I really appreciate how you showed how each piece clips in. That will help me avoid breaking clips as I remove the panels on my Volvo to install that rear camera. Thank you!
I just recently bought a front and rear FitcamX for my 2023 XC40 Recharge. This is THE BEST "how to" install video on the internet. Thank you so much for making this video and greetings from Australia!
@noelf3127 I just bought one for the same model (XC40 recharge) Do you know if this voids warranty in Aus? Also did you have any issues since installing?
@@cc6zt It doesn't void the vehicle warranty at all. The only issue I had is in the video, you see the bit of plastic that they remove at the 7:41 mark, for me that was a bit of a mission to get out, and it was a NIGHTMARE to get back in. The way it shoehorn's in under the seat makes it nearly impossible to push back in. I was pushing very hard to get it back in place and I couldn't do it. I didn't want to break the plastic or snap any of the clips. After 4hrs I was so frustrated with it I used all my force to push it back under the seat and it finally went in. So turns out I wasn't pushing anywhere near hard enough. My advice is...if you can leave it in place and use a pull through wire or "fishing line" or something like that to pull the cable through it. Really don't try to remove it unless you have absolutely no choice. The rest of the install was as fairly painless as you see in the video.
@@noelf3127 That gives me a bit more peace of mind. Thanks for clarifying! I was a little stressed about that. Appreciate the advice, hopefully it isn't too bad an install for me!
@noelf3127 Hey! I have recently purchased a Volvo XC40 Recharge and was wondering how would the dash cam work when the car is parked and ye battery is off? Did you buy some power solution for this? Thanks!
Great tutorial video. It helped a lot with installation. Anyway I will list two things i noticed with mine. can you share your thoughts as well. 1st: dash cam won’t turn off when you shut off engine and just leave the car parked and unlocked. Fitcam support says it will just turn off after 15mins. I find that too long. And it might drain the car battery. It will turn off when you lock the car after 1min. 2nd: dash cam heats up when its turned on. You can feel its warm when you touch it. Too hot for normal usage i think.
It can be more challenging to run the wire through the roof. Besides that when you run the wire along the existing wire harness you completely avoid air bags.
Why did you route the rear camera down across the doors instead of along the roof line? Seems you made this install harder than necessary. Just go along the roof line under the headboard.
Nicely done! I have recently installed the same product on my S90 (2020 model). I am unable to put back the small plastic cover (min 20:56) above the mirror ☹ seems no longer fits; I’ll retry. After some 10-20 miles driving to test the setup, I pulled the card out and realized was considerably/very hot. It’s the same for you; not sure if I should be worried for any fire or other issues?! 🤔🤔
Yes, they do. DashCam Power Adapter, (3P TypeE) Compatible with Volvo and Polestar Models with Auto-Dimming Rearview Mirror, Built-in Hide USB to GPS Radar Mirror Dash Cam Charger Adapter Cable, Plug & Play - amzn.to/3SMKjNV.
Hi! Yes, it does. It has the G-sensor triggered parking mode. If the vehicle is being hit while it is parked, the dashcam will record one minute file. You do need to have the hardwiring cable being connected to the fuse box for this to happen: FITCAMX Fuse Box Cable Hardwire Kit, 4 in 1 ATO (Regular), Mini, Micro, Low-Profile Mini, 2Pcs Each - amzn.to/48utY5J. Unfortunately, we don't have the fuse box video at the moment.
