VOLVO C70 MK2 UPGRADE FROM STANDARD TO PREMIUM & DYNAUDIO

WELCOME TO MY UPGRADING TUTORIAL ON MY VOLVO C70 II
I bought this car with the standard version, and hell yeah, now is finally the "summum" version, the top of top.
It had 4x20w radio with "paper" speakers:
Front: 2x tweeters with 2x 6,5 inch woofers with no crossover/filter
Rear: 2x 6,5 full range speakers....
BUT NOW it has:
Center: 130w, 1x tweeter + 1x 4" mid
Front: 130w each, 2x tweeter + 2x 5" mid + 2x 8"woofer
Back: 130w each, 2x tweeter + 2x 6,5" woofer
Back seats: 150w each, 2x 8" subwoofers
I also upgraded some metallic parts to wooden parts. Here in Europe is not very common, and I like having real wood in my car too :D
For the amplifier I used a 1290w MATCH UP 7DSP, german brand car audio, and it works great, with free software included
In the video you will see the original Volvo Premium Amplifier with Subwoofer Amplifier. Here I got really frustrated, I explain:
My car is the “standard” version, and the subwoofer amp with the premium amp can’t be plugged to my car, the CEM doesn’t “activate” them.
My CEM has numbers for the chassis 4xxxxx.
The CEM of the models with High Performance or Premium Sound, has the chassis 8xxxxx.
In summary.
When I connected the premium amplifiers to my car, the CEM checked the compatibility numbers and it was not compatible. Juat for that chassis number. I have lost 250€ in Volvo for nothing.
But now is everything working with an aftermarket amplifier and it sounds really good ;)

Can you show how to install rear subwoofers only? I have premium sound. How to connect rear subs? How to connect sub amplifier? It's not shown in your video...

Very nice video and much work! You did a great job! I like the wood very much as well. I was curious whether to upgrade the window buttons to chrome like in Bentleys. I have the 2006 c70 II with high performance sound and was also looking for an upgrade. The Volvo dealership here in Vienna said they won’t do it, too much work and not enough profit, they sell cars instead. So on my own I installed a Grom audio kit to have an aux input. The sound is nice and crisp but you know there is no such thing like too much bass. From there can you tell me how much effort it is to upgrade to the infinity premium system or the subwoofers at least?

Hi KMR and sorry to bother you. I love your video and I would love to do the same upgrade on my C70 T5 but I need some help from you please (pretty please i beg you lol). Any chance you could tell me if when you fitted the aftermarket amplifier the CEM checked the compatibility again? Does it just simply work just like that with an aftermarket amplifier? Also would you please let me know where did you buy the premium Volvo Dynaudio speakers from (I mean the whole set as shown at 00:18)? Also where did you buy the red things you used when you fitted and screwed the subwoofers in place? I would greately appreciate your help and to be honest I would even pay for your "consulting services" if you would like to assist me in achieving what you've achieved with your Volvo C70. Thank you!

So am I , I do the same thing to upgrade my V50 from High Performance to Premium Sound. Dynaudio speakers & 650W OEM AMP work fine , but can't activate the surround function ,even install S/W 30664501 in Volvo dealer still fail.

Hi. I already have dynaudio in my c70, but dont have the rear subwoofers. As i understand all i need is subwoofers themselves (p/n 30775282) and the amp (p/n 31210238 / 30775587) correct? No sub module?

Hey I was just wondering if you could help me out. Im trying to install subs behind my rear seats, but there's a metal box behind the seats just barely not allowing for enough clearance for my subs to fit. Did you encounter this problem? If so how did you resolve it?

Hey, loved the video but i do have one question, i just bought a 2006 c70 t5 with Dynaudio, but i think it didn't include the subwoofers. Do you know what would i need to add them to the car?

Hi !, Thanks :) . Yep, In your case IS VERY EASY (you are lucky) . You just have to buy the subwoofer amplifier for this model (is also the same as for aston martin) + two subwoofers + 10 screws with 10 plastic screw holders (the red ones I have shown in the video) and cable conexions (you must buy a optical-fiber divisor adapter; two males and one female - this is for the conexion on the rear of the trunk between the amplifiers) As for the final step, after all the installations, the car need to be updated with a new software - subwoofer option. This you can do it in a car dealership volvo OR you with a laptop and Vida - VDash (more complicated and risky).. Calculating, this will be between 200$ and 400$ Good luch ;)

I would also like to ask where the subwoofer amplifer should be mounted (Is there a factory location) and what specification subwoofers should i get (How many watts and ohm) or should i get the original Dynaudio subwoofers. This is my first Volvo so I am not that much educated on all of the stuff. Next thing is i need aux/bluetooth.... That will be fun haha

Thanks. You must read the description of the video. I have put the original premium amp + sub amp + software update, but my car has the basic chasis: 4xxx .. and the cars that have a premium or high performance amplifier (preinstaled in the trunk) has a number which starts at 8xxx.... Even with the software update in the car, my CEM was reading wrong numbers which not appears in his list (only reads all the fiber components which starts at 4xxx.. the number of fiber component.) So, you see in the video - I had to buy a 7 channel amplifier with DSP to be able to power all the speakers.. but is better, because it has lower electric consume than the 2 original amplifiers. :D

@@alexsa122 , so from what i understand, because of the CEM programming problems you've encountered after installing the OEM "premium" amplifier, you had to revert to the original OEM "high performance" amplifier setup and then add the new 7 channel amplifier (with DSP)... Is that correct?

Hola, tengo una duda y no se si tu me puedes ayudar, quiero conectar los speakers y por lo que e investigado viene la conexión aparte de la bocina central, e visto que unos compran un adaptador para poder conectarlo y otros lo conectan con un amplificador aparte, mi duda es ¿que tengo que hacer o cual seria la mejor opción para conectar los speakers? Tengo un Volvo s60 2001 estéreo HU-803

Muy buenas! Los altavoces "premium" deben ir conectados a un amplificador a parte, es decir, el que trae tu modelo. En tu caso es más simple, necesitarás un cable especial que parte de la radio al amplificador. Eso sí, prepárate para rehacer todo el cableado. Tendrás que desmontar la mitad del interior para pasar cables nuevos. Suerte con el montaje!

@@alexsa122 if you remove the radio, zou can drain the cables next to the ventilation pipes down to the green connector. Nice video, I sell these audio sets in The Netherlands.

@@FishFreddie Exactly, you are totally right, but is not my case. To provide signal to the new DSP Amplifier, is better to connect it like in the video.

Is the wiring loom already available for electric seat conversion like you did?

YES! All Volvo's car have the electric wires same, prepared for electric seats. Just plug in the new seats and that's it. I have "recalibrated" the seats with Volvo Vida software because I wanted the memory function. But if you only want the electric seats working, you don't need the software to do it. Just as I said before; plug and play :D

Luckily I have premium audio already. But I have an ‘06 so I have no aux input. Can I just swap in a newer radio with an aux input and have it work?

Hi ! No, you won't get anything adding a new radio. You have to buy the "aux" kit in the volvo store. The part number is 30752453 and also have to buy the "usb/aux" kit . It's a total for about 250$ + installation.
