Hi. I tried to follow the rule, at first drain put back same amount what came out. I think it was around 3 liters. Second train I added same amount and extra - anyway the final oil level is regulated through the small screw ... so extras will drain out. As I look this video I just bought 9 liter for 2x flush and final refill.
did you reset the computer for this? the computer has to be reset every time. Also you should be using the Volvo diagnoses software to do this to get a proper temperature
No, I did not reset gearbox. I did not have ... and still do not have any issues. For that reason I did not reset adaptions. If there should appear some problems with shifting, I would go to independent dealer for resetting. About proper software for temp. - I think is overrated. Anyway, oil will expand when heating and exsess is drained out. Was it at 50, 55, or 60 does not matter so much. If you let it too hot, there will be lower oillevel when cold. If you drain it too early, there will be higher oillevel when hot, but I think there are plenty of room between those min and max, that you will hit, when you measure temp from outside.
@@garageproductions359 fair enough. Too each their own and I applaud you that you are willing to take this on. It’s a pain in the ass and expensive. I just do mine at Volvo. I will say thank you for showing how to check the oil in the car. That was a cool video.
Ir is very similar, the procedure Is exactly the same. The oil specification for TF71SC Is: JWS3324 The fill plug (Torx 55 shown un this video after removing Air filter box) will tell you WS World Standard. In muy country i found Toyota metallic cans 4 liters each (1 gallon) y bought 2 cans and this the same process shown here. 1 drain. Arround 2,4 liters (quarters). Repeat 2 drain. Same as first drain. Drove for a few miles, went trhough all gears. 3third AND last. I did mine with less mileage as this design does not allow filter replacement, AND i did not wanted to remove oil coffe coloured. Car works perfect. City AND road wise
Hi thanks a lot for the video, i’ve just bought a v40 and it was of a great help, seen that the channel is based in Estonia, and luckily i do too, do offer service as well?
Hello. Good luck with the Volvo. Hope it serves you well. At this point of time I do not provide service for others - just some DIY videos about the subjects that rise in time with my own car.
Thanks for the video. What is the service interval for the transmission fluid on these boxes please? In years and mileage if you have the info. Thanks.
Hi. As I found out by Googeling, there are no fixed answers available. According to some Volvo forums it is stated, that gearbox oil should be changed around 80000 or 90000km. Some says 70000. Some says never. Some says it is in the middle of the cambelt change service. If cambelt should be changed around 140000km I assumed, that it was time for me to do the gearbox oil change at 88000 km. I had no previous history of earlier gearbox oil change and I did want to be sure that I know what is the status of the oil in the gearbox. Next oil change to gearbox I will do at 150000.
Hello, thanks for the video. Just for my information, what is the reason of flushing? Also, do you know the oil type and characteristics that Volvo is recommending for the transmission? thanks
Hello. In my understanding, without flushing, you will not get all the old oil out at first attempt. Basically oil cooler, piping and torque converter still consists old oil when you drainage the gearbox. After some flushing you will see the outcoming oil starting to look a like the color of the oil, you put in.
OK thanks, so it is the Liquid Moly ATF AW-1, Ok I see, AW-1 is the required one by Volvo for my Volvo D30. So this means that you got approx. 14 litres extra AW-1 for the x2 flushing, am I getting it correct?@@garageproductions359
Hi again. I did not buy 14 liters extra. I did this oil change around 2 years ago and for not remembering so much I looked the video again. At the video I can count 9x 1L bottles. Did not buy more. Thing is, when I opened drain plug, I think there comes out around 2,5-2,8 liters only or something similar (only this oil, what is in gearbox). So basically, in 2x flush I added as much came out. With last topping I added all leftover (maybe 3+ little more liters) and then set the level by draining through leveling plug. So all extra came out. Eventually 2x flush and fresh oil in.
@@garageproductions359 thanks a lot for your reply I was worrying about it seeing as I bought the oil and tools to do the job , even got a scan tool to measure the temperature, then i watched a video that says I had too reset the transmission or the cars computer system or the car would not work properly so I priced the Vida scan tool a thought oh crap that's too expensive ,even if I did have it I don't think I could work it ,so I'm very glad your car is running well and hopefully mine will as well once I've done the job , it is running very well at the moment but I'm trying to make sure it stays that way 👍
