Yoo bro, im agree with you, i have the same 2.5t s60 i have 320 000km on it and the engine is still working with no problems but the gearshift is the one of problematic thing on them

2.5 if it's the s60r block they are prone to cylinder walls cracking due to being thinner than the 2.4t..the 2.4t us much better for performance mods compared to the 2.5t but not doing anything with them they are both very good reliable engines

My 2013 C70 T5 sounds absolutely heavenly, I do a ton of highway driving and it was an irrefutable requirement that the engine would be quiet, she cruises and revs up so smoothly I couldn't believe how nice it is for a car over a decade old.

I have a 2013 C30 R-design with the T5, and it's my most favorite car. I have the K16 turbo upgrade, inter-cooler upgrade, and 3 inch down-pipe and exhaust, and a custom tune from a shop nearby. This thing absolutely rips. More than 400HP reliable to the ground with stock internals. If you build these out (closed deck build), they can reliably put down 600HP to the ground. Some of the best engines ever made and a very unique sound.

It’s always nice to hear about others taking these cars to their prime! Most people sleep on these cars, but a lot don’t understand that they can hold that power reliably but also dog on other cars that people would consider to beat it! It’s great racing someone and beating them only to see the Volvos taillights!😎

My son just bought a 2002 S60 2.4 turbo with 82,000 miles.... pretty good find! (drove 6 hours to get it) But he had been wanting another Volvo for several months (had a S80) but it took a while to find a good low mileage one close enough..

@@WhipGetters We've been looking for about 6 months... Last time we got a 2002 S80 with 90,000. But traded it in on a tuck for work.... Missed it ever since.... Volvo is a drivers car..! (wish it was a stick!) We paid $5,500, they weren't coming off the price because of the low miles...

@@WhipGetters Thanks! The car is actually naturally aspirated and my track car. Working on getting it caged and swapping in a P2 RN 2.4 turbo. (Not the T5 since the larger 2.4 makes more torque for its HP. IE. tuned T5 makes 275 ish HP and 275 ft/lb whereas a tuned 2.4 turbo makes about 240 hp and 275 ft/lbs. Since my TT class is power to weight based having a lower HP number let's me run the car lighter. So a tuned 2.4 vs a stock output T5 works better for the application)

If you’re worried about it, it might not be worth it for your motor. BUT! That doesn’t mean you can’t. Just do some research, find forums, blogposts or anything regarding turbos and your motor, you’ll be surprised with how much info you can find!😄

I just went to look at one today. Fucking stoked! It's such a steal with 86,000 miles ( 135,000 kilometers). 1st owner is an old man. I think it's going to be an absolute gem. Go test drive one and see for yourself!

Muffler delete, high flow cat, or a high flow resonator! Doing a mix and different alterations can make it sound different but good!😎

Trying to decide on keeping my 05 s40 2.4 non turbo.. I really would like to put it on bilstein b14 or other high quality suspension. This comp proves why they're great cars with powertrain. Worth keeping the i5?

Definitely worth keeping. Unless you want some turbo action you can grab the I5 turbo engines which are definitely worth it! Our S60 has BC Racing Coilovers now, but some high quality suspension will be worth it in any direction you take it!! It’s just what you see being worth your time and effort!😎

@@WhipGetters i got my 2.4i for a steal after waiting 2-3 years for it, knew nothing about it till I started researching. I could sell it after cleaning up for a good profit but it’s hard to let go. I would take the money and buy a diesel ml350 for my father. Mine is just a hair over 100,000 miles and sat for 3-5 years. I’m prepping to do a full timing belt and seal service. If i keep it it cost me a couple grand of potential profit, also a few grand in wheels, tires and suspension because I want to take it to the track :D

Custom exhaust system for the money, or you can choose IPD Volvo, or Elevate Volvo exhaust systems! Custom you can do your own style, don’t know much about the P3 chasis Volvos, but if that’s a turbo model, a down pipe will give you the biggest nuts and the nicest noise!😎😮‍💨

We’ve gone custom 3” full straight pipe, but it’s not ideal. It’s really up to you! If you need a good direction, there’s Elevate exhaust system, IPD Volvo exhaust system, and plenty more you can do! Just find what you like!

Volvo, just like all the other car brands, will have body or chasis codes to determine the “family” they’re in. So for instance this car is a P2 chasis which was mostly comprised of the year bracket 2001-2010. Now there’s P80 chasis and P1 chasis too and several more. P1 chasis is in that year range of body styles too but has a different motor setup and configuration and not the same chasis as the P2. Yes, they might all have 5 cylinder motors, but they are setup differently and placed on different chasis. The P80 is around the 1990s gap up to 2000ish. They are the older and different style chasis but still came with the 5 cylinder motors. We hope this makes sense and it’s not too confusing!😮‍💨

Imo, these motors sound a little cooler NA than turbo'd if they can rev out pretty high. Unfortunately, there isn't much of an aftermarket for Volvo 5 cylinder cars, and what little there is, is mostly for the T5's. Which reminds me, I need to get my S40 rolling again. :/

You’re right the aftermarket industry for Volvos are almost to a none. But there are plenty of websites that offer a lot! If it were up to us, we would have another Volvo but make it NA. Almost reminds us of the M5 V10 in some sorts with the NA 5 Cylinders!

@@drtm1718 not much for a Volvo 5 cilinder? You can find almost everything from Pistons to carbon engine covers. You just have to look at the right place.
