i am aware i'm 2 years late BUT i think lotor is gamora because of the relationship with his father. i mean. lotor hated zarkon. gamora hated thanos. both helped the good guys out of hatred they had for their fathers. except lotor turned back on them and gamora didn't but yeah i think that's why.
