It is a great car, nice choice 👌I've since discovered that if you hold your finger on the cruise control button it will in fact go up in 1mph increments. Shhh, don't tell anyone it took me a year to figure this out 🤣🤣
I have a T5, and on my work commute which is mainly up and down elevation freeway driving, I can average 38mpg without too much difficulty on winter mix fuel. The best I have ever done was 40mpg average in heavy afternoon traffic on summer fuel. Eco mode seems to tone down the turbo charger, so you have a fairly small AWD running what feels like maybe a 180hp 2.0L engine. It's absolutely fine. I'm running a rear silver Prancing Moose add-on though, so your results may vary. Take it off Eco, and it is very quick. It isn't quite as fast as a WRX, but you are getting 50% better fuel economy, way better insurance prices, hugely lower NVH, and your engine won't detonate two years into ownership. And you can get a bale of hay in the back.
Nice review, i recognised some of them roads 😊 i am going to test drive an xc40 pluss dark, in AYR next week, cant wait, last volvo i had was a 740 Glt 😱
I do agree with you on the review, as I own 2020 model, T5 with Polestar update. The update improve drive modes greatly. There are two things I would change if could go back and order again - T4 engine will be sufficient and add matrix/bendy headlight package. For the size, its very practical and absolutely love it's ground clearance, which is more than the majority of competitors. Also, T3 in this video is ~160hp.
It’s the sheer quality of the car that always impresses me. Lucky to have driven a number of vehicles over the years and every time I get into an xc40 it’s just head and shoulders above. Very impressive by Volvo 👍
2013 V40 T4 near 100km. Wish I had XC for beach n gravel roads. Loaner X40 for a week , was a nice but Volvo maintenance with heavy electronics and B4/B5 a hesitation. Buying used.
I’m taking a Volvo XC40 T4 Inscription Pro Automatic in this exact colour for a test drive tomorrow just interested in your thoughts regarding the auto shift change and how you found it to use beautiful looking car and can’t wait to test drive it 👍
The car drives best in Comfort, the autobox shifts seamlessly and keeps the engine quiet and car balanced. Dynamic mode just seems to get bouncier and noisy plus the gearbox holds the revs far too long. Once I found how to shift manually Dynamic mode began to make a bit more sense but shifting via the lever doesn't feel as natural as using paddles. I wonder if the car has drive modes just because all the competition does??!! Comfort suits it perfectly; great response, quiet, smooth, comfortable, just fantastic really, you'll love it 👌The quality is what always impresses me most, fair play Volvo 👍
Great review it's a car that's been on my shortlist along with the mazda cx5 , being a tall driver comfort is crucial on long journeys my 3 series bmw isn't , just wondering how the xc40 feels comfort wise on longer journeys
Thanks Paul 👍Mrs Mid Life Motors had a 2017 CX5, lovely car, no issues in our time but understand others have had issues with the diesel engined cars. Bigger car than the Volvo and I like its styling. There is just something about the XC40 though. Hard to explain, but once you try one you'll realise, if that makes sense 🤔 Nice problem to have 😀
Different types of cars but the XC40 takes some beating in its class. I’ve not driven a better medium sized suv. Always enjoy driving that particular car 👍
