No shit, I looked up if you had a video on this piece of glass 12 hours ago, and was sad it didn’t exist. Now, I’ve got no reason to be sad at all. Thank ya so much for your wonderful work!
I bought one of these not too long after it came out. Very feature packed for the price, and the specs all looked good. Mine also came with a plastic sunshade. The flip caps are nice to say they had them, but mine fell off pretty quickly during its first hard use, and I haven't put them back on. Other than that, I'm very pleased with mine!
I paid $250 for this scope, and it is worth every penny. In my opinion, this is the new benchmark for affordable scopes. The Sig Tango is a CLOSE contender because it comes with a mount, but the performance of the Venom is a little bit better all around. Honestly, you should review a few affordable mounts to fill video gaps between scopes. I bet at least 1 Monstrum mount will surprise you (for the price, as always.)
I love Monstrum mounts, I haven't had an issue with them. I think it's dumb to pay a couple hundred dollars for some aluminum and a few set screws, I definitely believe that's an area where a lot of companies are simply price gouging.
@stevem4783 when you are Machining from a 4 lb solid block of aluminum, $250-350 is not gouging. There's a lot of machining time on expensive machines. Much better QC, better socket head cap screws(not cheap soft metal) and yes, they're a tad heavier. They're heavier bc they've got thicker uprights, which are far less likely to shift after a drop. Also, you get amazing return to zero if for some reason you need to take the mount off the upper.
Vortex scopes: we’re cookin Vortex prisms/ red dots: hmm keep at it buddy This was impressive. Probably gonna pick up one of these 1-6 Venoms just as a backup/rotation optic; what the esteemed Nutnfancy calls a ‘cast member’
Could you go into a bit more on how it compares to the Primary Arms SLx 1-6x24 SFP Gen IV? The PA 1-6 is the first ever LPVO scope that i ever used. It is on my general purpose AR. I just got a CVA scout V2 in 300 blk that will be a pest and occasional hunting gun. So i am looking for a good scope for that. I am blown away how nice the PA seems, but it is the only one i have ever used. So i have nothing to compare it to. I also havent been able to take it out as much as i would have liked. Seems like both scopes trade back and forth on paper but it seems like the PA doesn't match up to the paper. like for example it seems to have a higher FOV then listed. Taking off the rear flip cap seems to make a huge difference in how thin the optic appears looking thru it. Don't know if i have seen another review talk about that. I prefer crosshairs in my reticles, but neither has one unfortunately. I am coming around to the chevron and overall the ACSS reticle is amazing. The power ring is a bitch and takes a lot of effort to get it going. Hoping it starts to loosen up some more as i use it.
If I could interject my opinion. I have used and looked through both. You will be happier with the Venom and honestly I do not believe it to be close. There is nothing about the PA Gen 4 better than the Venom. The Nova Gen 4 is daylight bright. If that matters to you then its a plus for the PA. The fit/finish/feel of the Venom is much better. The controls are not even close, and as far as the glass goes..the Gen 4's are the best version of the SLX glass, but still not better than what Vortex did with the Venom. I love more info on a reticle instead of just crosshairs. My opinion. The reticle on the Venom blows away the PA Nova/PST Gen 2 reticle. I said it above - The Venom is punching well above its price point and in my opinion has punched past the PST Gen 2.
This makes me want you to review the Venom 3-15x FFP. I compared it with a PST Gen II and I was blown away with the the Venom. Glass quality doesn’t seem to be a concern anymore on any of these budget optics.
I wish I could say that I enjoy my SLX Nova, but damn the 1x is brutal fish eye and double vision. I think I’ll try the warranty before I finalize my opinion…
@@adamrodgers2377 I like it a lot for the price. It was my entry into 3-15 4-16 with parallax adjustment type optics specifically for gas guns. Prior to this I’ve only used 1-10 max on gas guns and 5-25 on bolt. 15x is about the max I can currently use at my skill level while still staying on target and trying to see trace. There’s no illum but I’m ok with that for what I use this for
@@GuacIsExtra99 Your and my Shooting seems to be very similar. All my Gas Guns had a max of 1x8 and my Bolt Actions we are exactly the same with 5x25 on my 2 Long Range Bolt Guns, my other 2 Bolt Actions actually have LPVO's on them. I believe I will really like this Venom for what I want to use it for. I have plans to buy a second one for a 6ARC I have, the 2.5x10 on it works but it truly needs something larger for when I shoot out to 800 to 1000 yards.
Wow and here I had spent the last 2 days looking for comparisons of the venom vs strike eagle and tango msr. Oddly enough RU-vid gave me a vortex round table where they talked how the entire venom line was the entry line lacking features that the strike eagle has and never mentioned glass. I do see a lot of of chromatic aberrations on the range footage zoomed in on that wall or bridge
Just bought one of these. I've resisted buying Vortex forever, but the sale price was worth taking a flier. I must say I agree, for a budget LPVO, this is better than most if not all at this price. I have two Swampfox Arrowhead LPVO's in 1-8 and 1-10 ... those have great FOV's as well. But I find the overall clarity of the Venom a bit better. The only upside of the Swampfox is the integrated and re-positionable throw lever. I would say by feel, the Swampfox is a little more robust, but it's marginal and subjective. In the end, I like the Venom better.
I JUST got this from Euro Optics based on this review and I’m an Old Ass DAV with failing eyes who can’t use FFP Rifle Scopes anymore and was worried I couldn’t use this Reticle, after focusing I can clearly use and see every dot. It’s a lot of money for me but this is a damn fine Rifle Scope and nestled comfortably in an Aero Precision mount. The only downside is made in the PRC….
Other than illumination the Axeon 1-6x24 is equal and lighter than the Venom at 100 bucks. I have the Citadel 1-10 and it’s insanely clear but the eye box is a bit gnarly. It’s holding perfectly as is the Axeon so that’s a plus. The Venom or Sig will be my next Optic I think after these reviews thank you. The Axeon is the Gem nobody is talking about honestly due to Umarex I think but it’s 1000g rated is what I’ve read. Stay safe my friend S.F. And the Pew Pew’s are a must…
Hello. Which one is better for hog hunting, generally in short distances (30-40 meters) and dense areas? Venom 1-6x24 or Reddot + magnifier. Sometimes I shoot at 80-100 meters. I need a zoomer. What is your advice? Thank you for your answer.
What is crazy I bought this a few months ago on sale for 220 or 240 shipped I haven't even taken it out the box yet but this has me excited to get it out and about
Good, I'm glad Vortex is making their budget LPVOs better and also glad the Viper PST I recently bought isn't immediately obsolete. Also surprised one of the comparison wasn't to the RT-6 which seems pretty similar in configuration and price, but I guess you use the scopes you have on hand.
Would love to see you do a review on any or all of the vector optics continental LPVOs. I've heard good things about their 1-6 and 1-8 but no one does comparisons as well as you.
Not comparing side by side with the nova hurts, but you know what maybe if enough of us bitch we might see it in the budget comparison. xD Thank you once again for the review, and the new scenery is very nice. Great job selecting a new spot to do the reviews! Edit: Can't wait for the PLX-C with the nova reticle review, I know they sent you one :) Double Edit: I bought the SLX nova with the PA "Deluxe" mount for $304 from PA, shipping and taxes included. Will be sighting it in on the 14th of july, so hopefully I can see it's potential besides the larping in my basement.
I bought it about 6 months ago when it very came out. I’m sorry but it was absolutely terrible. The arm throw screw on it snapped in half while screwing it in. Just goes to show the quality and after that I sent it back. The optic quality was so damn warped it was awful. For sure can’t keep both eyes open using it.
In regards to buying it with your own money: Do you even attempt to contact the manufacturer to see if they'd like you to review it on your channel? I would think a lot of them would check out your channel and say 'yeah we'll send you one!"
Just saw some strike eagle 1-8 gen 2a for 249 on sale but debating if I should go with it over the venom 1-6 😂 great video Edit: got a venom 1-6 with a mount for 238 beans and I love it
I posted this somewhere else. I picked up the Venom expecting it to be a quick return. I saw a review and wanted to see it for myself. All I can say is how impressed I am regardless of the price....its impressive. I disagree with C-Does on one thing. I would take this over the PST Gen 2 hands down. Mainly for one reason....the reticle on the PST is horrendous. I hate those simple crosshairs. The glass on the Venom is so good it is hard to not love it. Now I did a side by side with the Venom and my Razor 1-6 (which I am selling). No I am not going to tell you the Venom is better than the Razor. The Razor glass is clearer for sure, but I will say this........its a tick clearer. Its not like there is a huge gap. I am not one of these that needs red dot bright on an LPVO and the crosshairs are the way to get there due to the fiber wire. I didnt notice any distortion at any magnification level and edges were clean. Another thing to consider is the controls on the Venom. They are outstanding and not cheap feeling like theey are on the SE, and the whole PA Gen 4 line. The PA Gen 4's are the cheapest feeling scopes I have seen/felt. The Venom has an off position in between the "on's" on the illumination knob which is a huge plus for me. Bottom line for me. I wouldnt take the Venom over my PLX's, and the glass is not as good as the Razor, but any scope below that in price I would strongly consider the Venom over anything else. Its like Vortex found some voodoo for this scope. The Venom skipped over a few levels in my opinion.
Awesome reviews, with so many videos and products, what brand would you say has the best clarity, quality? I mostly have vortex but am looking at nightforce, maybe zeiss, maybe zeco, now theres more newer brands March?
If only these venoms came with the reticule set up of the vipers, that would be truly excellent. I'm not a fan of busy optics, I much prefer a simple crosshair with windage and elevation.
Hi man, may you please do a review on this optic? Primary Arms SLx 5x36mm Gen III Prism Scope - ACSS Aurora Reticle I have found one RU-vid video with how it looks like looking down the scope of this optic but it was not that good of a video. I was hoping in the future you can do a review on this exact optic i mentioned above.
@@prototype3a the sig 1-10 ffp? Absolutely terrible optic No 1-10 ffp at any price range is good I’ve got a Vudu 1-10 and it sucks worse than the scope in this video 1-6 SFP bdc and 1-8 ffp mil are the way to go with lpvos Cheap ffp scopes shouldn’t be considered The only option I really know of is the strike Eagle 1-8 ffp which is pretty good but still suffers being FFP for cheap You don’t need to use holds until 3-400 yards, your gonna be at 6x for those shots If you want FFP, get something like an ATACR or PLx-C If you run a 16” or shorter 556 gun and aren’t a precision guy, get a 1-6 SFP with a bdc reticle
@@prototype3a I see, when I first looked it up I missed the ffp part, didn’t ink they made the 1-6 in ffp, either way it’s a shitty scope made shittier with ffp where there should be sfp Just buy the venom in this video, it’s way better
Great Video, do you prefer the venom over the Primary Arms slx Nova? In Germany the venom is around 340€ The PA around 400 € and the Viper PST 600€ Which one should i buy? Thanks
Am i right ? I understand it Like the PA Nova is in between of the venom and the Viper, but the Viper is 200€ more… so better Price/quality is the Primary Arms??
@jong2359 thanks ! I sold my strike eagle to pick up a pst . Now I'm seeing all these reviews on the venom. I can swing the PST so I'm most likely going that route. The venom is definitely interesting though.
@@JonDinapoli I am fortunate enough to be able to hold the scopes locally, and can tell you the PST is better - almost universally. Unfortunately, I am not budgeted for one - so the Venom was the only logical choice. It isn't better, but it also isn't a regrettable compromise like nearly all other options at this price point.
The PST is in a weird place I think. Unless you are getting it used at a steal of a deal, it's typically priced at around 600 dollars. That is starting to edge into Delta Stryker/Trijicon Credo HX 1-6 SFP territory.... These LPVOs cost about 800. For most people who are going to spend 600 on just an optic, 800 is probably not out of realm of possibility if the extra money buys you something. Those optics have Japanese glass (much better optics performance) still retain nuclear bright illumination, overall superior construction AND most importantly they weigh 17oz and not 25. Personally I think you should buy a Viper if you are money conscious at all, if you are considering PST at 600 you should just buy a Trijicon Credo HX 1-6 instead. The PST only makes sense if you are getting it on super sale, like 450 or so, and you'll need to make sure you are ok with an LPVO that weighs 25oz without a mount which is insane to me. Europtic has the PST for 600 and the Credo HX 1-6 SFP with BDC reticle (this is what you want, not segmented mrad) for 830. 230 dollars is totally worth the upgrade to Japanese glass and 17oz instead of 25oz.
@SPIRIT-117 I agree I'm not going to pay more than $500.00 for a pst. I have some saved points from optics planet. I really wanted to see the Eotech sfp lpvo that are in that $700.00 area.
@@deganidegani1389 thx, for me the decision is tough because I like the reticle way better on the sig msr, but I know the venom is better overall, but I hate the reticle.
@@youtubeactt9060 Yes, i totally understand you, that‘s why i think on the Primary Arms slx nova. It’s still around 200€ Cheaper in Germany then the Vortex Viper pst II… I‘d love to have the answer from the Video creator , he‘s knows it best !! So please 😊
