No one has a safety facility like Volvo. Volvo can do safety testing that NCAP, IIHS , and NHTSA can't do, like doing crash tests with both cars moving at any angle. The NHTSA, IIHS, and NCAP have some very simplistic crash tests, that car companies build their cars to pass. Volvo duplicates actual real world accidents. They have a database of over 10,000 accidents that they've duplicated. Does any car company know what would happen to their car in a side impact, say, at 33 degrees with both cars moving? They don't know, and neither does the IIHS, NHTSA, or NCAP. Volvo knows! And the XC90 has built a g-absorbing feature into it's seats to reduce the impact on your spinal column in a run-off-road accident. If your car runs off road it's not uncommon to get a 10-G force on your back, but XC90 seats reduce that force to 5Gs, significantly reducing the chance of a spinal injury. And 2,500 Americans die in run-off-road accidents every year. No on has done this kind of testing, except for Volvo. The seats in the XC90 took 7 years of research to develop. NCAP testing has the Model S Adult Occupant test with a 82% score. The S90 has a 95% score. NCAP testing has the Model S Safety Assist test with 71% score. The S90 has a 95% score. NCAP testing has the XC90 Adult Occupant test with a 98% score, and a Safety Assist score of 100%!!! The Model X has not been tested by NCAP. The Model X has not been tested by the the IIHS. But the Model S has been sub-par on the 'small overlap' crash test, which is the most demanding crash test of all the crash testing agencies. Not only did the dummy miss the airbag in the Model S, but there was significant intrusion into the foot well. All Volvos have gotten a 'good' score on the 'small overlap' crash test. Volvo's profits have been soaring the last few years. Tesla has yet to make an annual profit. You sure Volvo can't compete? The XC90 has a plug-in hybrid, and Volvo will start making all-EVs in 2019, and the rumor is that there will be an all electric XC90 in 2021. Plenty of time.

The single an main problem is represented by wires. They got broken in time very easily, but as electrician I can repair it by myself.

I think that footage is from a test for the American market. Having the speed in imperial painted on the car might be a requirement. Not sure. Sweden uses metrics anyway.

The squib board, mounted on the car’s roof, contains a number of squibs (pyrotechnical devices) which are connected to various elements inside the car like airbags, seat belts, etc. Each squib is designed to detonate when the corresponding sensor inside the car is triggered during the crash. This allows the engineers to observe when each element inside the car is triggered, in accordance with the visuals recorded by the cameras outside the car. E.g. being able to see when the airbags are activated in accordance with the progression of the crash. The results determine whether adjustments to algorithms and other technical elements are required.

Chinese just added money to Volvo for research. They haven't added any Chinese touches. The XC90 is made in Sweden and the XC60 is made in china though. Couldn't tell by looking at them side by side in person, both exceptional quality.

That was under FORD ownership, all Volvo models suffered quality issues under them, but then so did Aston Martin, Jaguar and Land Rover all had the same problem .. cost cutting.

They are still designed, engineered and for the most part built in Sweden and Belgium. They are owned by Geely Holdings, but are operated independently as they always have...from Sweden.
