you mentioned the bike weighs about 60 lbs and the battery around 10lbs. Does the 60lbs include the battery, meaning the bike without the battery weighs 50 lbs?

Thanks for the review, the site is hard to tell what it comes with any more. They are now showing the upgraded Befang color screen and it shows no photos of a throttle so its hard to tell what you are getting when you order this bike. I think I will get one as I need a commuter and I'm going to throw a back rack on this. Nice to see they upgraded the cable routing to not be on the outside of the rear frame making it hard to use a rear rack!

Hi so I ordered the Voltbike Outback (Rear Hub) bike awhile back but it is on backorder still. I could order the Enduro as it is in stock (at least in Canada where I live) but I have concerns that the mid drive will be problematic and not really what I want in that I just want something I can get on and use a throttle mostly and of course pedal also at times. The rear hub is somewhat easy to replace the planetary gears also. The 2 bikes are identical, just that one is rear and the other mid. Does the mid drive allow you to just use the throttle at times or do you always have to pedal to get assist? I understand also I'd need to be in an appropriate gear for the power to function whereas the rear hub you can be in any gear to get the power. What issues do you have with the mid drive so far? Is there motor noises or other odd problems or constant care?

The mid drive has throttle, it's just hard on the drive train. The mid is best for exercise pedal assist, hub motor is best for throttle.

@@makerico Thanks, I work on a Railway and walk lift and line switches for 10 hours so twisting a throttle is what I'm after.

Think about a mid drive as a manual transmission in a car vs a car that only has 1 gear. It's more work but you get a power band in every single gear that your bike has instead of a rear hub that only has a single powerband somewhere in the mid point. So with a rear hub you slowly start up then as you reach the powerband it has pep then as you reach the higher end you loose that pep. Rear hubs are great for get up and go and no thinking, where the mid drives take some thinking like downshifting before a stop light so you are in a low gear, but they are better for things like hills because you just drop a few gears and you have full motor power in that gear. I am torn between hub and mid but I think I love mids a bit better because once you get used to it it like.... ridding a bike pun intended!

@@steve_main Great description.. lol I bought the Enduro (also a folding hub drive bike) and I totally love the mid drive bike more in that it's much more controllable in terms of how much pedal force I apply! What should be clearly explained between mid versus hub is if you remotely think you're going to do some trail riding where your gonna find yourself in spots where you have to weave in and around tight clearances (trees, rocks etc) then definitely get the mid drive! With the hub as soon as you touch the pedal the power kicks in at a strong force to whatever assist level your in and in tight stops like jumping a puddle/ muck hole the power is full and you'll be spinning and dodging your bike. The mid drive in this approach you have to pedal because it always needs pedaling to work the assist and if you pedal light you'll only get a miniscule amount of assist applied so you can gingerly maneuver your bike nicely through obstacles.
