were never tested for crash Safty reasons. If you want a newer car to come into the us you have to crazy it like 3 times and make sure it passes all regulations. It’s a pain and a lot of money.
@@ThreePedalGarage I get it VW didn't want to impact Golf sales in the US, and as the Scirocco is manufactured in Portugal, maybe they just wouldn't have been able to supply US demand... 🤔 Here's a fun fact from England fella, The Scirocco was only £100 more expensive than the Golf equivalent when new, yet people still bought more Gti's than Sciroccos 🙄 guess it proves there really is No cure for stupid... 😂 Someone wise with money should start buying up mk3s over here and storing them ready for 2033, The US need some on the streets, A Timeless classic for sure.
I have a 2012 2ltr turbo model with stage 2 upgrade. Fantastic fun and gives most high performance cars a run for their money. Worth every cent. Manual as well, didnt trust the dsg auto gearbox.
I do like the Scirocco styling more than the Golfs. I wish they released the newest version in the US. Is the newest Scirocco the MK3? I would have bought one. Especially the R! I was unaware of a 25 year import ban! I owned a MK2 16v Scirocco that was modified with a turbo setup. It was never perfect with a slight exhaust leak but boy did I have a lot of fun with it before the leak became too bad and expensive to fix.
The Golf R is amazing, but there's nothing like a small 2-door sport's car! This cars seems like a cool build up to a 911 until you can afford one. So sad we don't have this officed in the U.S. But this is just one of many driving around Europe which we gotta wait til we're damn near too old to enjoy! Awesome review though, you really did your homework!
I completely agree with you nothing like a small 2 door sports car. The oldest Golf R and R32 were 2 door but comparing it to a 911 they are night and day difference. I’m hoping to get a 911 one day.
@@ThreePedalGarage Depends to what GTI you mean... The Mk3 Scirocco was built in 3 instances 2008-2010 Mk5 Interior, 2010-2014 Mk6 Interior, 2014 - 2017 Exterior Mk7 Inspired Exterior, mk7 Interior. Compared To the mk5, it is a superior Car., if you compare it to the Mk6, its truly a equal Car. But you have less weight! If you compare it to the Mk7, its a smaller and inferior. to be said: Imagine the mk3 like a 3 door GTI, with a sexier Body and less Trunkspace! ive own mine for 6 years and i still love it! Im putting an airlift system in it and i am K04-064 tuned
As a American living in Australia who own a Scirocco R and a Golf GTI ..... The 3rd Scirocco is a BETTER car......it would have TAKEN a lot of sales away from the Golf. I love my Scirocco R.... I have a APR stage 2+ tune + big turbo conversion (Stage 3) 500+ HP on 100 octane...... The car is MENTAL...... I eat tuned Golf R, RS 3, A45 AMG, WRX's for BREAKFAST!!! Even as a FWD car with the DSG gearbox which is a GREAT combination is all about getting the front tires to hookup them I'm GONE 🏃.....😂 I have EMBARRASSED many AWD & V8's in my Scirocco R it would be a GREAT CAR TO HAVE IN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! I would love to bring my car home..... 😔

Im in Uk and have 2017 scirocco 2.0tsi, not an R though, but i put small bodykit on it and wing and it looks more aggressive now 😬 will be going stage 2 at some point.. the last gen sciroccos about 2015 and up come with same engine as mk7.5 golf R, highly tunable and can push big power. You americans missing out 😝
I have Scirocco 2011 i would love to switch to newer one soon but for now this one is making me happy even on long trips. Month ago i pass 100k km hope ill have another 100k without issues :) Thanks for the video i did learn something new about the car ! :) I am still looking for Aspec bodykit in Europe but cant find anything yet. If any of you have more info please share. I never did tuning and stuff so i am new to this but i think its time to change something in my car :)

I'd always thought of the Corrado as the Scirocco Mk II successor. They do look remarkably similar, although something about the Corrado is more appealing to me. This Mk III looks like a squashed Golf! It's so very close in design, I fail to see the point in it. And quite frankly, at this point the 2-door hatch market is so overloaded with choice... I don't see a point in reviving the badge, unless VW wants to make an "exclusive" model as a step up from the 2-door hatch Golf. Something to rival the Audi A3 RS.
Andrew I really appreciate your walk through history approach. I am learning so much from your content. I was told that the Corrado was based off of the MK1 Sirocco. Is that a true statement? Another thing that I was told, was that the Scirocco, Golf, and Jetta are named after types of storms. Is that correct? Thank you!
So the Corrado was a completely different car but yes the Corrado was build to replace the scirocco mk2. The scirocco MK1 and MK2 were both based off the A1 platform. I know the scirocco was named after a storm but I don’t think the golf and Jetta are
@@ThreePedalGarage I may have confused storms with winds. Found this online. Many of Volkswagen's most famous models are named after winds. The Golf refers to the Gulf Stream, Jetta is German for "jet stream," Passat means "trade wind," the Scirocco is named after Sirocco, a Mediterranean wind, and the Polo references polar winds.
@@johnstorms3324 that’s pretty cool! I do know the golf was either named after the sport, Golf or yes the golf stream! Pretty cool facts though an I wouldn’t be surprised if that was true!
