Sat for 6 years? Put the key in, starts in a few turns, drive it home. Oh, and change tyres to avoid blow outs. This is why we love Volvos, they are unstoppable. It's a really nice car and will scrub up well. Cheers.
What a gem! And the AC works!?! I'm thinking maybe that needs to be painted and become your new daily! Besides you already have a 240+T wagon that needs your love too!
The problem is… I don’t need a daily. The other thing is the lady wants to build a square headlight 244. In come a b230ft automatic with a 3.31 rear gear. Great highway car!
Please don't swap engines on perfectly good cars. What you need for content is to start going beyond just getting a car running and instead pick one and get it to be a solid daily driver.
Idk, maybe let him make decisions about what he wants to do with his own channel and content. I know it's a radical departure from the status quo but I think it's worth a try
Please start your own channel detailing all of the aspects of transforming a project car into a reliable daily driver. This is a great idea, please don't let it go to waste😀
Hey Dean. Thanks for the video! Love watching your adventures. You guys are one great team! So good to see 940 running like a champ all the way home. 🎉❤
@@silasayres6332 If I had a 142, and I am not saying I do… but if I did, I would LIKE to share it soon but I’m not sure the channel is ready for ANOTHER awesome project…
....and starts right up 😃 my only serious accident was over 30 years ago with a similar brick. A rollover at 120km/h (75 mph) with a 760 GLE. Came to a stop on the wheels, engine was still running quietly (6 cylinders), gearshift in P, engine off, door could be opened, and so I got out and was absolutely uninjured except for a few bruises from the belt. I probably wouldn't have survived in the average European car of the time. That's why I still feel a special connection to Volvo's 7 and 9 Series.
Great to see the co-host roll expanding. It was nice to get some confirmation that my b230 makes mostly the same (normal?) noises as one that has been sleeping for years and is on old oil 💀
@@DeanofMachinesOh terribly so. It has a soundboard of like 20 noises it can make at random at any given time. It's really desensitized me to engine failure paranoia
@@DeanofMachines I was very surprised😵💫, just turn the key and go 😁🤗, maybe the paint looks a lot better on camera🤗 Can’t wait to see what you have in store for this one🤗
Love your videos buddy , hear in UK Volvos are getting super expensive especially the 240. I was thinking to myself please don’t be that guy that makes his beautiful wife drive the crappy Volvo with questionable tyres home 😂😂 I know plenty that would 😂
While I do have a tendency to push her out of her comfort zone, I only had her drive the 5 miles, under 45 mph to the gas station near the highway. That way she did not have to drive truck and trailer through the narrow country back roads. Have you found Simpsons Classics yet? Hes in the UK
@@DeanofMachines see your a great guy for doing so 😎 simpsons classics not heard of them I’m trying to find a manual which is solid underneath and needs work as I want to turbo it , but people are asking 5k and such
@@medievilassassin Look him up! Marc is a friend of the channel. Old Volvos are actual classic cars now. To find a nice, ready to drive 240 or 700/900 series, expect to pay 4-5kUSD here. I find a lot of rough cars that need work. It makes good content!
Great car and a great find! I would keep it as it sits and try eithet a cut and buff video or maybe a paint and restore? I know that might be overkill but maybe someone with a bodyshop locally would assist? Seems a bit to good to rip its heart out even if that was the intention for it??? Good luck!
@@DeanofMachines Nope. My S40 is a FoMoCo-owned, cost-reduced, CAN bus nightmare. Would love to hear that glorious Volvo 5-cylinder sound from a RWD car though.
@@adamv242 Many years ago I worked with a company that dismantled 90s and 2000s era Volvos. It was a bummer to see FOMOCO stamped on everything built after 2001
Wow I’ve found a channel on RU-vid that saves old Volvos that’s great! But a closer and he’s not really saving them (by giving these a service which they desperately need). He’s kind of ruining them. Which makes me so sad. These Volvos are such great cars. They are built to last even if they go unloved for 30 years (which they do most of the time). But the Volvo curse seems to be they are not very exciting cars, that go up in value and they are still a good deal of them left. Because they were built strong. But this won’t be the case for much longer, since no one cares about these cars. They never give them a chance. They just put a big turbo on and drive them till the wheels fall off…
Fear not my friend. Once the channel is bigger and better funded, we can save more of the cars. Sadly the 940 sedans just aren’t worth much so it doesnt make sense to put the money into it.
Plz don't swap god runing cars. Wat you can do is, if you have The blue 940 left. Then remove that engien & put something els in it, & restore the undercarege. Saay if you have a engien just laying around & not take from a god runin car, use that. & the under erea, put New shocks, new swap bar, stronger axel White welded diff & so on. & I recomend if possible, put a 12 walw cummins in it or a big block in in. Do something unic! Mix american cars White Sweden. & do as western Champlin, & put a cumins in a Eco bosted Mustang yes 🇸🇪🇺🇲 & yes it is not like The Lamborghini swaped 245, but it is still goona be unic! Yes
These are all great ideas but I am not as well funded as larger channels. We work on a tight budget and try to keep these projects relatable. Westin Champlin spends a month and 50k to build a car that barely runs for a 20 minute video. Id rather build working, functional, road trip worthy cars.
I would just VIN swap the white wagon. I am sure another will appear in much worse condition. No one cares enough about old Volvos to check. Especially if you live in a state that does not do emission or safety checks on old cars or issue titles on old cars.
