It's ok. EVM had a video making reference to a new video driving around Scotland in their Volvo, so I saw this assumed it was from there, and havent spent any time whatsoever looking on their channel for this video.
I watched this video when it was first out and thought ‘that would be a great family car’. Loved the lines and the smart interior. Now sometime later, I’ve just put a deposit down on a new one! Really looking forward to it.
love this wagon. I'm from the US but have always liked Volvo's iteration of a luxury offroading car. It's really graceful looking and it just seems like a very cultured car for someone to drive. It's not shouty or garish as some of the other manufacturers too. (cough cough BMW and Lexus cough cough) It's practical, well mannered on the road, fitted with wonderful materials, and the tech is good too. It's my realistic dream car. I drive an Outback so I already appreciate what wagons have to offer. This is just a better Outback, which is already a nice car
2024.... And I'm watching this, telling myself, "This is the car I wanted to drive." Thanks for taking us on a trip with the V90 CC. I may get a newer model, but I just wanted to share that most people are looking for this kind of review. In a world where reviews are plainly laid out with specs and performance, you brought a review of how it feels like to drive it- unique and refreshing to watch.
Pilot assist is brilliant, climate can be changed by voice control as can many features. Adaptive headlights are absolutely brilliant. I have the S60 T5 which faultless.
The Volvo is lavish and lovely, for sure. And Scotland, naturally, is breathtaking. I'm seven generations down from the Scot who first brought our family name to the USA, so any glimpse of the Auld Sod is always enjoyed.
Very nice review Matt! Hope you and your family had a nice vacation in Schotland. Beautiful interior, exterior needs a nicer colour in my opinion. Neighbours of mine had a XC 70 with the Volvo Ocean Race package in a beautiful blue colour. Would suit this car also!
Great car, wonderful interior, unbelievable engine, beautiful scenery, Glengoyne, gas stove action and midges. Fabulous travel log including Maid of the Loch and stunning Loch Lomond. " Waiter, I do hope you remembered the grass in my scrambled eggs !"
Lots of things strike about this video Matt. Firstly, nice to see your family on one of your videos. Secondly, I couldn't handle your seemingly active lifestyle. Thirdly, what a great bit of kit that Volvo is!, And I can't generally stand modern vehicles either. But that is a nicely thought vehicle. Kudos to the Swedes. They have a world beater here. Great video Matt.. 😉
Brilliant video with an awesome car. I love the Volvo V90 shape, the ultimate safe cruising/roadtrip car. You definitely packed it like it should be for any holiday roadtrip! We grew up in the back of numerous Saab 900s in the late 80s/90s and loved it (triplets, we always had our day to sit in the front!), absolutely great memories looking back and like you say, they become part of the holiday and more so, part of the family! I went onto buy a 900 Turbo a few years back just because of my childhood and 'dad's car' as Top Gear proved 👌 This Volvo is a whole different world now, but would have one in a heartbeat. Looks like you had a great holiday in our beautiful part of the world, you even got some 🌞🏴🤓 We were always the same coming back home crossing the border, counting down and cheering 🏴🤣 Great family holidays. Brilliant channel and very interesting with your Fleet, throughly enjoyable 👍👌🤓
We've just had the driest and warmest summer on record in the Loch Lomond area which is why the waterfall is dried up. You must have arrived for one of the very few bad days.
I do like these, and one day, who knows? Maybe a like XC90 would have been a better choice for the trip, but I know Matt does not prefer SUV's. I am delighted with my phase 2 version. Disappointing economy with this V90 though, as said. My former, dependable V70 D5, now in my step-daughter's hands, would have returned 60 mpg - as I demonstrated with a West Somerset - Lancashire - West Somerset trip three years ago now.
Visited these places myself, don't normally like whisky, but it is a beautiful flavour, unlike commercial brands. First time I've seen Mrs Furious, did well for yourself Mat.😉
I mentioned in the previous upload I hired one of these last time I was in the UK - from Glasgow Airport. Very, very nice and damn quick. I hammered the arse out of it on the M8 to Edinburgh one Sunday - benefits of an Ozzie licence 😁 I know that campsite at the end of the road it's an absolutely beautiful spot. Glengoyne Distillery is a lovely place, went there many times in the 80s, and often missed by tourists as it's on the wrong side of the Loch
Glen Goyne is definitely off the beaten track! Weirdly we found the beach at this campsite was really windy and lots of waves, you could almost surf it! But half a mile down the shore it was always mill pond smooth. Now where do you get an Ozzie licence from?
@@furiousdriving I was booked on a red light camera in a hire car in the UK. The hire car co. gave them my ‘Ozzie’ address and a summons duly arrived. I ignored it…….still waiting to be arrested.
Matt will be proud of me two weeks today my Ford Kuga auto SUV is going to be replaced with a Kia estate. Although they prefer you to call it a Shooting Break with a manual box.
I like the road trip idea . Why not have a holiday in North Yorkshire . Do the Dales, Moors and don’t forget the Wolds! The latter is a hidden gem of superb driving roads with lovely villages and pubs . But keep that a secret !
Current Volvo’s are desirable and the interior design is especially attractive but would I personally buy one? Highly unlikely. I know you hold distain for SUV’s Matt but I challenge you to test drive my Lexus RX450h by comparison. The Volvo you had is in a similar price range but I couldn’t live with that awful Diesel drone, it sounds like a commercial van IMHO. The Lexus would have swallowed your luggage with room to spare, provided equal fuel economy in near silent ambience with all the comfort, refinement, luxury and equipment you could ever wish for. It’s the perfect package for me. Not all SUV’s are the same.
Hopefully my next used car purchase. I have had my 2008 S60 since 2013 and it is without doubt the best car I have ever had and the only car I have kept for more than my usual 3 years. Apart from the dreaded DPF I haven't really had too many problems with it and spent three months last year travelling from N. Ireland to Aberdeen and then down to Somerset with many side trips in between while averaging 45 mpg on the motorways. Suspension is a little hard on the 17 inch alloys but other than that it is a long distance effortless cruiser. Any problems with the DPF on your trip? Did it ever flash up a warning about being full? That is the only thing that worries me about buying a modern diesel, the emissions equipment.
The paddleboards would also be very convenient for getting over to Inchmurrin, the Loch Lomond island that is clothing optional... I think I'm relieved that you didn't film that part.
Hello from 2023! I've been suggested this video as I've been looking for V90 content. The interior is lovely but if i makw the leapni must go petrol, you can hear too much CI engine noise when you leave the first services. The CC would have been epic with the T8 powerplant. Did you rent this to try it out?
Did my driver’s test here in Sweden in a 2019 V60 manual - was fantastic to drive even with the inspector sitting beside me! Much nicer than the i20 I’d been learning in. Shame that they’re almost impossible to find as manuals (and I think discontinued now).
No wonder. It wouldn’t cross anyone’s mind to buy this kind of car in manual. Even if you like manuals, having a clutch pedal in your car means you lose a huge part of the active cruise control.
@@christianronn5301 Not so much of a problem in Sweden, as we very rarely have traffic jams (big country small population..), so I don’t imagine you’d need cruise control in anything but sixth gear
Not everyone has an estate in Scotland. So there's you, the Queen, maybe a few others. . . Nice video, the weather was a bit intense. Or was that just the sleeping arrangements?
If you ever go on holiday to the USA you can hire an RV (Recreation Vehicle) and go to all sorts of amazing places where your vehicle doubles up as a home.
Ive road tripped in the US a few times but used motels, I like the idea of an RV for here as well but always wonder if you are tied to your parking place, you cant set up camp and then go to the local town so to speak?
Interested in your opinion of the Volvo V90, as I considered it as a possible replacement for my BMW X5. All the reviews I read stated that handling of the V90 is inferior to the X5. The interior of the Volvo looks superior to the X5 though. Very smart exterior styling as well.
Id be surprised if it does handle worse than an X5, Ive not driven the current one but a traffic cop described it as like 'a cross channel ferry taking on water', and the V90 is far better than that!
That sort of journey is the ONLY time those huge estate cars are really doing their job properly; long distance load carrying as an alternative to train or plane. The four wheel drive is an utter waste of money unless you're crossing somewhere like the Australian outback or Asian steppe. There are loads of high quality examples of these magnificent vehicles available secondhand for excellent prices.
I actually prefer old style camp beds but was convinced to try the self inflating ones. Much better than a regular inflatable mattress but huge in the car and not significantly better than a camp bed
I don't own a car so the amount of technological devices in modern cars is just daunting to me. It's a lovely car but so much to go wrong in it. It's just my old-fashioned view.
Nice review, something a bit different. Did you hire it it, or did Volvo lend it to you? Agree with you about heater controls on a screen menu. Very annoying. Worst I've seen are in Citroëns.
That car looks every bit the £50k car inside and out, until the engine fires. A real shame that Volvo don't offer the range of modular engines they used to, but as everything is going that way, this is a very fine car otherwise. The V90 is a bit too big for me I think, but the V60 XC is exactly right and I'd seriously consider one if I had a family on the way (and the funds available).
I enjoyed this video thanks Matt. Have you purchased this car or was it a loaner from Volvo? I’ve been tempted to buy a V60 estate I think the V90 would be too big for my needs.
@@furiousdriving have you ever looked into leasing? That’s what I’m considering. I really enjoyed the video btw hopefully you can make more content like this.
While a V90CC is still an estate car, its predecessor XC70 is shorter but has more luggage space, especially with the seats folded down. Volvo has gone down the route of lifestyle wagons, to my great disappointment. Also the V90 diesel engine is best avoided, because of oil consumption issues.
Yeah, the sharp rake of the tailgate kills the available space, particularly for two German Shepherds. I think Volvo could have squared it off more. I also wish they'd followed BMW and have the rear window open independently of the tailgate.
I been driving Volvo's for 35 years and to be honest the service from Volvo is not what it should be. You should test cars in Belgium, the roads are terrible.
Roof box????? As you look crammed in with no rear view mirror so safety is compromised. Roof box limits you to 80mph which is plenty fast enough on 10hour drives
Being on whats my considered being on the driver's side as the passenger side....that would thorw me the fuck off. Yes Am American. Yet, i love wagons... wagons are love, wagons are life....
And they're deprecating like rock falling off a cliff. While out of production for 5 years now, the V70/XC70 are in such great demand that their value is actually rising, especially those with five cilinder engine. I am expecting Volvo to shift to Chinese electric SUVs in 5-10 years, which you cannot buy, only subscribe to.
An excellent car and good value for money by today's standards. Typical Volvo, leave the song 'n dance routine to others and get on with being an understated quality car that can cope with just about anything. What a tragedy it will be if cars like this disappear under a tsunami of SUVs.
This is the worst car purchase in my almost 60 years of life. Volvo could car less. electrical/computer system a joke. cant lock the car sometimes. I bought it a year ago for $78,000+ . Flee, I implore you, while you can
