Matt, I hadn't considered or really knew much about the T-Roc until I watched this review. So anyway I picked mine up yesterday and am really enjoying it. Keep up the great and enthusiastic work.
@@wedgett1 If I were allowed to drive it more than 5 ... sorry now 10Kms I could tell you. No I'm loving it, seriously fun to drive and just hugs the road. Sure digital radio would be nice but I use my phone so all good. Surprisingly enough room in the boot for my large golf bag and buggy. All in all, really enjoying it.
Took one for a test drive the other week and the biggest takeaway is that the thing is on rails. It turns in so well , handles beautifully and has a decent amount of poke. The car is really quite zippy. I’d be interested in some comparison reviews against other cars in its class. Yes it’s got some cheaper trims, but in reality the T-Roc is all about the driving experience and it has this in spades.
Yep exactly right! I was shocked at the price at first, but it's inline with other AWD competitors and it is the most refined drive of all. Would I rather a Golf GTI? Sure. But for those who want a bit more room and a punchy engine, it will do 🙂
@@CarSauce yeah in terms of direct competitors there isn't much around. Kona N Line and Seltos GT with their 1.6L turbo engines feel gutless in comparison (and aren't AWD) and the Audi is another step up in price.
I have a polo gti with 1.8 TSI engine. It’s bloody fast and the handling round corners is superb. I wish the t-roc’s interior has the expensive feel you get with BMW and Audi.
Hi Mat, had mine 4 weeks now i agree with you on the get up and go I love the dsg gearbox ,manual and sport mode paddles on steering wheel I can’t help but give it a fang all the time.
Top review Matt, though a little disappointed.... “give it some power?” Noooooo GIVE IT SOME SAUCE! haha! The T-Roc is a high contender on my list for when I’m purchasing next year. VW are also releasing a 1.4 TSI with traditional 8 speed auto. Will be the “base model T-Roc with the “style” tag. It’s meant to be available end of NovEmber/December. I’d be really keen on this, because as you know I am not a dual clutch fan. Keep up the good work!
Sounds like a little hoot to drive, will look forward to driving it! I find lower power does not go well with DCTs, so this should be a better pairing!
Another great review Matt but you didn't mention the CD player which is fantastic be leaving the country because you can't always get radio stations and you don't always want to use your phone
Curious to see how it does off-road since it's equipped with different off-road modes. Obviously it won't take on harsh terrains, but it would be interesting how it does in sand dunes/soft sand beaches, mountainous & unpaved roads, inclines/declines. THEN I'll decide whether to go for the T-Roc or some other SUV.
Great fun video review! I am torn between getting this and the kia seltos gtline. Ive drive tested both and no doubt TRoc as a more firmer comfortable ride than Seltos. Not to mention the quietness of the cabin unlike seltos which is noticeably louder. The cabin noise on the seltos is whats making me pick TRoc at the moment. Both sales agents have been following up and i an yet to make a desision. Tough choice.
The T-Roc is a better car overall, but I think the after sales support of the Kia will generally be better, especially with the longer warranty. Good luck!
I believe this one if from the Portugal factory, as China factory makes for Chinese market and Germany makes the Cabriolet variant for now (could be wrong, happy for someone else to correct me if so). And yes it is a pity, but it will come for sure. Because of emissions it is only a matter of time :)
@@CarSauce any chance we can put in request for a review any specific vehicle? I am tossing between GLC 300 4matic with air suspension, which will make my wife happy, and a BMW 340i for my own pleasure. I see you have reviewed BMW 3 series but M340i may worth another look.
Looking to purchase the 140 Tsi sport to sit alongside our 162 Rline Allspace. Looked at the facelift tiguan 162 Rline but the price VW are charging for the latest models has become ridiculous. $60 plus thousand for a golf GTI !? In 2017 i paid $39k for one driveway
140KW from a 2L TUBRO = respectable ................. Oh man , I hope thye paid you well. Nice video btw. I hate VW in general, but I do love the exterior of this one.
Would be great if I got paid, but then it wouldn't be very objective would it 😁 KW is only one element of why it's quick. The AWD system, 320nm of torque and dual clutch means that it goes, and goes quick, especially when it builds boost in launch control! The 0-100 at 7.2 seconds is definitely the quickest among its competition, and it feels it 🙂
I have a 110tsi version on order with all options but for the extra money I’m seriously considering the 140tsi with options. For the extra money it just seems you get so much more...a 140kw engine, AWD, fully colour coded, nicer/bigger wheels. Also torn between this and the Audi Q2. Help!!
This is the only nice looking vehicle in VW line up now that they ruined MK 8 Golf. They should bring the T -Roc to Canada but have analog gauges, better interior materials, wireless charging, and get rid of those fake exhaust!
The cuts of you laughing/reacting to acceleration on the road seem super forced and don’t make sense considering that’s not the selling point of the car. Great video otherwise - keep it up!
Go drive one and you'll have the same reaction! Didn't seem forced to me at all... seems like a VW with the 140Kw engine which IS a selling point of the car.
