Me, classic animation like this, can’t be compared to cg animation of today’s anime, and not to mention those iconic mechanical sound effects is priceless.
Think about this, starting late, next year, Saturday morning cartoons will begin to make a gradual return to broadcast TV, as CBS has announced it'll compete with MeTV's SatAM classic cartoon block as it's ending its broadcast agreement with Litton Entertainment and this news can have a domino effect- both ABC and NBC will eventually follow suit. Reforming the CTA of 1990 will be the very best way to ensure this re-transitioning. That being said, since Universal owns Voltron, NBC execs will look at this special and commission an hour-long Voltron reboot with the first hour with the Lion force and the second with the Vehicle unit. The next era of Saturday morning cartoons is dawning on broadcast television- stay tuned. Additional info will follow over time!!!
I never seen 2 voltrons in one cartoon scene before. I must've missed it when i was a kid. But looking at this, i jizzed when voltron vehicle formed his blazing sword and then followed by voltron lions sword, it's like double whammy that I never thought would happen 😂 i turned into 8 year old me again haha.
same sentiment here. we both have the same age..i think we'd watch this @ same time, long time ago because this was only aired one time when were both young..maybe were 12 years old at that time.
I’m 56 and nothing more enjoyable than watching this classic anime with your grandkids, and telling them this how anime in those days are made, I am still after all an Otaku fan.
When they both team up ..I always get the chills...lol.. just like when I first watched this back when I was a kid. I'm 46 years old and I'm still loving this👍🏻💯 same with he man thunder cats gi Joe all the 80s cartoons. Great time to be a kid.
Remember the 2 teams were mentioned in both shows before like during the episode where the Lion Voltron attacked Planet Doom and after they won the team was relaxing in a field of flowers and Pidge mentioned he was going to write to his brother and then we see the Explorer and her fleet and in that large room where we see the Vehicle Voltron team talking about letters they got and Jeff joking about getting a message from someone on the top deck and Chip told them he got a letter from Pidge saying how things were going on Arus and if they might get back together or Galaxy Garrison sending them to another trouble spot and in an episode from the Vehicle Voltron series the team was talking about letters and Chip was expecting a letter from Pidge but it never came and he nearly got in trouble with the Air team when he wasn't present to launch and Lisa reminded Jeff that Chip and Pidge weren't just brothers they were twins and at the end of that episode Pidge's letter finally arrived and Chip was reading it where Pidge mentioned what they were doing on Arus from Pidge working with the Space Mice to their positions on the Voltron force with Pidge saying 'I pilot the Green Lion and form Voltron's left arm which part are you on your Voltron you should be the head you were always the brains' that part still makes me laugh and remember at the beginning of this as the Castle of Lions in Spaceship mode was heading out and they were talking and they showed flashbacks of both teams at the space academy with Chip and Pidge talking about their height where Chip was standing on his tip toes to Lance and Wallo being at the pool and yanking Cliff right in to Hunk and Rocky practicing their karate to Allura imaging things with herself and the girls and showing an image of Ginger with a crown of flowers on her head to Keith and Jeff having a shooting match that neither one of them won because they were both crack shots.
PIDGE (Lion Voltron) and CHIP (Vehicle Voltron); should have gave each other a hug!! Afetr all (According to the Voltron story line); they are brothers!!!
I remember every morning before school, I'd watch Saber Rider and then Voltron. I used to be disappointed when it was vehicle Voltron episodes. But, when this movie came out, I was blown away. Being a kid in the 80s was the BEST.
But still no word on what happened to "Gladiator Voltron" Made up of 3 different robots. Last I heard due to the success of Lion Voltron and the lack of fanfare of Vehicle Voltron. The powers that be chose not to air the Voltron from the near universe. Shame. I would have liked to see it.
I’ve always loved how Lion Voltrons blazing sword formed- but God it’s still sooooo badass how Vehicle Voltrons blazing sword forms as well! 2 spinning laser blades come together and combine to form the blade- just awesome! 🤘🏼
I have a job interview in about an hour. I got on to youtube to specifically watch this. It's freakin voltron! The most powerful robot (or in this case, robots) ever. His freakin' power is epic and the bravery of the voltron force (both lion and vehicle voltron) is just what I needed.
Ever since I was young, when 5:34 played I always got hyped up to the equivalent of "shit's gonna get real" lol. The way the Vehicle team just goes flying out ready to kick ass, gets the energy going all the time. Still does. Air Team all the way!
I grew up watching both Voltron shows too and when this came out I was surprised that they had 4 Robeasts that could do the same thing as the Lion and Vehicle Voltrons could combine into one giant robot now that was a shocker and I'm even surprised Haggar didn't think of doing that against the Lion Force Team I mean she had the Lion Voltron' blueprints and with all the giant robots she built to fight the Lion Voltron she didn't think of creating Robeasts that could combine.
The one part that still makes me laugh after all these years was the part when those Galaxy Garrison soldiers took on the Robots of Doom and were shooting them and as the robots were hit the funny sounds being made as they exploded was freaking hilarious.
This was made especially for the North American Voltron audience/fans. In reality Go Lion (Lion Voltron) and Deirugger (Vehicle Voltron) are two completely, separate animated series. I've always enjoyed both shows and leaned towards Vehicle Voltron more because of the more realistic plots.
Man when I first saw this and seeing Lotor pilot the Super Robeast it reminded me a lot of the episode 'The Sincerest Form of Flattery' where Lotor challenged Zarkon to a duel for control of Planet Doom and he ended up losing and even stated he wanted revenge on the Lion Voltron even stating he would become a Robeast to do it and that was when Haggar revealed the Giant Robot she built to exploit weaknesses in Voltron and Zarkon stated that she wanted Lotor at it's controls and ir's funny that ths episode we finally get to see that Lotor piloting a Robeast that was built to do just like the 2 Voltrons 4 Robeasts combining into one man that was something.
Man even though this was a movie it sure would have been awesome if they did an episode of both the Lion Force Voltron and the Vehicle Force Voltron teaming up like if the forces of the Drule Empire that didn't want peace like they showed in the last episode of the Vehicle series were to go to the Diamond Galaxy and were to join forces with Zarkon and lead an all out attack on Planet Arus pushing the Lion Force to their limits and they managed to send out a call for help and the fleet of the Explorer and the Vehicle Force were to arrive to help out now that would have been an awesome episode to see of the t.v. series.
The only reason Lotor lost to the Space Explorers and both Voltrons is because he was celebrating too early and thinking he already won for a super villain he was a complete idiot you should never celebrate a victory till your enemies are beaten first and don't gloat about it laughing like an idiot you should strike down your enemies first then celebrate.
Dont get me wrong I grew up with Go Lion and it has a special place in my heart. But Vehicle Voltron totally saved Lion Voltron's beacon. I really home Dreamworks gives Vehicle Voltron a series like the Legendary Defender series.
Right let's do it! Active interlocks. Dynatherms connected. Infrocells up, Megathrusters are go. LET'S GO VOLTRON FORCE! Form feet and legs! Form arms and torsos! And autoform the head!
both voltron's fighting side by side love the form up routines sold have loved for the explorer to be a bigger part with there voltron team but they where the lest favored and this is shown here then again they had a short power range when formed so that could also explain why ashort part but a favored memory all the same lets go voltron force.
My favorite is Lion Voltron he looks cooler, he has wings and his Blazing Sword is far more badass. I also like the simplicity of just 5 lions to make up voltron. Vehicle Voltron is too complex with 15 separate vehicles and 15 pilots. I also never liked his cone shaped head, the way the cars on his feet looked or how his sword looked.
5:39 - "Vehicle Teams - Launch!" ..... - 'Aye-aye Optimus! Let's ROLL OUT!!' lol I love how several of the same voice actors were used for a variety of the great 80's cartoons like GI Joe, Transformers and Voltron!! It was always amazing to hear Cobra Commander whenever Starscream would talk back to Megatron on Transformers!!
What i like about our generation we always knew what they were doing they would call out the weapons and path they were doing generation x is the smartest
Sorry pal I hate to rain on your on your parade, but the combining giant robot of the Voltron as well many anime giant combiner robots predates all those classic sentai giant robots, likethe Mighty Morphine Power Rangers Zoards
This was on tv Sunday afternoon and I sat and watched this entire thing . I remember how I felt in my heart when both voltrons came together and fought the end boss.
You can tell this was totally U.S made (WEP). The animators were still goofing up drawing the original anime. lol Nothing like the original (episodes 1 - 52)
