Thanks! This video was a huge help in replacing a seized bearing (698Z) in the brush motor gearbox. One more word of warning for anyone else attempting this: The point where the large wheel spring attaches to the wheel assembly is very fragile and you can easily break off the connection peg. However I was able to repair one such break with a carefully installed brass machine screw - tapped into the remaining plastic support. The spring now hooks over the screw head and works fine.
Thank you for showing us how to fix the "please clean my brush" error on the Vorwerk VR200. So simple: WD-40 (contact cleaner) spray cleaner in the brush connection just as you said. I balanced the machine on its side for a few minutes after spraying, so the cleaner would soak in faster. I had to wipe clean some dust which absorbed the spray and expanded. After 5 minutes waiting, I replaced the brush and lid and restarted - it worked straight away. Saves me putting into service for another replacement VR200!
Thanks a lot for this very very usefull tuto ! Vorwerk local station ( Lyon, France) kept me my unit 8 weeks, tried replace the motor, and finally gave it me back with no change. It was dust on the laser, from high pressure air cleaning. Then similar issue with false contact on the motor (same root cause). Now everything is fine, and cost was zero...
Thanks for those helpful tips! I was just about to completely tear down the Kobold when I heard you saying no need to disassemble if the brush is blocked. I applied some lubricant, inserted the brush to manually turn the motor axis a bit for better lubricant distribution and voila, the Kobold continues to work for us! Thanks again!
Just perfect… for me, I just had to look the first seconds and I got the solution of my problem! That’s why I’m real fan of RU-vid, great to have pro‘s like you, sharing the information and saving a lot of time!!! Thank you!!
I had the same problem (brush blocked). The unboxing and cleaning didn't solve the issue but there was a lot of dirt and hair inside the vacuum robot. After that I used a small amount of WD40 PTFE-spray for the small rotating brush and for the main brush shaft (4-5 times each). On the left side I did some sprays onto the shaft of the main brush and put the main brush back on again and rotated in by hand. I also spayed some PTFE-fluid on the chrome shafts of those smaller and bigger wheels. After cleaning everything with dry kitchen paper, my VR200 worked flawlessly, no rumbling sounds of the side brush, no blocked main brush.
Trotzdem danke!
Thank you for the great video! In a fit of rage, I thought it would be a good idea to hammer on my VR300 until the on & off switch jammed and was thus permanently pressed. From the outside, the switch could no longer be made to work, and only after opening the Kobold was I able to loosen the jamming.
Well explained!. I had problem were it was not moving. Thought it was problem with drive...but luckily I watched your tear down first. All I needed to do was clean the brush and spray WD40 Silicon into the bearing.
Great toturial, and thank you, but it's better to use plastic tools to protect plastic parts, also is easier to first pull up the center of the white surface before removal.
What was the fault with error 3000? I have the same error. Have you changed the complete laser set (= Motor + PCB + Laser)? In the Kobold Robot app, I’m getting the message: “To continue, press the button on the robot” (error code 3000).
Great! Without this super easy video I woudn't have been able to replace the broken handle of my VR200 successfully, in fact, I am pretty certain I would have totally destroyed it. Once you know it (from the video) is somewhat easy - as always. Thanks, keep up with your great work! I am surprised there is not more discussion about broken handles, it seems so flimsy?!
Thanks for the kind comment. Yeah I agree. I am constantly afraid of dropping the Vr200 (or Pumuckl 😅) so I don't really use the handle. I always pick up the device on the side holding the wheels in place which also prevents the annoying "put the device down" tone
Thanks for that video, it was very well done. I have a problem with a VR200 since I downloaded and installed the latest update from Vorwerk Version 2.1.7 (build 5) and it has really mucked up the VR 200. I was hoping you might have some experience with the software problems as well. I think the software is actually for a later model of Kobold: 1. It is now NOT charging at all. 2. on the display it shows Hotspot Mode with a WiFi symbol (full signal) 3. doesn't have Time and Date in the settings list 4. Has a WiFi setup that doesn't work (I think the VR200 never had WiFi capability) On the Settings Main Menu it has a new list with the following: Language; Wi-Fi Setup; Sound; Shutdown robot; Copy log; Software update; Set new battery; Fill level detect; Charging LED off and Auto shutdown. I have tried resetting the unit but it retains the same software version. Do you know if there is a factory reset available so I can go back to the older version of software. I think Vorwerk has really made a mistake here - there are quite a few reports of people having the same issues here in Australia. Thanks, any help would be appreciated.
Unfortunately I do not. I can say though that at least the European model I have is WiFi capable and it connects without any problem. I once had trouble charging as well for me cleaning the contact pads and restarting did the trick. What do you mean with WiFi setup doesn’t work? I think I needed the vorwerk app to setup the WiFi connection.
Wow, thanks. The robot is working again! I had completely forgotten I needed the app for the WiFi setup. I reloaded the latest software again and then was able to connect the WiFi successfully. The battery is charging and all looks normal. Thanks again. 🙂
Hello, now that I have found the fault, I would like to buy a new replacement part. Do you have any sites to buy spare parts? impossible to have a return from vorwerk france .... thank you so much
Sry unfortunately RU-vid does not notify about answers to comments. I am sorry but I didn't have to buy spare parts so I don't know/can recommend any sites. Thanks for the kind comments.
I just realized I mist a lot of them thanks to all for helping each other. Jonathan Krakau suggested www.ep-mediastore-ab.de/vorwerk-vr200-lidar-antriebsriemen-p-29599.html but it's a German vendor so I don't think it would be any help to you but maybe someone else stumbling across...
Unfortunately I don't. Maybe if you can't find the gear in particular you find something it is part of? Maybe they sell it with the motor or the transmission on its own?
Weiter so! Viele Grüße, Ragnar
You can see one of them in 9:33 on the right hand side. As their function is probably to keep the cables in place i do not think that the exact position matters. The other was i think mirrored on the other side.
Thanks for your video - with it I could repare that damn Vorwerk device. The story behind: Message "Bürste blockiert". I torn down the device and contacted the service of Vorwerk. They refused to send me the spare part because an educated technician have to do this. The hotline told me to send the VR200 to Vorwerk (fee 199 €). They will check and repare it (so additional cost for spare part and working time). I bought the ball bearing via internet (4 pcs, 7,49 €) and now it runs again. And the most annoying thing: the original bear bearing was of minior quality - not "2RS". The original ball bearing was not completly closed so a lot of dirt was between the bullets. Never Vorwerk again.
I have the same problem, where should I use the spray? Into the principal brush motor is enough or even into small brush motor? What spray do you suggest, something like ballistoil? Thanks ;)
Use the spray around the metal at the brush (in the video at 0:35). I used contact spray but I think ballistoil should work as well. Then you need to wait a little bit so that the spray can do its magic ;-). If you have any questions left then feel free to ask them! Did this fix your problem?
@@JERandomTech yes solved brush problem ;) unfortunately I broke both plastic part that hold the 2 wheel spring...I tried to glue them and stretch a little bit the springs in order to let the plastic glued resist from the spring strength...now the robot is ok but has a serious problem to turn right...turn left is ok...seems that left wheel slide on the floor... can't understand where is the problem... I don't know if re-open it make sense if I can't understand where is the problem. Forgot to tell that I open the robot to check also the brush motor if was ok.
@@daniele728 I think when the springs aren't strong enough the wheel touches the top plastic part. My idea would be to put something in between the plastic part that holds the wheel and the cover so that the wheel has more space or if this doesn't work you can maybe glue a metal screw or nail as replacement for the broken plastic and attach the springs there.
Comment faire ? Merci
Hey yeah I had some trouble with it as well. Someone suggested to use plastic tools to avoid damage. There’s also the idea of using a suction cup. However I haven’t tried them . I used a flat screwdriver and tried to find the 4 positions where there is a break in the inner rim and eventually got it out. If you gather any experience with a suction cup or plastic tools please let me know how it went.
I put some around the metal that is responsible to turn the main brush. After that you could turn the device on its side so that the spray doesn't flow out again.
Little Addition: When putting the springs of the wheels back in place, lift the whole construction, so both holding points of the spring come closer together. At first i didnt do this and the little plastic nipple broke...
The only thing I know of is on the green filter a plastic part that sticks out to ensure the detection of the dust bin. Is that still there for you? If it is maybe you could try a long needle to reach the switch and make sure that the switch is still in place.
Hey, thank you so much for this video. It helped me to fix my vr200. But maybe you can help me with that: after I reassembled the device I found a small piece of black rubber, about 2x1x0,5 cm. I have no clue where it is from. I guess it’s somewhere in the bumper? But I don’t know Thanks
Thanks for the kind comment. I think this is used to keep the cables in place. (9:27 in the center roughly under the main Board). So luckily nothing you should worry about. Hope that answers your question.
Your Welcome :-). No it isn't glued but it is the most complicated step. If a small screw driver at the certain spots shown in the Video doesn't work maybe a suction cup does the trick.
Nochmal vielen Dank 🙏
@@JERandomTech Thank you for the reply. In the mean time I have exchanged the blower and the high frequent noise has disappeared. So finally it was the blower! Thanks again, without your video I would not have been able to dismantle the VR200 to exchange the defect parts 🙏
I broke the button of the dust container and when I opened it, a spring jumped that I could not locate it, they are not from the external sensors or from the wheels. and the push button of the cleaning tank I had to solder a couple of cables and release them every time I empty the tank. Can someone tell me where that dock could go
I think the spring is from the bump right on top of the LEDs when the dust lid is open. (9:37 close to the red dot in the middle of the screen). Unfortunately I did not take a look at it so I don't know how to fix it.
Yeah sry it's also in my way probably more than i like to admit ;-). Thanks for the kind comment and feedback. I'll try to adjust the position of the camera in the next videos.
Thanks for the feedback. I decided to do that to keep the video at roughly 15 minutes if you have any questions regarding the assembly feel free to post them and I will keep in mind for the next teardown to include the main steps of the assembly. If something important is covered feel free to ask as well though there are already some comments where I explained missing information. I unfortunately didn't realize that my head was in the way while shooting and will improve that in the next videos
The solution last time was that the pin of the filter was broken as this presses down an internal switch. Make sure that the pin on the filter is not broken or reference it with a ne one. Is the pin missing? Did that fix the issue?
Unfortunately I don't. I took a look at the material I have but I don't have an image of the downside of the top plastic part (9:00). I reckon that you then can somehow remove the handle.
I don't know I luckily didn't have this issue but I think that is a good idea. If it's not improving maybe something wound up in the axis of the motor.
On the green filter there is a little pin that presses a relay to detect whether the dust bin is in place maybe the filter is the wrong way around or the pin might have come off
Sry. As mentioned in another comment I try to move the position of the camera. You can get a glimpse at 8:00. You can pull the cable up an then to the right to remove it.
😂sorry about that. About 4 years later and i still haven't figured something out🙈 Do you have an idea how to change it? Amazingly though the autofocus which I usually struggle with, as you can see in the latest video, had no problem picking it up. Regarding the connector it disconnects if you push it up and i believe to remember that there were some indents on the middle of the long side of the connection housing. I guess some tiny tweezers might work better than the tiny flat screw driver I used.
@@JERandomTech Thank you for the reply. I will try it again later. I’m heading to baumarkt to get a screwdriver to open one of the deep star screw under the screen. Mine is not long enough to reach it. What do you want to change? My goal is to fix the error 3000. My laser tower doesn’t spin. :(
The head being in the shot issue🙈 Good luck! I remember that the turret is rotated by a motor connected using a rubber band so maybe that needs to be replaced.
@@JERandomTech update: i managed to fix my robot. Tried to open it without unplug the screen, then I saw the rubber band fell off the wheel. So nothing was broken, nothing to be replaced, I just put the band back to the wheel. Now my robot is running again. Thank you for your video. I could not have opened it myself without watching your video.
Cheers thank you for the kind comment. That is one of the reasons I am creating these Videos so thank you for sharing. I don't really know how to put it but for anyone reading this please consider subscribing❤️
First of all be careful cause the springs are held in place by tiny plastic parts and easily break. I would try to get to a state similar to 10:48 where the springs are relaxed and gently place them back. But I didn't try it myself as I had the fortune that they remained put. Please share your experience and happy fixing.
