Land near urban areas will be more expensive while land farther away from the urban area will be cheaper. This is why in Von Thunenn's Model we see agricultural practices that require more land are farther away from the market, and agricultural practices that require less land can be located closer to the market. This is also why we traditionally have intensive agricultural practice near an urban area and extensive agricultural practices farther away. Question 5: 1) If we look at the spatial layout of the United States today we can see that generally the model still works (If you have New York as the Market) 2) We still see agricultural practices that require more land located farther away from the urban areas 3) We still see agricultural production that is more perishable and more difficult to transport closer to the market

Question, what would be a few flaws about the model?

so forgive me if i get this wrong but. Shouldn't dairy farming be further away and be extensive? Cows need more land to graze and produce milk (especially in the 1800s) so how would dairy farming be so close to the market? also wouldn't dairy farming and ranching/livestock fall under the same category?
