My goodness I want this scope! The only Vortex I have atm is a Viper PST 2.5-10x44 and it is such a joy to shoot through! I've looked through a ton of different optics and have to say, Vortex is certainly my favorite. Awesome company all around.
@@VortexOpticsUSA this is the one I wanted for my Bargara bmp 308 but my wife bought the gen I 50mm. She had it mounted already so I'm stuck now. It's also a great scope but just not the one I wanted. Great video!
Ok, I give in. Just ordered myself one. You guys really sold me with the warranty. Nice to know if I'm dropping that kind of cash, you guys have my back if anything goes wrong.
All my optics are made by Vortex. All 5 scopes (2 are Razor Gen II, 3 are PST's), binoculars, spotting scope and range finder. I can honestly say I've NEVER had a problem dealing with Vortex, their warranty is the best I've ever seen, bar none! which is why I switched to them. I've own almost every high end scope made and always worried about warranty after 5-10 years down the road. Hunting is hard on gear in the mountains, and when you're spending thousands on optics it's nice for the manufacture to have your back and stand by their product, no questions asked! Disclaimer...NO I'm not affiliated with Vortex in any manner, shape or form...Just a Canadian hunter....
Had my first look at this scope in the shop yesterday - very nice. First impressions - dials are really big and it weighs heaps. Very solid scope. The illumination was awesome and was capable of lighting up in the day so you could see it. The one I looked at was the ebr2c retical and it had the Christmas tree design - good for reference points. The glass was really clear and I'd have no issues with buying/using this scope what so ever. GET IT!!!!
behold.....the most awesome precision rifle optic available. already sold my "other brand" and preordered one of these masterpieces. Scott P. yall hit a home run on this one!!!!!! the ebr-2c reticle is PERFECT
Well done Vortex. That is a very sexy scope and a bargain for all the features it includes. I just wish it was available now! Unfortunately, I need a scope right now and cant wait until this summer :(
Thank you for the feedback- maybe check out our Razor HD 5-20x50 that is already out on the market. It is also a great scope and should be readily accessible most of the time. Thanks again. - Jimmy, jjordan@vortexoptics.com
I have talked Taylor at vortex about this scope to go on my 338 lapua.. Was very helpful. I would recommend vortex to anyone on the market for a nice scope with a great warranty and great customer service. I just installed a diamondback on my 22-250 one of the best moves I have ever made. Highly recommend.
will be my next scope when i utilize all viper pst gen2 abilities. Had issue with it, but that`s my fault.(broke ring inside back lens on PRS match and my zero shift while i adjust eye relief) Hope wip warranty help me. As i see you care your customers all around the world.
Recently purchased the 4.5-27x56 Razor and love it. Have never seen a better built scope anywhere and would rather have it than other scopes costing far more. Heck, I like my Razor better than the rifle it's mounted on. :-) If I ever sell the rifle, the Razor won't be going with it !
I am in the process of building a new rifle and think it would be neat to Cerakote-match this new scope. Can you share the Cerakote formula for either an exact color match or a color that's only slightly lighter than the scope?
Harley G The person to get in contact with to get this matched is Ricco Tumminello at Black Dove Customs. He does a really good job matching the Cerakote to the Razor HD Stealth Shadow color. There is no exact match for this shade because the anodizing on each one is slightly different so it needs to be custom. Thank you and please email me if you have further questions. - Jimmy, jjordan@vortexoptics.com
@vortexoptics After encountering the Gen II Razors at a long range match and comparing head to head I swapped out all of my US Optics scopes for Vortex Razor HD Gen II's. This meant buying nearly $5000 in new scopes, not a small thing. It took years to save up for my USO's. I replaced an SN-3 3.8-22x44 35mm tube with the 3-18x50 and replaced my ER-25 5-25x58 with the 4.5-27x56. Weight distribution is much better, centered nicely over the action now. Optical quality is/was tier 1, but now there's no vignetting or tunneling. Turret design and features are way above USO's and tracking has been spot on. I only gained good stuff in my conversion to Razors from USO's. What I want from Vortex now is: a replacement for my ST-10 10x37mm. Something compact, fixed 10x, meant for very rough use... I would also like a 12-36x44 AO with fine crosshair and 1/8MOA target dot in as light a package as possible for use in high power and rimfire metallic silhouette competition.
Hey that's great feedback, thank you so much for the good word and for giving our glass a shot! We really appreciate it. Good input on the other models as well. Just curious - have you checked out our new Golden Eagle Riflescope? It's not exactly like the 12-36x44 AO that you mentioned, but it's a 15-60x52 with adjustable parallax down to 15 yards and has an ultra-fine reticle. Hope this helps! - Jimmy H jchamilton@vortexoptics.com
Did not know about the Eagles. That's a really close requirements fit. Weight will be an issue (gotta find 13.7 ounces to cut off the rifle) but not one that can't be gotten past. My wallet hates you. My scores don't though. Thanks lads!
Time for Vortex to step up the game and build a 3-20X HD; lighter weight same ruggedness military oriented scope with several ranging marks (MRS)reticle type. This is by far the no. 1 reigning among competitors at PRS matches, however not every one needs 25X or almost 3lbs while hunting or doing sniper/military drills.
Glass quality is improved slightly and a little better coatings. Across the charts, this should be a step up. Thanks again and please let me know if you have any other questions. I would be happy to help. - Jimmy, jjordan@vortexoptics.com
Good morning, Ted. The Razor Gen IIs are definitely in that ball park. I would not say they are better than some of the ones you mentioned but in my opinion, they are a pretty close comparison. Thanks again and please let me know if you have further questions. I would be happy to help. - Jimmy, jjordan@vortexoptics.com
It's definitely not a scope for the sheep hunting rifle! Thanks for the feedback. Indeed, the lens elements and turrets wound up making the scope extremely durable and a great performer but also heavy. That is the only version of the scope available but thanks for the feedback. It's always good to know what the public has to say. Thanks again. - Jimmy, jjordan@vortexoptics.com
Vortex Optics Thanks for the reply. You guys are way ahead of the competition in terms of usable features and ergonomic designs (simple things like widely spaced, high-contrast turret markings and and pop-out detents go along way). If you can just get the weight in the same category as the other tier 1 manufacturers at 36-38oz you guys will be unstoppable.
I don't know if you guys have or not yet but is there any kind of video that shows the durability of this scope? A torture test video is mainly what I mean, how much abuse can it take before it fails. Would definitely be nice to see something similar to what night force does with their scopes. Also is the Razor HD gen 2 individually inspected by a person?
+NWZRX - I think there are a lot of folks that have done torture tests, but we feel that letting the optic stand on its own is the best testimony. Each and every Razor scope is hand built, rigorously tested, and hand inspected before shipping out to our customers. -Reuben (raleckson@vortexoptics.com)
Seems like the scope is sold out everywhere (2C reticle), any idea when dealers will have this scope in stock? Also, what color is that barrel? Cerekote?
Some dealers may have some in stock, so please check around. You may get lucky and find a dealer that's sitting on one. My suggested course of action is to get a backorder placed to get in line for one and then keep hunting around in case you find one faster. The color on the barrel is Gun Kote Desert Tan. Feel free to email me with further questions. - Jimmy, jjordan@vortexoptic.com
nice scope I like how they copied weaver tactical pull up turrets and the turret indicator is cool.... how well does it track? can you abuse it and use it? that scope needs to be on a 1,000 to 2,000 yard gun for sure.... its kinda funny seeing it st on that small actioned bb gun:)
Thanks for the compliments, Shannon. It tracks spot on and will be a very rugged, durable scope. It definitely would be right at home in long-range shooting applications. The rifle it is mounted on top of is a 6.5 Creedmor, which is capable easily out to 1,200 yards plus. Definitely would be a good fit on top of the .338 Lapua or .50 BMG too though. Thanks for the questions and please let us know if there's anything else I can do for you. I would be happy to help. - Jimmy, jjordan@vortexoptics.com
So this has better optical quality then my razor i already own?! i dont think that is possible but i guess im going to have to get one to compare !!!!!!!!!!
Yes, the Gen IIs have improved optical quality. Thanks for the question and pleas let me know if you have any other questions. - Jimmy, jjordan@vortexoptics.com
It was a while ago when we did this video so I'm having a tough time remembering for sure but I'm about 90% sure they were the 1.00" height. Very tight clearance, though. If you are wanting to go with flip caps on an identical setup, you may want to go with the high mounts. - Jimmy, jjordan@vortexoptics.com
+BUbackzSrt4 If we are talking about the 4.5-27x56 and the rifle has a stock that looks like the one in the video (top of barrel fully exposed), I would go with the 1.1" Precision Matched Rings just to make sure the objective doesn't contact the barrel and so that there is enough room for flip caps. If you have a chassis (top of barrel covered by handguard), like the XLR Evolution or the Ruger Precision Rifle, you will want to go with a set of 1.45" height rings. Thanks and feel free to email me if you have further questions. I would be happy to help. - Jimmy, jjordan@vortexoptics.com
The Gen II is the better option for PRS. The AMG is a do-it-all kind of riflescope that can be used for hunting or regular target shooting as well. The Gen II Razor is basically intended for PRS, tactical and competition long range shooting only.
Vortex...I f@#$ing love you guys! Best customer service ever. I preach vortex to everyone. Thanks for being the easy choice for quality, customer service, a company that stands by their product, cares for their customers, and a warranty that gives peace of mind. Cheers from La Verne, Ca.
The Viper or the Razor? Both are great scopes, but if you're referring to the Razor in the video, this is our top of the line scope so you will notice quite a different (Positively) compared to your Viper with this optic. Absolutely capable of 750 and well beyond. Hope this helps!
Tyler- not all of them. We are planning to send them out with a sunshade, battery, and cloth. I do not know if any other accessories will come standard at this time or not. Thanks for the question and please let me know if you have any others. - Jimmy, jjordan@vortexoptics.com
All of our products are researched, developed, engineered, and serviced here in Middleton, WI. The country of origin for the manufacturing of our products depends on the product, but this particular scope is manufactured in Japan. The glass country of origin is considered proprietary information though, so I cannot disclose that part. Thanks for the question and feel free to email me if you have others. I would be happy to help. - Jimmy, jjordan@vortexoptics.com
Finally starting to feel like it weather-wise in WI... All jokes aside though, we are hoping to have these starting to ship out sometime in summer but we are not sure exactly when this will be. Thanks for being patient with us though, guys. - Jimmy, jjordan@vortexoptics.com
Haha yeah it's definitely designed more for the precision rifle instead of the sheep-hunting rifle. I'll let you know if we need any testers, Kevin :-) Thanks for giving us a look - Jimmy, jjordan@vortexoptics.com
+Blake Bergener Absolutely - the Gen IIs have been a really solid performer, especially on long range rigs like a Trg 42! -Reuben (raleckson@vortexoptics.com)
+Blake Bergener +Vortex Optics So I was always told to keep scope as close to barrel as possible, but I realize that shooting a Sako TRG 42 Lapua 1,500 + yrds to 1 mile roughly may have a lot of angle putting barrel in scope. What should be "base elevation" be? 34 mm for Razor Gen ll 4.5-27x85? High elevation? What mount do you recommend for that? My optics are Mrad, but all the mounts I find say "MOA".
Currently, there are no plans that I'm aware of to make the scope in black. Thank you and please feel free to email me if you have further questions. I would be happy to help. - Jimmy, jjordan@vortexoptics.com
Thanks for the question- sometime in summer when these scopes start shipping out. Thanks and please let me know if there are further questions. - Jimmy, jjordan@vortexoptics.com
It's a custom built 6.5 Creedmoor. The build includes: - Surgeon 591 action- Shilen barrel - McMillan A5 adjustable stock - Gen II Razor on top w/ precision matched rings
Waited 5 months to get mine, FedEx left it at my door according to the tracking number. I get home and nada. Nothing. I think it got stolen. I am so angry they would leave a scope I waited 5 months for at my door. A scope costing over 2k! What the heck FedEx!? Now I don't know what to do, I emailed my Vortex rep. Lets hope for the best and pray it was just delayed. Waited so LONG already!!!
+Robnting Tie I'm so sorry to hear that happened.... What an awful feeling... I'm hoping it all works out, too. Keep in touch with your rep and keep him/her posted on how it is going. Good luck! - Jimmy, jjordan@vortexoptics.com
+Robnting Tie Wow that is crazy! That sucks big time! Sorry man. Does the shipping insurance cover that from FedEx? I'm getting my 3-18 gen2 in two days according to the tracking information and i will be home all day with my Binos locking for the Post man ;-)
No, the 3-18X and 4.5-27X are offered in first focal plane only. Thanks for the question and please let me know if you have any others. - Jimmy, jjordan@vortexoptics.com
Depends on which one you purchase. The 4.5-27x56 should go for right around $2499.99 and the 3-18x50 should go for about $2199.99. Thank you for the question and please let me know if you have further questions. I would be happy to help. - Jimmy, jjordan@vortexoptics.com
Noted - we'll pass that along to our product development team. We know it's a hassle, but if you didn't mind painting or cerakoting your scope, you can do so without voiding the warranty. Just a friendly FYI!
@@VortexOpticsUSA Thanks for the reply and I am sorry to say that I wont spend $2000+ on a very nice scope just to pay even more to change the color when I can get the Mark5 HD for much cheaper (mil discount) and its the color I want. Make it in black and I will buy it tomorrow. I love your Ebr2c reticle over any other yet the champagne color is hideous.
@@dealershiptechtruth - totally understand. Sorry we didn't mention this yesterday, but you can actually buy that exact scope in black at: www.eurooptic.com/RZR-42706-B-Vortex-Razor-HD-Gen-II-45-27x56-Riflescope-with-.aspx
+Garry Hall I'm sorry that you're not a fan of the color. Fortunately, having the scope custom-painted does not void the warranty. If you like the scope, feel free to purchase it and have it painted to match whatever color scheme you're wanting to pair it with. Thanks, Garry, and feel free to drop me an email if you have further questions. I would be happy to help. - Jimmy, jjordan@vortexoptics.com
