Volvo B7TL deafens you with its cooling fan (VLA54 LJ53BBO)

...that title is pretty much the only description I need for this to be honest, but I'll crack on.
It's a tired old B7TL. It makes a lot of noise without moving particularly fast. There seems to be some kickdown, but good luck hearing it. We got overtaken by an LT on a hill after I stopped filming.
I uploaded this because I ran out of good footage, oops.
This bus was serving route 176 to Tottenham Court Road.

I love buses with loud cooling fans like these, I used to love these and get scared of them at the same time makes the bus have that its struggled and went through alot type of vibe

This is what I knew N's VLAs for, pretty much. I was surprised to see they still run on the 176. That is one sluggish plum there, but at least you got some sort of kickdown out of it! I'll tell you this: I would not have watched this so soon if it wasn't for...that title. 😂 And I put the volume on max and was dissatisfied - wasn't loud enough. xD

Yeah, they're staying until November. I'll miss the sound of deafening cooling fans you can hear from a mile off... kinda :P I try to keep my titles interesting, but there's always someone who disagrees :P

GloriousWater Nah, keep those titles coming. :P WN's VLWs still roar a bunch though I believe. I've taken two roarers and a squealer on the 221, but it's a bit North for you. :P You're lucky you have more DWs up in Croy. I have to rely on the 142 which usually gets boring LJ55s. VLA123's down in Garston though and VLW129 is a monster. ._. Cooling fan about this loud, and the front blind is stupid.

Oh, I wasn't planning to stop making them lol Most B7TLs used to roar. Nowadays some have the cooling fan mod to make them quieter, while some are still hoovers on wheels... I kinda want to do a GR DW though because most of Croydon's are clapped out now. As seen by DW36 (still sounding screwed) or DW105. Shame really.

GloriousWater Oh good. :) Those mods are lame. And good analogy actually - "hoover". You want a GR DW do you? Well, there's the 258 and 142 as your best chances. But Watford are weird and like to chuck some on the 303 or 305 on occasions. And DW134 has some broken screeching sound. Either 134 or 144. It's YJ55 WOA or something... or WOV actually.

Yeah, I know about the covfefe that happens with GR's allocations. I did WOB in like 2014 and it was *floored* all the way to Brent Cross, arriving about 10 minutes before the VLA that left in front of it. Fun times.

I have been on buses like these in Doncaster sitting at the back. I always wondered what this noise was I thought it was the engine!

After a break I see this and I now question when did VLA54 get that crap in my absence of not having a single VLA at all since 2's complete conversion to HVs. Though, they're all tired to be honest, they did a good 13 years, only course of honourable action is death/scrap.

Barking (DX) has some for the 128 and were frequently used on the 173 and they were in fairly well shape after 13 years in service so I'm guessing its just N's maintenance of these
