Picked up the 12 x 50 version and it has been very nice for clarity. Purchased at Cabela’s which had a sale on them, then it turned out it was Cabela’s Mondays with extra 10% off and because I used my Cabela’s card I used my points. So timing was right for the purchase and all the discounts. One thing I don’t remember you mentioning was the LIFETIME WARRANTY, no matter how it was damaged, accident or you just blame darn stupid mistake, they will fix it for you. Thus far happy with purchase this past May of 2024. Best to all!!
That is awesome! You definitely hit it at the right time! I still use mine today and absolutely love them! I may have forgotten about the warranty so I appreciate you adding that to the comments! It will definitely come in handy when needed! Thanks so much for the support! Take care!
I picked one of these last week and couldn't be happier. Good and firm build quality. Weight is acceptable for long hikes. Image quality is better than expected. Good clarity, contrast and resolution. You do see moderate levels of CA under certain lighting conditions or on bright white subjects, but that alone just doesn't justify it for me to pick up a premium model coming at 3 times higher price tag.
It might be tough to see. You will increase your ability to see things at distance much better with a tripod. I would say if you are free handing it you probably won’t be able to see the shot placement but it is a possibility with the tripod. Thanks so much for watching!
You should really try the Athlon Cronus UHD G2 10x42 for $400 - $420 depending on where you buy from it's superior to the current Chinese made Vortex Razor HD and since the Viper HD is a lower much cheaper model compared to the Razor HD, I'd only imagine the Cronus would blow it away. The $225 - $250 depending on where you buy from Athlon Midas UHD G2 is better than the Vortex Viper HD as well. I used to be a real Vortex fan until they switched their production from Japan to China and still sell them for the same high prices. At as well buy tip of the line Chinese optics from Athlon instead. Way better quality than Vortex with the least likelihood of actually needing to use Athlon's warranty.
I have never heard of the Athlons before. I will definitely look into those. I appreciate the info and insight. Sounds like the Athlons can be a great alternative. Thanks for watching!
@@TheMidwestOutdoorsman Just a follow up here. I can no longer recommend the Athlon Cronus UHD Gen 2 after buying 2 of them from 2 different sellers they make me feel really dizzy and nauseated looking through them likely due to their field flatteners. Both of them are like this and I just bought a third one to see of the first two are defective and awaiting delivery. My Athlon Cronus UHD 10x50 Rangefinder Binoculars don't make me feel sick looking through them though rather strange while being in the same high end Athlon CRONUS line. I also tried out the ScoopX UHD 10x42 which can be bought for as cheap as $55 - $65 on eBay and they're much better than the Athlon Midas ED UHD optically and don't make me feel sick like looking through the CRONUS UHD Gen 2 e even though the ScoopX UHDs also have field flatteners. I think they are made at the same Chinese factory and improved on the CRONUS UHD Gen 2 and made them lighter and way more affordable as well. They also typically sell for $249 on Amazon and cheapest I've seen currently selling for under $150 buy eBay has them for $55 - $65. They're a step up in quality compared to the Athlon Midas UHD Gen 2s and Cronus UHD Gen 2s and Vortex Viper HDs and the Chinese Nikon Monarchs. Really very much worth giving them a try if you like high end type of optics for really cheap.
