Volvo launched its compact premium five-door family hatchback in 2012 to take on rivals such as the Audi A3 and BMW 1-Series.
In 2016, it got a minor refresh which included new grille mesh featuring an updated Volvo Iron Mark, new ‘Thor’s Hammer’ LED headlights, the addition of five new exterior paint colours and a total of eight new alloy wheel designs.
The V40 is available with a choice of three petrol and three diesel engines and in five trim levels with prices starting from £20,405.
We're testing the T3 petrol on R-Design Nav Pro spec with a six-speed manual gearbox which costs £24,845 OTR.
