My Octavia has now nearly 150.000km and had barely any problems with it. Changing oil and filters every 10k - 12k kilometers. Only issue i have is with the ignition cables, i changed them three time so far, because they melt very easily, but bought some protection for them and everything is nice so far. This engine is like a little kid, take care of it and everything will be without headache. Have a nice 2022!
The 1.2 TSI engines built before 11/2011 had issues with the chain. They used to fail pretty early - sometimes at 30.000 km. After they re-engineered the system the problem was solved, but still it would be advised to replace the chain every 100.000 km.
Mine was built in 11/2011 and got the old chain. It got its first chain change just a few days ago at 254.000 km. It rattled but didn't cause problems yet.
@@moses468 i got the same CBZB engine .....and i discovered after year of replacing "faulty" components that the ECU software was faulty and was showing bunch of random errors that really never occured but still put me in limp mode
I have the 1.0 litre TSI 115 BHP found on the newer generation 6 Polos and my god does that thing pack a punch! Barely have to touch the throttle pedal and the car is about to take off, same with brakes super sensitive. Another thing I'll have to get used to is shifting. The car stays dead silent even at higher revs which means I sometimes forget to change gear. I was doing 15 mp/h on first gear and the engine wasn't making a sound.... So far very impressed, but these modern engines/transmissions and gadgets are going to take me some time to get used to coming from an old 2010 Honda hatchback.
I have a seat ibiza 1.2 tsi. And i have to say. For a small engine, it flies! Its obviously not Cupra performance. But it certainly has a hell of a punch! I upgraded from a 1.2 honda jazz that i added high lift Cams & Forged rods ETC. It was naturally aspirated. But due to those modifications, the reliability went WAY down. I love my Seat so far!
I came from a 2010 hatchback with a 1.4 litre 150 BHP engine to a 1.0 litre TSI 115 BHP Volkswagon Polo gen 6 engine and the thing accelerates effortlessly. Barely have to touch the throttle and I'm already going well into 15 mp/h. The other thing with it is the engine is dead silent the entire time. So now I can't rely on sound for my gear shifting as my old car always roared at around 2k revs.
I changed first chain on k20z4 honda at 250k not because it rattled but i felt like its time to change it... Its reving everyday to 8.5k rpm for past 10 years. Now the car has 380k and its still going strong after 30+ track days. Reading about these audi engines makes me wonder why people buy them at all...
240.000 km in 10 years with this engine (1.2 TSI 105 hp) and still going strong. Serve it, warm it up and accelarate... Car is a (underrated) Seat Toledo 2014
My car has 250 000km. Third timing chain, second turbo that recently had the wastegate actuator fail. Also engine at this point is so worn that I can't use stock 5W-30 oil because everything starts rattling. Lets see how far I get before it finally gives up for good. Update: 260 000km and engine is done. Oil full of metal glitter.
Which engine, and which model (of which year) if i may ask? I heard there were many different 1.2 tsi engines. What are you using the car for? Short city runabout, commuting to work or longer highway trips? Thanks
@@CoreMaster111 i have the same engine 119000km on it runs smooth and is chipped pretty powerfull now. It uses a little bit oil about 1l at 5000 or 8000km but in the the futufe i want to upgrade the engine with a hybrid turbo and an new 1.2 engine looks like a fun project hahaha
@@CoreMaster111 i got 1,2TSI CBZB 2010 .....and i just replaced everything on it and still check engine light and it still use to shove me in limp mode
I have the 1.2tsi 66kw polo with cjz engine. Have 320000km now and only 7 years old. Only changed the timing belt 1000km ago since i bought it. Water pump was the only major part i replaced on it as it is a common problem on these engines.
I own Volkswagen Golf VII 1.2 TSi 77 kw CJZA! I am really happy with it. U need to take care of the motor. Use a quality oil and treat your car as a baby.
Hello from czech my 1.2 tsi 77kw cjza ea211 golf 7 2013. Now 47k km. 0 Litter oil to change 10k kilometers. Consuption 5.2l/100km. Better then diesel 👍👌🇨🇿😎
Oil consumption PCV failure causing other issues mainly rear seal leakage Timing chain tensioner failure causing major engine damage Direct injection causes intake valves and intake manifold to build up huge amount of deposits Bad sealing camshaft cover causing oild leaking on the water pump hose causing it to crack Coolant leak on the turbocharger actuator causing it the cease and engine runs weak. Good engineering 😂
@Jakub2020 remember to change the whole system (belt tensioners rails etc= if you just get a new chain it will wear down quicker if the tensioner is loose already
Injector rail bolts randomly snap due to metal fatigue spraying petrol everywhere (20k miles). Leave it parked for a week and the engine management light and EPC light come on due to turbo wastegate sticking. Both expensive fixes that quickly offset any saving on fuel. Getting less than 48mpg. Not a good engine to work on.
if you have vaccum CBZA wastegate then just open the hood and yank the rod sticking from actuator to turbo exhaust it does it ......and bolts snapping? never had the problem with gasket or cylinder heads
john doe Hi, my engine oil also smell like petrol. Also, i noticed a slight increase in oil level, which seems like the same issue as yours. Did you understand what the issue was? If yes, can you please let me know?
@@OnurKasemlar2 looks like I had the pcv valve problem. We are still not entirely sure if that resolved the issue. I will change the oil after few thousands of kilometers and then see if everything is fine. I had a lot of engine codes (p0441, p2237, p2195 and p0030) all related to vape and fume reflux and whole system didn't function correctly causing wrong engine's crankcase pressure and fumes. Had to change high pressure fuel pump and o2 sensor. And finally after p0041 we figured out it's tube on pcv valve that is bad and is not holding pressure. So looks like whole vape system didn't work at all, causing the engine working in rich all time.
Hey there, i am comparing fabia mk2 and mk3. Both generation uses 1.2tsi engine. Mk2 with 86 or 105hp and mk3 with 110hp. Are those same engines and turbines?
My dad has this engine in his car, and indeed, the timing chain is too weak, and has become too loose. Needs this new set: www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/03f198229a-timing-set-1-2tsi-63kw-77kw-skoda-25113.html
This engine is truly excellent, and one of my favourites ever. But this smooth, anodyne video is designed for a marketing dept, it is boring and lacking in interest.
What you are experiencing might be the result of pre-ignition, caused by low octane gasoline. You could try high octane fuel ( 95/98 ) and see if the problem is solved or not. If this doesn't help I would go and visit an certified Volkswagen AG Servicecenter.
Abradon 01 thanks for your help. I’ve put a full tank of high octane fuel in and I’m half way through it but seems to of not helped so far. I’ve noticed it seems to ease off when the engine is up to to temperature, if also taken it to vw as it’s under warranty but as usual they’ve said there’s nothing wrong!
When I first got my A3 ( same engine ) I also thought there was something wrong with it and I took it to an Audi-Servicecenter, but they said it was nothing wrong. I now drove over 15000km with it, without a single problem. I would advice that right before your warranty ends you get it inspected again, just to be sure. But generally these engines last forever with good oil. Its especially important with small engines that your engine is warmed up to operating temperature ( first 4 km of driving ) before exceeding 2500 rpm.
how can they can lie in such a way about the torque graph of the engine ???? :))) :)) i drove it hundred times and max torque starts from 3500 rpm in real life
They didn't lie. You felt the power rising not Torque. You have all the Torque at 1550rpm and it stays there till 4100rpm. And while Power is RPM multiplied with torque, it makes you feel that Torque is highest at 3500rpm where instead it is power you feel.
Worst engine to exist rather use a pedal bike than go through the hassle of maintaining one of these my 1.2 tsi in my mk3 leon is a pile of **** sounds like a desiel sometimes engin mangament lights randomly turning on esp lights wiered strange knocking/rattling noise during idle and between 1200 and 3000 rpms and no its not a problem with the chain as its got a timing belt...
The diesel sound happens because the oil isn't circulating properly. They gave me a wrong oil filter in the store and I almost fried the top end because of that.
