This electronics video tutorial provides a basic introduction into varactor diodes also known as varicaps which can behave as voltage controlled capacitors. The junction capacitance of the diode is inversely related to the reverse voltage applied to it. Varactor diodes are very useful in tuned circuits and voltage controlled oscillator circuits.

I know this video isn’t really Ochem oriented, but it’s your most recent recording and so I wanted to thank you for all your help here since you’re more likely to see it. I’m a biochem major who just finished Orgo 1 with a good letter grade, and it is with no small thanks to you! Your videos are so incredibly helpful/educational that they kept me grounded throughout the course. So I’ll say it again and again: Thank you, thank you, thank you! You are one of the greatest teachers I’ve ever had!

I just saw in the news they invented a new type of transistor called a josephson transistor. Which I'm just guessing, but the name seems to imply it uses a josephson junction. Which I'd only ever heard of being used in quantum computer. And a special circuit that's used as the standard definition for what a volt is. In any case, diode or not, they're interesting to learn about. But a bit advanced for this channel, I think. I could be wrong though.

Please make some physics, mathematics and chemistry videos, bored of electronic circuits. It is college level and not even necessary for high school. All your videos are great though and you are the best! Love u ...

Interesting. I never heard about variable capacitor diodes before. I am starting to have a vague idea about how truly complex electronic chips must be! So again, is the resonant frequency of a circuit the frequency at which the impedance of the circuit is at a minimum.

Hey dude I'm a big fan of yours , could you plz make video about how you study or prepare for a new subject if you are new to that subject. I m going through your chemistry organic part ,not finished yet but i the thing is i want to know how you become so good at different subject. Your study pattern , revision pattern , plz reply dude i have been commenting on your every video so i can ask u about your study pattern . Q.1 how old r u ? Q.2 was chemistry organic your major subject . Q.3 are u still in college or u r doing lectureship . By the way I'm a chemistry student . I failed my org - 2 . So plz plz make a video about your study pattern. Most people would appreciate that .

hello, great video! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I was wondering if you could help me with a project I am attempting to build? I am an electronics enthusiast hobbyist. Currently I am trying to build antenna's from wire called end-fed wire antenna. All these antenna's require a mechanical tuning capacitor which like the dinosaur are rapidly becoming extinct and ones that are avail what once were cheap are now getting expensive. I want to build RL tuning circuit to tune high frequency (hf) radio bands from 10 meters to 80 meters in the armature radio world and want to build a solid state circuit such as the one shown here in your video using the varactor, capacitors, and resistors. I have been searching the radio amateur world to see if anyone has built such a circuit to tune antennas but can't find anything. Frustrating! Most if not all new amateur radios today have these circuits built in and thus not really needed as they work with already engineered and built antennas. But in my case I don't have this and am building my own antenna lines which require a tuner. What I can't understand is how to build one using your method and that would handle 10 watt to 100 watt in power? Could you help me with this project and pass along any ideas you may have regarding this. All the best. George Alberta Canada

Thanks for sharing but 1-@12:20 why when increasing R2 we have decreased reverse voltage over the diode ? 2-what is the difference between pin diode and varactors ? 3-can pin diodes or varactors be used as phase shifters if yes then how assume for ex we need 3 bit phase shifter using pin diodes or varactors how can this be implemented ?
