The Volvo D12 engine has a lot of sensors that fail prematurely without any warning, sometimes they cause fault codes to appear, this is one of those sensors that does not throw any faults when it fails mechanically.

Anything that interferes with the MAP sensor’s ability to monitor the pressure differential may upset the fuel mixture and ignition timing. This includes a problem with the MAP sensor itself. If your MAP sensor is going bad, you will notice surging, rough idle, a rich fuel condition, and a loss of power and fuel economy. This turbo boost sensor can be filled with soot which can lead to incorrect reading of the sensor.
The sensor is located on the driver side right above the Engine ECU. The location of this sensor is on top of the intake manifold and the harness connects inside the Vectro Box.
