In the start date of Voltaire's Nightmare, there's a province in Tunisia near Djerid that has Roman culture. A cursory google search says it's where the African Latin language was last spoken. I thought about trying to figure out how to culture swap and do a restoring Rome from Africa campaign but my patience isn't enough, at least not now when I could be achievement hunting instead.

Uniting germany on this map is about the same as conquering all of the european continent + North Africa and Anatolia.

You should play as NEW ENGLAND in the caucasus! You can play them in this mod by changing the start date, I did it, it was very, very challenging. Putting the wikipedia description in here to get you interested. New England was a colony allegedly founded, either in the 1070s or the 1090s, by English refugees fleeing William the Conqueror. Its existence is attested in two much later sources, the French Chronicon Universale Anonymi Laudunensis (which ends in 1219) and the 14th-century Icelandic Játvarðar Saga. They tell the story of a journey from England through the Mediterranean Sea that led to Constantinople, where the English refugees fought off a siege by heathens and were rewarded by the Byzantine Emperor Alexius I Comnenus. A group of them were given land to the north-east of the Black Sea, reconquering it and renaming their territory "New England".

5:27 "Gmünd" is actually an austrian town as of today. Whilst the german counterpart would be "Schwäbisch Gmünd" which would translate to "Swabian Gmünd"

About that Victoria 3 comment. It's not as dynamic as you'd think. As far as I understand the states splitting is just provinces. With states being the thing you interact with. There still are set provinces, you just rarely get to see them

I know that Imperator Rome has events after siege where you can choose whether you want to sack the city or not. I would like to see those in EU4 too.

There are those events, usually it procs when you siege the capital province. Im just not sure what are the odds. It doesnt happen all the time.

Hey, I love your videos. I've done some modding on Victoria 3 and those dynamic provinces you mentioned are actually set in stone. Each state internally is broken into a series of smaller provinces, those are what you take when you colonize/conquer, they're just not visually shown. It's also how the town's and roads/rails work for display.

18:54 what i want to know is, in this mod can you take provinces that arent on your border? cos i find it odd how if in real life there is always border gore with nations having tons of bits of land that arent even connected, how come we cant also do that in the game? i mean it would be dumb to do it cos u cant get troops there easy.. but it should be allowable.. how did they get such horrible borders? is it mostly from royal marriages and taking land from families? or was it from a big empire being gradually split up from giving away lands to siblings more & more?

if they are gonna make eu5.. please also push them to make dealing with rebels less of a tedious chore - make a button that moves the map to where they will spawn & highlight the entire province so its easier to see and we dont have to type in each province name to search for it - if we set armies to rebel stomp.. make them move automatically to where the next lot of rebels will spawn BEFORE they spawn so you dont get separatism afterwards - make rebels spawn once for each type and then never again - i spend like 2/3 of my time in the game dealing with rebels instead of playing the entire rest of the game - its boring - allow us to set where we want armies to rebel stomp as a saved template, so we dont have to click every province over & over & over & over & over & over & over again... WHY CAN'T GAME DEVELOPERS MAKE LIFE EASY FOR US? things that make the game less of a chore might make people give better reviews etc???

This world cup has been WILD. Argentina losing to Saudi, Morocco beating Belgium 2-0, Germany losing to Japan... and today my country Canada got rekt good by Croatia. Still enjoyable though! My bet's on France so far, possibly Brazil too! I'd love to try the mod, but I'll bet my left cheek that my PC won't handle it 😂 Edit: Excellent suggestion about the siege decision - part of how Mongols conquered so much so quickly was due to their ruthless reputation (combined with Genghis' ultimatums) that led to cities surrendering without even putting up a fight. Def something to add to EU5!

What is good with having small provinces is that it makes it realistic in two ways: First, well... I don't have to explain. You just have so many more creative borders you can create and it's also way more historically accurate. Another point often overlooked is army movement. In regular euIV, you enter a province and immediately enter into combat. It's the same with VN II (That's how I call Voltaire's nightmare II), but province are so much smaller that it becomes realistic. In regular eu4, it's like if you enter, let's say Augsburg province, and enter into combat, but you don't want. Provinces sometimes being hundreds of kilometres across and having to fight an ennemy which may actually be at the other side of the province is not so realistic. So it's nice VN II includes that. Also I would like to see you playing another start date like 1240 or 1060 and maybe even 1618.

People play up the bordergore-bit way too much in this mod. Every video about voltaire's nightmare is the same because of it. Sure, the provinces are crazy, but we are map gamers. We love that shit.

Hi laith, what are your pc specs? Cause when i try to play voltaires nightmares it takes the game 20 seconds to load every month tick. On speed 4 it runs just like normal eu4 for every month tick is does this 20 seconds of freezing. Your game didn't seem to do this, so i was just wondering what pc specs you have or if i'm doing something wrong.

Day 24 of asking you to do the Croatia challenge. Become free from the rule of austria. Return old yugoslavia borders. If you want to spice up the challenge here are some extra rules: You cannot ally austrians, serbians, montenegro, ottomans and russians. You must stay monarchy, try at the end of a challenge to be a top 10 great power, cannot import or export to austrians, ottomans, serbs, montenegro and russians (later in the game that is not early)This is for Victoria 3 that im saying.
