Just wanted to say thanks for the video. Our new to us XC90 has what seems like a bevel gear failure. Shop want's nearly $4k for replacing it and I suspect I'll be doing it myself instead. This was exactly what I needed to make sure I was up for it.
Let me just add some info that makes this job a lot easier, if you loosen the oil cooler from the oil pan (4 screws) there will be a lot more room to get the angle gear of the trans. Also if possible remove the vibration damper from the angle gear first, you could twist the angle gear by removing the bolts holding it to the trans to create more room to remove the nuts holding the vibration damper. And about your first modification not working was because your welding was so poor, you had no penetration in to the input shaft on the angle gear. If you had made a better weld it would have worked with no problem. Cheers from Sweden 🙂
Vielen Dank.
Was hast du alles hingeschickt? Über eine kurze Antwort würde ich mir freuen. Beste Grüße in den Norden aus der Pfalz Michael
BORIS GRACIAS POR TU VIDEO... TENGO UN VOLVO 1999.. BATALLO PARA LAS PIEZAS PUEDES HACER UN VIDEO DEL SOPORTE DE LA BARRA CARDAL.. COMO SE CAMBIA.. GRACIAS
Good day. Seems like i got similar problem. I do have a noise probably from front angle gear. I vent under car and noticed passenger side dribe shaft seal is badly leaking. Please can you give some info about seal part numbers?
Question: Can you replace that seal on the transmission side without removing the collar sleeve if in good shape and still suck in the transmission? I have a manual transmission gear oil leak and I suspect it is the seal on the transmission side. Thanks for a great video!
Hi Jason, I am not shure if I understand correct. The change of the sealing should be possible without removing the sleeve but it would be much more difficult to remove and also to get the new seal into position. Pls have a look if this is the seal you are asking for: www.dropbox.com/s/vp8wtkzjmrhqwgw/20200111_185207.jpg?dl=0 The sleeve is not easy to remove but possible like I have shown in the Video (I did it 2 times for the Video :-) ). Hope this is helpfull. All the best from Germany Boris
A very good video on how to remove the bevel gear/sleeve. I'm having this done tomorrow on my Volvo S60R. The shop will start with the main culprit, the sleeve and the we`ll take it from there. If i had a decent lift at home i would be doing this myself. Thanks again for a very nice video. What was the total time taken to complete the work?
Hello Ian, I had to send the bevel gear to the shop what took 1 week to fix it. If I would count only "my" time most likely one weekend because I enjoyed it and had no pressure to finish
@@borissassenrath9746 Thanks , I've now had my bevel gear replaced. It took two and a half weeks before i could get it rebuilt . Both the splined sleeve and the shaft were stripped. Total cost Swedish Crowns 16500!
Hallo!
@@bensomerville6748 Hi Ben, sorry for the missunderstanding. The Lift type is: Carleo SL-563S. is running on a seperate Hydraulic tower with 230V. I baught it used for 900,-€ on E-bay
