The best coolant/antifreeze would be a long-life coolant with at least a 50/50 mixed strength, ask at your local auto parts store.

I agree, I owned 3 namely a V40, S60, and an XC 90 T5 excellent cars, safe reliable but a bit pricy on maintenance, altogether a worthy buy though.

@@vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790 Yes not cheap in the spares department, and in general you had to buy from the agents as well, as not a lot of aftermarket here for them. But they do run well, and knew a mechanic who loved working on them, as they were so reliable, and relatively easy to maintain. As he worked at a dealership he got a good price for spares to keep his ones in perfect order. My late father had a fleet of Volvo trucks, and yes the spares all came from Kempster Ford. He had a few owner drivers, and the one came in one day to tell him he would not be able to take loads that day, because he needed to rebuild an injector pump. So he sent him to wait in the outside office, and called Kempster spares, and asked if they had the kit, and the whole pump, then told them to invoice one of each to his business account, and he would send this guy to collect them. That truck took a load 3 hours later on, with a spare pump available for his other 2 Volvo trucks, and the owner was very grateful. We went to his funeral a few years ago, with the sons now owning a very successful trucking company. He worked hard to get there, and while others would sit in line, he would put a loader with a chair as placeholder, and go fill, wash and service the truck there in the yard, and if the lead rig was not moving when called for, he would take their load. The others soon learned to not slip off for a quick lunch when at the front. Still around, and does transport, repairs and COR as well, started from a single driver who was always willing to get an extra load legally, and who drove very carefully as well, as that was originally not his truck, till it was his.

I would argue with you about reliability, since their engines are very heat-loaded. It is necessary to carefully ensure that the engine cooling system works properly, otherwise there is a risk of getting into engine repairs. But the dynamic characteristics of the engine are impressive, it's true. I'm talking about the B4164T3 engine from this video.

In the tank, there is no need to be replaced when servicing, only when the fuel pump needs replacing eventually. Not suprising, Ford engineers did do a lot of work at Volvo in designing vehicles, so the similarities are there. There are a lot of parts that have the same basic design, just tweaked for each application.

Yes a few Volvos were built on Ford subframes, as Ford did own Volvo at some point in time not surprising they used Ford power plants too
