As a fellow Space Marine player (even if I'm a Blood Angels guy, not Ultramarines!) it always feels like I learn a lot from watching Steve play. Dan's awesome Votann army was equally helpful with his objective plays. Great game all around!
really? :D im a pure UM player and i watch these for just fun bcs both the lists and the action on board are fun, but not learning. love the channel still.
Seriously though... Skaven as Votann with the original models works absolutely for me! - It's very Skaven-esque and way less Dwarves-like as I would have wished for. A trillion thumbs up!
It's like a dream turned nightmare! I've been really looking forward to a Votann full army battle, but where I'm from we don't say the name of that animal out loud as they're bad luck, so hearing it said so much is really pushing me hard. Come on you Long Tail Warriors
You know it is going to be bloody when you come to watch 40k in 40 minutes and the videos total run time is only 36 minutes. It was like watching Roddy Piper fight Keith David, but with cheese puns. Great game and great video. Thank you!
I started seeing this channel to learn the rules better and ended up learning how to be a better player in the human sense, being a nice and joyful person, I want to spark the joy of spending an afternoon playing Warhammer as all Play on Tabletop team sparks when I see them, kudos to everyone!
Awesome battle, wow! Just so you know, Sternguard Vets have 4 attacks on their close combat weapons, not 3. Can't wait to watch another episode fellas!
Not an Ultramarine player myself, but don't you take the hits on one victrix before the rads to try and save them? Then when it's just one victrix and Calgar left, you take the hits on the big man because he has a 4+ fnp that way? That's how I do it with Celestine. Amazing finish, love it when people go for secret missions.
That is a way to go with Calgar's unit it is indeed an option. Not sure what he did as im still watching the video having gotten to that point yet, but it is an option.
Normally people take hits on the vitrix alright maybe he doesn't know? Also I don't think you can take hits on Calgar if he's in a unit with other models due to the rules about bodyguard and leader.
@@joebrunton2682 Sorry, I should've been a touch clearer. Calgar has the character keyword, so you're right that he can't be assigned damage (excluding precision) while he has a bodyguard unit. His victrix guard are not a bodyguard unit though, they're just part of his regular unit, so if it's just him and one victrix left, with the bodyguard unit dead, you can assign damage directly to Calgar. Since he still has one victrix up his 4++ still activates. Again though, this is from a Sisters player, there might be a reason not to do that with Calgar.
Man, after seeing in the Narrative Series how dumpstered Votann were getting, AND that dreadful first turn for him, I thought Steve was gonna finally get a win! Unfortunately, Steve got Steve'd by his luck. I'm honestly kinda bewildered. C'mon Steve, you'll get one on camera!
Why didn't the hellbalasters shoot when dying on hazardous? Their rules note specifically states that they do, which would override the new ruling that they don't shoot when they die to mortals. It's for doombolts and grenades and tanks shocks, not hazardous rolls.
