I ordered one of these to replace my cupra born. Cant wait to be honest. Oddly ordered this ultimate spec and twin motor version. Im in the uk so dont drive at 80mph :-) I would be very interested in a range test at 60mph

Thank you. Yeah it's a massive upgrade in terms of quality etc. I know it's a brick but I want that true suv look, the higher ride.

Hey, compared to your previous 130km/h test (the one in similar temperature) with the XC40 in "old" engines, and considering the difference in average speed, this seems like a good consumption improvement, doesn`t it?

I wonder what the suspension was like on uneven roads and bends.

When you are doing your commercial, can you wink to us?😝 I quite like this vehicle but wish it was a little bigger cough cough EX60... Also it's really expensive here in Canada. This would be 75k CAD. The top ID4 AWD is 64k. Model Y AWD 61k CAD
@davidcottrell570
@davidcottrell570 7 месяцев назад
EX60 maybe 2025? Ultimate trim could be nudging $100K Cdn if you look at the ICE versions. XC40 is a pretty good deal, even compared to the EX30, plus you can get one now.

@@davidcottrell570 75k for an XC40 Recharge is a good deal? I think it’s one of the most overpriced EVs on the market.
@davidcottrell570
@davidcottrell570 7 месяцев назад
@@kevinn1158 The base price is $64K Cdn and the EX30 tops out at $62,100. There’s a Twin Ultimate for sale at $70,500 plus licensing and taxes on their site. I think you will find that the competition isn’t as good as it seems. I ordered an ID.4. Nice car but I’m glad I got the Volvo for various reasons. All new cars are expensive. At least Volvo has a fixed price policy here without ‘market adjustments’, but by all means, buy another brand. I’m happy with mine, FWIW.

I'm not a fan of steering assist ... but it stops warning if you give the wheel a little turn or I found squeezing the thicker part above the yoke regularly. I have had it disconnect twice when cruising on the motorway, which was not good. Overall I prefer to do the steering myself .. it is smoother and I am not constantly "on edge". Otherwise, love my XC40
@thomastcrapper4100

The system seemed to blip you constantly while you were holding the camera and looking away from the road. Could there be the reason. Perhaps sudden micro movements. Is there a detection for head position or something? Later on when there were no blips were you steering yourself or was the car doing it for you?

Servus Chris 🙂 I own a C40 Twin 2023, the steering wheel is not capacitive. You have to put a bit of force into it to indicate that you are still at the wheel. And yes, it's really annoying 😐

Not much better than my 2022 XC40 Recharge. Still, I like to stop on a road trip every 2 to 3 hours anyway.

Its a thirsty beast and partially due to it's weight, 2140kg. The overall range with this battery is quite poor.
@davidcottrell570
@davidcottrell570 7 месяцев назад
It’s the drag coefficient mainly, but unless you’re dealing with this sort of driving daily, it doesn’t factor much and it’s relative. Even slippery, relatively light Teslas can’t break the laws of physics, and driving at speed in the winter will do that. And regardless of charging at home or on the road, it’s still cheaper overall most places once service costs are taken into account than ICE.

Most people in the UK drive less than 100 miles per week. Even getting to 20,000 miles per year, you have to be in the top 3% of driver distances, and that includes people driving for work. All EVs are heavy, but this is not the slippery kind of low profile sedan, it's a practical size, shape and height for most people's lives. The range is fine.

Wow ,you got a range efficiency of 29km ,I taught i was doing poorly at 24 km in mainly City driving cool conditions yet its advertised with an efficiency of 16.9 and range of 570km .when does exaggeration become a lie .really regret buying this car,,i paid 59,000 euro for core trim level stripped of any luxury features ,.the parameters have changed with electric performance if this was petrol performance equivalent its a lada .like result .long journeys using public chargers will cost more than petrol where I'm from cause it's about 60 cents a kw to charge .

ACC is awful in this car. it brakes way too harshly and often too much. I feared getting rear ended in this car
@davidcottrell570
@davidcottrell570 7 месяцев назад
Really? Can’t say that’s ever been the case for me. Yes, the car can regen hard, but the maximum is .3G and it’s progressive as well as predictable. I’ve tried a few other brands - for me the ACC works adequately, but it isn’t designed as a hands-off system. And if I’m driving in heavy traffic, I want to be in control.

150miles range, that's terrible. Who's going to buy it, it's not even cheap but old tech.

That infotainment system looks horrible and at least ten years old. Volvo should be ashamed for even selling this car in 2024 with that crap.
@SeeliLeck3r
@SeeliLeck3r 7 месяцев назад
Agreed. I have a C40 2023 and the infotainment looks outdated. In between the size of the screen, too small and the huge bezels, yeah, could be way better. Hope Volvo will improve it with a new iteration. The only good point is the OS made by google: it's fast, reliable and usable. Even the driver cluster is horrible because you have only two choices for the screen's layout : the map, which is quite ok, or ... a blank screen.. I mean, come on Volvo, pimp your dashboard a bit.

Not everyone enjoys the sterile wasteland of a Tesla or the glare from overtly large screens…
@SeeliLeck3r
@SeeliLeck3r 7 месяцев назад
@@danishred72 there’s a huge gap in between Tesla’s layout and Volvo infotainment. Something in between is possible. I love my C40, it’s a tremendous drive, but the infotainment is crap and unless you have one and used it for hours, I guess you can’t grasp how much it can be improved 🙂
@mabr6444
@mabr6444 7 месяцев назад
@@danishred72 Well, you could have something in between like in the Polestar 2. The screen in the Volvo is low resolution and the UX design look really old. Volvo also tries to cram too much information in on that screen (same problem with Tesla) which makes it a hassle to use when you're driving.
@davidcottrell570
@davidcottrell570 7 месяцев назад
Just one thing. It’s an information screen, not a video game, so it isn’t meant to distract you from driving. In many countries now, using with the touch screen while moving is actually illegal. It does its job and doesn’t result in a problem with cup holders, as it does in the Polestar 2. Google maps works well. Resolution isn’t an issue if you own one. The Polestar 3, 4, EX30, 90 and EX60 will no doubt be better, as will an EX40 in two or three years time. The XC40 was always meant to be an evolution from ICE and as a Recharge EV, has been out for four years come May. I’m happy with it.
