Andrew sets up a Bergara B-14 rifle with the Vortex Viper PST. We go through our rifle set up procedure for sighting in on the range. The RZR zero stop requires some pre-range set up, so we go through those preparatory steps and how to finish the scope set up after sight in.

I would like to know what tools you are using to align the scope and to level the reticle to a level plain. Is there a system to setting the eye relief you use to fit the shooter to the rifle. The height of the scope can affect the calibration of the bullets impact to the target in my experience. Having the center of impact of the bullet in the center of the windage adjustment of the scope is unique. I never experienced that happening. I wish I had. I believe you take greater steps sighting in optics than the average firearms dealer is willing to do for sure. Thank you for sharing some interesting information.👍

Wheeler leveling kit for mounting scopes is one of the best and reasonably priced

We are going to do a more in-depth scope mounting video in the near future. In general, we mount scopes as low as possible on traditional rifles - AR platform or chassis rifles that do not have either drop at the stock comb or barrel contour require a much higher mount. Generally we will level across the tops of the bottom scope rings, then level across the top of the elevation turret. There are commercial scope leveling kits that seem to work well but I just naturally reach for my levels. Unless there are specific notes on eye relief I will set it up where it is comfortable for me and unless the customer is really tall it seems to work OK. Typically that is the rear of the ocular bell about 1" past the start of the pistol grip. Scope tubes have gotten both shorter and fatter over the years which makes some scope and rifle combinations a challenge to get mounted correctly.
